That's the best thing about the rock metal community is that thebsocially awkward are immediately welcomed and accepted. You said once that you always used to give the goth kids weird looks cause they were jumping around acting a fool, but now you get it. Rock is the place where outcasts and the unaccepted go to BE accepted. ❤❤ SOOO glad you've found us and that we've found you.

Community is one of the most common themes in Alternative music. Many of us were the "weirdo's" at school, who felt like they didn't fit or got bullied for being different. Finding the larger community for the first time is a revelation and for most happens at the festivals. It's why from the outside we draw ranks and look scary, when it's actually one of the most chill and accepting groups around, we're just used to being protective. It's also why a lot of the music is about venting pure emotion, better to get it out to the music as sadly many of our members have seen what it looks like when it's directed at people instead. It's so cool to be able to feel like I'm finding it all again the first time, through your eyes. Looks like you've been adopted into the family, welcome the the freakshow!
@lukepercival3427 Жыл бұрын
Also the "ant colony" that you saw is a circle pit. You'll probably see a fair few if you cover more live gigs, along with endless crowd-surfing, standard pits and walls of death. Alternative dance can get a little bit fighty, there are rules to it though that are taught quickly and efficiently when needed.

Teddy, I honestly have never been into Slipknot just because I cannot understand a lot of what they're saying. But I have watched ALL of your reactions to them and I have to say that you MADE me enjoy them -- this one especially. I think you have always been a metalhead deep down inside, my friend! That movement that looked like ants is called a moshpit, my friend. Ya know, you have said many times that you're socially awkward but I find you absolutely intriguing to watch and hysterical (I too make fun with self-deprecation). I really think you'd LOVE the scene. Maybe start with a rock concert rather than a festival. 😉 While this artist isn't rap or metal, they are hard rock, fronted by a female with amazing vocals (and guitar playing) and the music is badass. It's Halestorm. I was there for this show. Been going to DL almost every year since 2005. I've missed maybe 2 in that time. I would say there were probably 70-80K people there for this show. The capacity now is up to about 120K. I took my best mate in 2005. It was my first full weekend festival, his first festival, and his first proper metal gig. We've been back regularly ever since. And behind all that chaos you see in the audience there are thousands of people sitting on the hills watching from their camping chairs. Don't feel like you'd need to be in that mess to be there for a show. It's not like that at all. I've never been into the big crowds and moshing, and I have a heart condition and an anxiety disorder, so me and my sis stay back for a good view, near a bar :) If you do go just know there are a lot of people who'll gladly invite you into their group. We wouldn't hesitate to invite you to come and camp with us for a DL weekend. Next year might be a good time to go because the line up isn't that great, it will be quieter, but you'll still have all the die-hard DL fans there to make it a good experience without it being too overwhelming. If I see you there I'll say hi, as I'm sure plenty of others will! :)

Circle pits can be just running as a group, or like a push pit. There are even things called “Wall of death” where the crowd will split in half and on the vocalists say so run at each other like a literal line of battle. There are amazing live songs like Lamb of God at download playing Walk With me in Hell that have MASSIVE pits and the music is so hype with energy

Welcome to the maggots my dude. I love seeing people realise what’s happening with Joey: I witnessed it in 2001 in Glasgow and it was stunning. Slipknot don’t need to do these tricks but they do it anyway, because they are that fucking good. Joey was a king among drummers and much missed.

I saw this live in Tokyo in 2013. I will remember that forever. As someone who loves metal and hip-hop it's always good seeing someone being pleasantly surprised when they listen to the other side

Youre starting to feel what us maggots feel. Starting to recognise greatness. Welcome to the family.

This is the first video of yours I've seen, and your reaction even made me tear up! I was introduced to Slipknot in 2004 and have loved them ever since. I too have severe social anxiety, often to the point of blacking out in crowds, so I completely understand the struggle. I'm looking forward to watching your other videos about your rock/metal discovery adventure, and I wish I could just give you a big hug. The metal community gets such a bad rap so often for being violent, hateful, deranged etc...but the reality is that we're just like everyone else. And the ironic part is that the majority of us are genuinely good, nice, friendly people. You're more likely to get hurt in the pit at a rap concert than you are at a metal concert...we do our best to take care of each other. From a long-time maggot to a new maggot (maggots are Slipknot fans...I promise I'm not name-calling lmao) - welcome to the family and we love you! ❤🤘🤘🤘

Find yourself some metal friends and then attend a small concert first. Learn how to survive a moshpit. Find out if you can deal with touching shirtless sweaty people. And if you are ok with all of that… have fun at the next best slipknot concert. But make sure you know what you are getting into, how you are getting out again emotionally AND (most important) do it soon (even Corey is talking about not wanting to be in slipknot forever)

Man oh man Teddy, what a banger. So much fun to watch you dig in. You mentioned vikings and saxons. Has anyone pointed you towards Amin Amarth. Norse heavy metal at its absolute finest. I think it would be a fun chapter in your journey. Its brutal, fun, soeaks to mythology and has great crowd involvement just like Slipknot

Direct copy from my post from your studio version of this song!! Got a few recommendations for you... Sleep Token - The Summoning Rammstein - Du Hast (Watch the live version from Paris) oh, and if you feel like having a Floorgasm, watch Nightwish - Ghost Love Score

This song and live really shifted something in me when i first saw it. This band has been such a big part of me growing up and seeing someone without prior experience to the culture and community without prejudice enjoying this is so amazing. I love this react and love the way you really pause and tell us what you're thinking every moment❤❤

Really enjoying your journey!! I was at this gig, unbelievably good. Corey Taylor is a legend, he’s been on QI. Worth watching his acoustic live performance of Snuff. It’s incredible.

What an awesome reaction! Ngl, the best I’ve seen. Now think how joyful you’ll feel at an actual show! Thats the cool thing, being amidst your bros and singing at the top of your lungs and hooting & hollering. Nobody judges. Just go!!

Average person - "metal is so angry and hateful and scary" Corey, through his fucking mask - "we love you, take care of yourselves, take care of each other" 15:05

I've been to a bunch of concerts and there is nothing like being in a Slipknot crowd, especially during the jump up part. It's amazing
