Randy Newberg and Michael Wunnicke from Leupold Optics are heading to the high desert of Nevada to chase early season mule deer on public lands. It's August, and the combination of hot temperatures and archery equipment, will produce no shortage of challenges.
Joining them is friend Scott Jones who will being sharing camp and helping glass for a mature buck. They are able to glass plenty of bucks, the only problem is they are near the tops of the mountains requiring a couple thousand foot elevation gain for each stalk.
Taking turns, Michael and Randy both head on some great stalks on quality sized deer. With any luck they'll be able to tag out on a great public land mule deer in the Silver State.

Love the Horny Toad! He was a nice one! I got an email yesterday notifying me that I was successful in drawing a Nevada Mule Deer tag! Woohoo! I'm so looking forward to this trip!

Rifle mule deer hunting is tough as it gets. But now bow hunting for mule deer is the apex of hard hunting 👊🏻

I really feel like since they did that exact hunt the day before and the deer were in exact same place they could’ve split up and one guy snuck around the other side to the escape route where they left the day before and the other guy come in the same exact same way and if he busts him again they should come right around on the same trail to him like they did

This is the best deer hunting video I have watched to date. Thank you all for taking the time to make such a fantastic production by capturing the sights, sounds, and especially the story so well.

Randy, I have been watching you videos for the past few weeks. Thank you for making them real. Most of the "hunting shows" on tv are either commercials pretending to be hunting show, or some ego maniac letting everyone know how wonderful a hunter he is. Your videos are the best. I have been hunting for some time and have more unfilled tags than I do trophies. I also learn a lot. Thank you again!

Love this video. As a newer hunter, I take so many lessons from something like this, even without a single arrow being shot at deer. I have an early season archery, high country mule deer hunt in just a couple months. This not only gets me excited, but gives me good ideas.

Great hunt, full of suspense, like real life. Watching your videos, you never know if there will be a kill shot or not, that is what makes them great. No kill shot necessary.

You're very smart in how you release your videos. I'm watching this and thinking about your previous video about your "mistakes". Even still, you had multiple stalks and did get close. You're videos here, and listening to your podcasts have taught me a lot. I've only been hunting in the west for 3 years. Last year I ended tagging my mulie (rifle), and been getting closer and closer with elk. I appreciate your efforts and transparency. Trust me, you'll get a picture if I get my first elk this year and some credit. 👍

Most hunts don't have a kill involved at least thats how it goes for me. Sometimes you do everything possible and still come up short. It could be a blessing that you don't get anything you might go back out and have an amazing experience that you would have never seen if you already tagged out.

Great hunting experiences to watch. In those areas do you ever hike in on top before daylight and have them come up to you? I know you have to deal with thermals. Thanks for the video.

I really feel like they could’ve made a plan when those deer were in the exact same spot the next day they split up and one guy goes around the other side to the escape route that they took the day before and the other guy comes in the same exact way he did and if he doesn’t get a shot the other guy should or at least try to cover there route. And those deer busted out the same exact way as the day before

You guys seriously didn't put me through 30+ minutes of a video to not get anything? Please put that in the title or description. While it was a good video I wish I hadn't dedicated myself to watching and not get the fulfillment of seeing a kill. Great to see you guys out doing what you love but please properly label next time
