I’m loving Aki, I was maining Cammy and Kimberly but I’m loving Aki’s move set and buttons, as well as the utility of the poison. Also her corner combos and movement out of corner is very good. Her confirm for level three with the whip is good. Overall really good character and I find her to be fun to play and haven’t been that bad to play against either, and I tried against her as Aki and my two listed characters from before. Pretty fun

I was the same way, then the honey moon phase ended when whiff punishing with her was getting hella frustrating. Cammy destroys her in almost every aspect of the game. Aki only has her drive rush that's good. Another con with Aki is that everyone knows you're gonna try to go in if they are poisoned and with her lackluster buttons, people are prepared to answer your limited time to go in.

@@Kdash66 The poison state is the same with burnout. You can't go for the option that they expect you to go for because that's the option they're ready for. If you only gain space from them being poisoned then that's also valuable.

What I've noticed is that you can't use her entire move set against any particular character. For example, if you're playing against Ken or a heavy rush down player, You have to prioritize the lash over the poison puddles and bubbles, because the recovery on those are too long, and people will just jump right over them. Cammy's knuckle, juri's dive kick, Kim's teleport etc renders then useless because of the long recovery time And if you're playing against a zoner, her fireballs are too slow and the puddles are useless. She can't out zone ANY zoner in the game. Now against zoners, that fast slither move can be useful, as well as that diving stab attack from the snake crawl, but the lash and poisonball will be useless unless used in combos. So in any given match you can only use half of your specials, outside of combos.

After playing against her 190 times last night as a Ryu main I can confirm this but also can confirm that she’s at least in the top half of the cast. She has a heck of a back throw that puts you in the corner from mid screen almost, she has multiple ways around fireballs, a very good drive rush, a great corner escape, good anti airs and nice combos that corner carry. Her supers are amazing too. The one that shoots poison strings is insane. Maybe her level 2? Anyway she’s good and fun to play against. Just not 16 times in a row lol

I agree with Punk that her normals are terrible. I disagree as far as the anti zoning goes. Od serpent slash nullifies projectiles from half a screen away, poisons, let's you combo out of it, and you get a crumple if the poison was already out. Lv2 can punish a projectile from anywhere on the screen, and even if they block it they can't really punish you and they'll be standing next to a giant poison pool. She can also cancel the recovery of her bubble with od slide, which will avoid any jump ins and open the range between AKI and her opponent. Guile's booms recover to fast for her to effectively anti zone him, but everyone else is fair game.

ive been following you since 2019 and Ive seen loads of videos of Daigo talking about how good you are. Obviously i seen you play a million times but im not good enough to understand what it is that you're doing that puts you in such high regard other than the fact that you are super talented. Idom showed a combo that does 7k damage. How is she not broken? Most of her stuff on block pushes her safe, and her chain thing has a ridiculously huge hitbox. She's even got Manon's special kick as a normal but better lol

I agree with what you said at the end about her neutral. She's got a pretty good drive rush, and I think one of the things that stands out about her is that she can do a lot of damage to you without having to spend much drive gauge compared to the rest of the cast. But no reversal, lackluster pokes, and not being able to cancel out of her slither stance are pretty bad cons. She's got some pretty good Anti-Airs too I guess. Thanks for the selfie at EVO and like I told you IRL, love it when you give your thoughts! You should break down characters in more depth.

She can cancel out of her slither stance by pressing up. It's pretty slow and you rarely want to do it so I don't know if that's what you mean but it is possible. No reversal isn't that big of a deal. Her level 1 is pretty good for that, and it's even better as a reversal than Kim's level one who also doesn't have a meterless reversal so it's not the worst thing. Plus she has the slip n slide that is strike invul on EX, and you can do an EX followup after fireball which is pretty sick for avoiding jump-ins or DIs when they think they got you. Having lop-sided strengths and weaknesses is a completely viable way for a character to be strong this game so every character isn't measured against Best Drive rush, bet normals, best fireballs, best reversal... Her biggest issue by far is her normals in neutral I think, which also seems to be the consensus from basically all the top players. I wonder if she gets developed in a way where those weaknesses don't matter or if AKI players are just gonna have to live with what is a pretty big handicap for a character to have.

​ I think her biggest flaw is that her moves take too long to recover from. There are times when I would knock someone down, and as soon as I get a fireball out or a poison puddle, they're already jumping back in my face. You can't really zone with her because of how long it takes for her to recover from doing her moves, and it's hard to play close up because of the same reason, her specials have long recoveries.

I feel like AKI is in a weird spot design wise Her poison is supposed to be an incentive to rush people down, but her close-range normals not being very good unltimately limits her effectiveness as a rushdown. But then if you look at her Zoning/Anti-Zoning, she genuinely can't compete since she has a single-speed fireball, poison that doesn't last very long and her long normals not really giving her much, if any reward. I think she's super cool, and an awesome concept for a character. But I feel like if Capcom wants to make her a menace they should REALLY double down on the Zoner archetype and make her poison more lethal, and the reward on her far normals much greater.

I think Aki's awesome! I'm not interested on whiff punishing as much as Punk is though. Just keeping my opponent in a poisoned state as much as possible. I also use the Slither, Constrictor, and Poison Puddle moves a lot more than Punk does in this video.

Bearing in mind this is from a hardstuck plat scrub, but isn't her lack of whiff punish because she's kind of meant to be played a bit more... set-upy? Bit longer range, fireballs, that whip thing, poison puddles, and with those slides, lunges and launches for mobility? Again, scrubtier here, but feels like her playstyle isn't really meant to be right on that whiff-punish edge.

@@helloman3676 Not on her lights, only on her crouching light kick which isn't special cancellable and has a lot of pushback so you only get one cr-lk into one cr-lp at point black. She does have the 5 frame st-lp target combo that moves her forward a little bit and maybe uses for that will get discovered in the future and it just feels weird to use right now, but generally having a stubby 4 frame locks her out of so many options for contesting in neutral. Her cr-mk and cr-mp are pretty good though.

I watched Punk's 2k MR run with the character so Im not even gonna try to claim that I know better than him, but I feel like that wasnt really anything to do with AKI and just more that Punks neutral will get him 2k with any character. Yes, AKIs buttons in neutral are pretty sucky for whiff punishing, but maybe thats the point. She's not Karin. Ive watched other AKIs who try incorporate her other specials more and you can see her potential in that sense. She can be quite annoying if you get tricky with it and its still very early, even if the early signs are saying mid tier at best.

A.K.I. is like Goh in Virtua Fighter 4. She has some good buttons , but they execute so slow that you have to give yourself enough room to land them. Basically you have to make the opponent whiff at a distance. She is *no* Karin. She is more a mid-range to long range character.

You could easily end up plus on the drive version,cross em up,and ofc it has a cancel attack. Like all u have to do is read there moves,and it wasn't hard to tell for me that he was gonna throw it again right after the first(im not a pro player,if that tells you how telegraphed old dudes projectiles were)
