A good overall review. It would have been nice to hear what the strimmer sounds like i.e how loud it is.

yeah I should have included a clip sorry, its not particularly loud I don't think especially compare to the petrol one I have, overall I'm really quite impressed with it, thanks for the kind comment

Does it take flex volt batteries from a physical size point of view.

Spoke to a Dewalt guy on a roadshow. They split the shafts to half the shipping costs. No other good engineering reason other than ease of shipping.

yeah that makes sense, cant see any other real positive to it although some may benefit from the design

I don't want to make you sad but that 18v DEWALT will only work for 10 months or maybe less, I say this from experience and from a few others who have posted comments warning of the poor quality of this device. You can check it on KZbin
