Woo Young Woo made the important point that Jun-Ho's analogy had an important flaw: love for cats isn't unrequited because cats love their owners too. So she basically told Jun-Ho that she loved him too.

Regarding the cat analogy, there was a tiny detail that was not fully translated. Translator used words "Cat" and "Owner". But, actual word he used was "butler". A lot of cat owners call themselves "cat's butler" because that's how generally cats treat their owner; you know just like your guys said, cat's do not return the owner's love as dogs do. I do agree. It was a perfect analogy.

Little fact! Kang Taeoh (the actor that played Junho) is the one who came up with the idea while thinking how junho should approach woo youngwoo, bcs his family raise two cats, and the writer really like the analogy and put it in the drama 🥺

I'm a writer, and I've seen some great writing in shows, but I'm not kidding when I say this show had some of the absolute best writing I've ever seen! I'd be worried about season 2 not measuring up if not for the fact that it's very clear that the writers know EXACTLY what they're doing. On one hand, it was great that I started my K-drama journey with this show because of how fantastic it is. On the other hand, it makes it unfair because nothing measures up to it! haha

My heart melted when Sang-hyeon called Young-woo "noona" the first time 😭That conversation between them possibly my favorite scene of the entire series. Neither of them is making much eye contact, the brother is stimming with his rubik's cube, but there's ZERO miscommunication. Idk if the younger brother is canonically autistic as well (I think he is), but it's still a great example of how neurodivergent people can communicate so naturally with each other, compared to neurotypical people. I've never seen a scene like that before, which is sad to say, but it's still so magical to see it on screen. BTW, if the younger brother is 17 in Korean years, he's probably 15 or 16 by our count. He says he's in his first year of high school, which would be 14 or 15 in the US, except I believe they start school a year later than we do (Sweden does this too).

@@16poetisa Good to know. This was my first K-drama and I didn't know what to expect. Very refreshing. No wonder people rave about K-drama. Woo Young-woo will stay with me for many years challenging me to think, listen and grow.

Given WYW's touch aversion(s), one could suspect that it would be, so our normal assumptions about romantic relationships have been called into question. Given the pacing of where the story ends, it would be hard to squeeze in. Maybe in season 2? Also, if S. Korea is as conservative as I sense it is, at least relative to what I'm used to, expecting sex by the fifth date might be rushing it. If it happens, here's one way of doing it: Young-Woo wearing her finest evening clothes, randomly meets Su-Yeon in the street explaining it's because she's going on a date with Jun-Ho. Next day, Young-Woo shows up in court wearing the same clothes. Su-Yeon comments on this, as a callback to episode 10. Later (in the coffee room) Su-Yeon asks Young-Woo if "anything" happened. Young-Woo is silent but her face awkwardly says yes. Maybe Su-Yeon says the quiet part out loud. I have _zero_ need to _see_ them having sex, but if their first intercourse is as awkward and simultaneously beautiful as their first kiss, it could be a goldmine of WYW moments. Then again, it's hard to do without getting too close to showing them close-to-naked, and I don't want that.

And the most epic line in the whole series for me comes from Atty. Jung, "but you're not just an ordinary lawyer." It's like the perfect ribbon on a beautiful present. The cherry on top of a beautiful cake of a series. I just bawled my eyes out. 🥺😭😭😭😭😭

I saw this thing they talk about why they chose whale for the show. Whale is only animal who does not abandon hurt or sick or deformed whales behind. If whale can't come up to the surface to get air. other whale will carry that whale to the surface to get air. Whales also adopts different whale with deformity into their group to survive. If you think about the whales behaviors to disabled and injured whales it kinda feels like what woo young woo wants most of all. It's like her hopes and dreams to be part of something even though she is different. Last scene on this episode really touched me.

I recommend The King's Affection as another series you might like with Park Eun Bin. It's a historical fiction but her acting skills are on full display as she portrays a woman who has to pretend to be her brother the prince.

