My First Impression of TAIWAN --- Eating AMAZING Taiwanese STREET FOOD!!! 🇹🇼

I can't believe I'm actually in Taipei, Taiwan. The feeling is almost surreal. It's my first time here and I'm absolutely loving it! The multitude of delicious street foods, friendly people & quirky Taipei city vibes is almost too much to handle.
In this video, I of course head out on a street food hunt, I have 4 on my mind...
1. Beef Noodles (Niu Rou Mian 牛肉麵)
2. Dumplings (蒸饺)
3. Pork Blood Rice Cake (豬血糕)
4. Bubble Tea (珍珠奶茶)
...And I found all of them pretty easily!!!
The pork blood cake was seriously good. With a hint of spicy chilli, chewy glutinous rice, it's a street food snack I'll be having again for sure. Next was flash steamed then fried pork dumplings with spicy sauce, WOW is all I can say...so crispy and lip-smackingly yum!
After this we pop on a bus to Ximen district for more food!
The third food today wasn't planned, but I couldn't resist, fried quails eggs. My word, no joke, the best eggs I've ever eaten. The street vendor somehow managed to time the cooking so the yolks were runny- soft boiled quail eggs, yes please!!!
The last main food of today is Taiwanese beef noodle...crazy tender & thickly sliced beef of gelatinous tendon & meat, in a hearty brown broth alongside the most al dente handmade rustic noodles I've ever had, this is a dish to savor, but at the same time humanly impossible to NOT want to demolish the entire bowl as soon as possible.
I also ordered a side dish of kimchi, a braised boiled egg, 2 types of sliced beef, braised sweetened tofu, and quite an odd seaweed-like starchy roll. How could I not?
To end, what else other than Taiwanese bubble milk tea with handmade tapioca starch balls (boba), topped with caramelised brown sugar....The perfect end to a perfect Taiwanese dinner FEAST!!

great video mate, but some tips for next time: google lens is probably your best friend going forward! also try taking the metro as much as possible for getting around (to be honest it's an experience in of itself) as the road level transit gets bogged down during rush hour.

The side dishes you have at the beef noodle restaurant consist of pork ears or pork skin as the meat, and the seaweed is raw seaweed, not processed. It is usually recommended to add a little soy sauce paste to the whole plate of side dishes for better taste.

That seaweed in the beef noodle place is a type of edible kelp (kombu), very commonly found in the Far East cuisines (Japanese, Taiwanese, Chinese and Korean).

@@DanvsFood in Chinese it’s called 海帶 (Hai-Dai), literally translates to sea-band because it resembles a waistband/ wide belt. It’s naturally slimy and has unique texture and taste for sure 😄

that thing in beef noodle shop which you thought was beef skin, it was actually pig ear. yup, tasty pig ear. That appetizer dish would taste even better if you have them with some of those sauses on the table. Oh, I think i should run for a late night beef noodle soup after watching your video.

Yes we add sauces to those side dishes. Usually a least soy sauce paste and red chilly sauce. In some beef noodle places, you need to add spiced tallow in some small tars to make beef noodles to taste much better. Add some pickles too if available.

According to the internet, in western mainland Japan (関西Kansai), Satsuma-age (the brown fish cake in oden) is called Tempura (the same name as the japanese fried food), and that’s why it’s called Tempura in Taiwan. [thia̋n-pú-lah in Taiwanese] On the other hand, Oden, in Taiwan, is known as 関東煮 (mandarin: eastern mainland Japanese boil), or 烏輪(taiwanese: oo-lián, similar to the word oden, but with an L).

​@@DanvsFood peaches not a summer season fruit in low latitudes, like taiwan. Every kind of vegetables and fruits have their own temperature and season suitable for growth. I may suggest you to eat the current seaon fruit, becacuse it is the cheapest, and the most delicious. Mango芒果, litchi荔枝, pitaya火龍果,and watermelon西瓜 are very delicious to eat rigt now.
