Finally informing content in KZbin. I have a question about the van. Does it have onboard mains inverter? Maybe you could do a tour of the van components, like heater, type of heater (heat pump or just a thermal heater heating water?) 12v system, how is works etc.

Update to diagnostics. If the amber light on the van remains solid amber for 30 seconds, it indicates a charge fault with the van itself. If the charge port indicator flashes for 30 seconds (as it did in my case) it indicates an external charging failure.

An easy fix for your outlet issue is to remove your existing outlet and replace with a 4 square metal box, outlet and 4 square metal cover. I’m an electrician in California and that’s how I do it. It gives you the freedom of turning the outlet any way you desire.

do you know what the little button does in the center of the 5 circle lights?
@dennislyon54122 жыл бұрын
By the visual, the center button on the charge indicator light is for you to request for the vehicle to release the charge plug. There may also be a trigger on the back of your charge plug which will also do the same thing as you grab and squeeze the handle. If the electric latch doesn’t release (runs on 12v, which could be low or dead when the charge plug is removed), there’s a mechanical pull cable (underhood?) to release the latch, and thus the charge plug.
@back2even11 ай бұрын
so you are saying the little button inside the light is a lock release? How do you lock it?
@dennislyon541211 ай бұрын
@@back2even - the button in the center of the charge indicator is one way for you to request that the (DC) charger stop. There’s also a button (trigger) on the top of the CCS plug that will stop the charger if you press that. Once the charger stops, the lock solenoid will release and you can remove the charge plug. Locking is automatic, and I’m pretty sure it only works with DC charging on a Ford.

One downfall I've seen with other EVs charging arrangements is that constant plug/unplugging the EVSE will cause the spring tention in the receptacle to weaken. Eventually this causes a bad connection and subsequent overheating of the plug. It seems a lot of the portable EVSE cords are fairly cheap built with injection molded plastic around crimped wire connectors. I've seen a plenty of people report melted plugs after a year or two. When my transit arrives, it will be hardwired. Of course I have an electrical service company, so it's a bit of a no brainer....
@raidenelectricohio2 жыл бұрын
Why would you be plugging and unplugging the charger from the wall?
@steve326272 жыл бұрын
@@raidenelectricohio believe it or not, there are a lot of owners that think they need to unplug their EVSE whenever it's not in use. I would never recommend it. The only plausible situation would be if you only had the portable and needed to use it off site on a regular basis.

Boxes are pretty simple, saw a video of one being opened. Basically a computerized electric breaker. So yeah you don't want to overheat it. Had similar experience with my iMiev and same solution, unplug everything walk away for hour and it started working again.

I ordered mine about a month ago with still no VIN. How long did it take for you to get yours from order to delivery?

I ordered 3rd week of April and had delivery 1st week of May. I think I was in the right place at the right time as it was the first my dealer was to recieve.

Thank you. Your E-Transit (range) videos are changing my mind about buying one for RV conversion. Question - are you able to walk around upright in your mid-height van?

I am. I am 5'8 kn a good day and good clearance. A person about 6ft would graze their hair on the metal stamped crossbars.

You might think about mounting the Ford charger in the correct direction on your garage wall. This would make it easy to plug in and out. You could even install a heat sink of some sort. I personally did that with my Leaf charger, and I bought a spare charger to keep in the car in case of emergency. Works fine, I do get a fault now and then, but it is very rare.

Theres a plastic clamp that comes with the ford charger brick to attach it to the wall you should use that
@greekmaster100111 ай бұрын
Just put two long screws straight up from the outlet and it’ll hold that control box instead of hanging it on the other outlet