My only disappointment is that Woo Young-Woo never introduced Jun-Ho to her dad, or that they never met in some way. They are natural allies in helping Young-Woo.

Woo Young Woo is my first South Korean drama too and I'm in love with our whale couple. 🐳🐳❤️ I'm anxiously waiting for 2024 to watch season 2 and help renew to season 3 and beyond cause we need this show to continue. I recommend that if you want to see another drama more focused on psychological problems, with a touch of suspense and obvious romance also continue with "It's okay not to be ok", the protagonist has a very complex personality and is fascinating, she is incredibly crazy but makes herself loved. I truly love your reaction. I just want you to know that there's "Extraordinary" thing about the KOREAN age system If Koreans tell you about their ages, you have to deduct 2 years from what they are saying. When Attorney Woo's little brother says he's 17, it means he's 15 years old in your own age system . Let me explain why. In Korea, on the day when a baby is born, the baby is 1 year old cuz they count the age in the fetus(foetus). Then on January 1, all Koreans get 1 year older. For example, when your baby is born on 31 December, the very next day (New Year's Day) it gets 2 years old, even though it was born 1 day ago. ( even born at 23:59:59' on 31 Dec, only 1 second ago) So when two babies were born on 1 Jan 2021 and on 31 Dec 2021, both of them are equally 2 years old on 1 Jan 2022. Soooooo, you should deduct 1 or 2 years from their ages. This is "Extraordinary" traditional Korean age system. Of course, they also have the official/legal age system that is exactly the same as the international age system.

Thank you both so much for a wonderful ride, it was just so much fun watching it along with you both. The insightful comments and so articulate assessment and break down, it did make a hug a difference in the experience for me. Makes me ponder how on earth I’ve managed to watch so many shows on my own in the past. This was really my first K-drama (not counting Kingdom as that was an easy one as an avid zombie fan) and really opened me up to seek and find more k-dramas. My appetite for it has grown substantially. I’ve binged-watched the series All of us are Dead with you both also. Love your work and ciao!

thank you both so much for these amazing reactions! I was also left with a sense of fulfilment like Woo Young Woo at the end of this season, and knowing that I could come here to rewatch through your eyes every week made it that much better. my only wish that wasn't fulfilled was I would have loved to see just one scene between Woo Young Woo's father and Junho. I feel like that would've been so cute! but now that we know we're getting a Season 2, I'm more forgiving since I know we'll see them together next season. I hope you react to more k-dramas; I recommend Prison Playbook -- I think you would both enjoy the characters and the overall story so much. ❤

I love your reactions to Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Syntell, now that you completed watching this as your first K-drama you might be spoiled for future K-dramas. This drama is among my favorite of the more than one hundred K-dramas I watched. it is wholesome, thought provoking and a wonderful conversation starter. On Saturday, 8/20/22 I was at a fan club meet up of a singer (Dimash Qudaibergen) I love and met a Korean for the first time and vice versa, she met me and other Americans for the first time. I mentioned this K-drama in conversation, and we talked about it. I'm already watching the entire series for a second time, because I always miss so many details the first time around. I look forward to more K-drama reactions from you and Achara.

I would like to recommend another wholesome and fun k-drama to you all. Seasons 1 and 2 of "Hospital Playlist" have been aired on Netflix. This drama is as fun as Woo Young-woo.

What I also loved about this series is the fact that the producers waited for Park Eun-bin to say yes to it. They waited for her to finish King's Affection. They held out for her because they felt she was the best choice to play this part. And for their patience and dedication to making the best series they were rewarded with high ratings. Not all but most Korean dramas are dedicated to excellence. It's something very rare in Hollywood. They are well written. Well directed and well acted. And this series which was excellent from top to bottom was made for just under a million dollars per episode. Something which is basically impossible for a scripted Hollywood series to accomplish. Netflix knows a good thing by investing in these Korean dramas.
