I had absolutely no idea how much there was to lifts I never took any notice of them at all i got in pressed the button where i wanted to go and got out not even noticing them really unless there was a horrid grinding sound then i always crossed my fingers & hoped i would not get stuck in it and walked back down the stairs just in case so thank you for the informative videos i will see lifts in a new way from now on just in case you are interested i like the lifts with glass doors the best that's because if they do get stuck you would not feel so bad being able to see out side i like them when they are light and smell clean i hate them when the light goes out the worst & they smell of well you know what ! for me if i see a lift that is creepy i use the stairs every time can you make some videos of the creepiest lifts you have ever travelled in and can you please do a commentary with them thank you look forward to seeing them ps have you seen the movie devil about a lift do you like it ? its creepy lol

The creepiest lifts I have been in are at guys hospital. My lift tours of this place are not complete. There is a lot more to this place that I haven't yet seen. There are so many creepy passages. I really need to get back there and do a proper explore.

I think St Georges is like hell on earth I hated it in there , the night staff were horrible cruel just left people to rot in there ,people were begging for water bottles just to pee in in there! as there was no one to help at all at night in the dark all the bells were ringing non stop and no one ever came to help day staff on the other hand were fantastic it was like angels during the day and demons and evil witches at night

I did lift surf once. It was on a Schindler 5300. I have a video of it and I still have the triangle key that works on most modern doors... Once I publish it, it will only be showned by selected people I trust. I don't want to risk other people to do stupid moves. I was entrusted my triangular key after all.

doesnt a Schindler 5300 turn off when you open doors with the triangular key? I know OTIS Gen2 and EcoDisc does that, but I think the newer Schindlers aswell...

Uplifting PostTower my didn't. It functionalled as normal, exept it didn't move. (The doors worked allright). But how does it work when the lifts turns off when you open a shaft door?

the lift blocks itself off and you need to activate a reset routine which can only be done with a Schindler maintenance system. I am very surprised your Schindler 5300 deals with opening the doors and does not deactivate

Uplifting PostTower All I did was first to send down the lift a floor, then I opened the shaft door. first time I did this, someone begun to use the lift and the door opened down there. I closed the shaft door and the lift acted normally. This was on the night and I happened to show the lift shaft to some of my stepbrother's buddies when my step brother itself were looking for me and begun to use the lift. Next time, when I was all alone (one of the rare times I actually are alone) in the middle of the night, I did a proper lift surfing a few rides, when I left the lift I turned it off inspection mode and released the stop button Before closing the shaft door. Afterwards the lift went on it's own to the ground floor and worked normally.

@@PostTower Gen2 lifts made after 2005 go out of service, ecodiscs don't (unless it has shaft door protection wich is rare) Some schindler lifts go out of service 10 seconds of safety being broken.

you' got some epic pictures there... :) fire mode, cab rides and such stuff. But seriousley, you got the *Luck o' the Irish* about the fire service mode and that no one noticed. Risk is fun! However, there are lots of lifts where the fire mode can not easily be undone or the activation of fire service connects to the local fire department or at least to a security desk. Seriousley, you are even more brave than I am, Ben. After all I think you know well about this place and what u'r doing, but i dont wanna get worried about you :)

Hi, Beno, I would like to know if you could confirm that ALL the Otis Europe 2000 lift are with the called "inspection otis box" on top of the car or you may have seen some without it. Thanks to share that info with me as I am feeling that someone has on top of breaking some parts on my lift also stole some other to use them on their lift. Regards

1:12 That elevator sounds terrible! 1:55 What key does the fire service key switch take? Just curious. Can anything turn that key switch? Also, it seems like this elevator might only have 1 phase of fire service. Usually, the key switch outside puts the elevator in fire service phase 1, where the elevator goes to the main floor, opens it's doors, and becomes inoperable. Maybe it is different in the UK. 3:21 This elevator doesn't sound very good either. But not as bad as the other one. 4:45 Did you use a key to open the shaft doors? Or did you trick the interlock somehow? 9:32 This is actually a ThyssenKrupp elevator, judging by the logo. That means it is from 2001 or later.

The key for the fire switch and opening the shaft doors is a 8.5mm firemans triangle key (not to be confused with the ever so slightly smaller gas meter triangle key). These lifts all use the EU fire service mode. There isn't a phase one and two. In the EU you switch on fire mode on the outside of the lift on the main floor. Inside the lift this floor is either labeled as FSAL (fire service access level), or alternatively this floor will have a green button. Once the firemans switch is activated the lift will go straight to the FSAL floor and open its doors. Unlike the USA when inside the lift you don't need to enable it, you can operate it in fire service straight away. Fire service itself is the same as the USA (hold door open to open the doors, letting go immediately shuts the doors). Also, if the fire alarm goes of the lift will go straight to FSAL and will sit there with the doors open, but it will not enter fire mode until the key switch is activated. The rare french lift does appear to be a ThyssenKrupp, oops. I actually don't know that much about this design. It is rare outside of France. The design of these looks a bit dated for 2001. I assume that these were first produced in the 90s, but I can't be entirely sure.

@Beno: That Thyssen lift has STEP Basic fixtures. It's actually a 90s German style Thyssen lift. I have seen this style of lift before in Indonesia. @upanddownadventures: ThyssenKrupp continues to use Thyssen's STEP Basic fixtures after the merger until around the mid 2000s.

In 2004, Thyssenkrupp makes older type STEPMODUL fixtures (red version) which they were awesome. In 2010, Thyssenkrupp makes newer type STEPMODUL fixtures (blue version) which they were awesome too. Thyssenkrupp also makes Focus fixtures until 2012, they were discontinued. Now they are making STEPMODUL fixtures. I think there is Thyssen with STEP Classic fixtures in UK but we are not sure.
