No truer words. It's one of the things about Metal that I love because it's real life. The good, the bad and the ugly. And there are many Metal fans out there that are amazing, some of the nicest people. I remember seeing a Slipknot concert where Corey actually stopped the concert because he noticed that someone was getting crushed in the crowd and called out for EMTs to help them out and had the crowd back up. Such great guys. 😎👍

Metal is a visceral connection for people who vibe with the content or sheer intensity of the music. For those of us who suffered while growing up it’s unbelievably therapeutic. Metal is family, a shared bond of explosive energy and giving in to our humanity.
@JustTanya. Жыл бұрын
@@zackkullis5555 Very true. And different bands go with a different moods too. There are times that I get angry at something that I'm thinking of a specific song or band and I listen to that. Like if some a-hole cut me off, the first song that pops into my head is The Offspring's "Bad Habit". That's going on full blast with all the windows open and I'm flipping the f*cker off. What can I say? I have road rage and live in SoCal. I also have insomnia so it could be when I'm getting tired but can't get to sleep that I'm just like, f*ck it and listen to Metal. It's like, well might as well just wake the hell up since my insomnia is running things right now. Or I'm just pumped, something good happened and I want to listen to some fun sh*t. So many reasons to just enjoy this genre and especially when it's just a really good band that is just doing what they love and enjoy doing for those of us that love and enjoy listening to them.

They also had a few injuries during the filming. 2 people got cut by glass climbing through the broken window (one on the hand, one in the leg) and someone got hurt when the ceiling collapsed from someone pulling down the light fixture. They were all treated by EMS that were on standby for the shoot and all rejoined to finish the video. None of the injuries were really serious (if i remember correctly the worse was 4 or 5 stitches)

Until you actually experience metal, it's really hard to describe the emotions it pulls out of you. The anger, rage, sadness, and hopelessness we all feel deep inside. It's an outlet. Spit It Out Live at Download 2009. You realy need to react to that
You were born to be a metal head my bro. The high pitched sound you hear coming from the guitar that almost makes you jizz every time, That's called a pinch harmonic. On an electric guitar you pick a string then brush your thumb on the same string within fraction of a second of one another, if you do it right it restricts the frequency to much higher than achievable on any other instrument. It's an advanced technique that most people can't pull off reliably whereas some people like myself can play entire songs in pinch harmonic notes.
@justdavelewis10 ай бұрын
Yeah it takes a bit of practice to get the technique right but once you do its really cool. Playing them at different parts of the string is always a fun experiment as well.

You are legit turning into a metal head before our very eyes and its amazing to watch the same emotions that we all feel when listening to this music. It runs through our veins bro , we live it. That moment with Corey grabbing the guys head is the same unity we feel with our fellow brothers and sisters every day or at a show. Metal is deep and sadly a lot of people will unfairly never give it a chance because they see it as 'noise'. They are missing out. Welcome to the family!

They invited their fanbase (Maggots) to this house, which was scheduled to be demolished. The fans went way more that anyone imagined. My understanding was that none of the destruction was staged. It was just things the fans did. Great reaction!

I was at that video taping. I’m in the very background of a shot towards the beginning, but once I ran by the car & into the house I parked myself mainly right next to Mick, the long haired guitarist, & Sid, the DJ, who was close to him. It was an interesting experience. A lot of hours of hearing just that song, however it was the first time anyone had heard anything from their new album so it was pretty cool. Also, you’re not crazy, you see color-ey stuff when you push into your eyes. However the other sound being color & shape stuff which you attributed to autism I think?, you should look into a condition called Synesthesia. I have it & it’s similar to what you’re talking about, but it’s not related to autism. Your senses are essentially tied together. So so your color/vision sensory nerves react when you’re hearing sound. I also have it with letters & words.

The backstory for this music video is just as sick as the song. A guy was moving and reached out to the band about doing a music video at his soon to be former house. They were hesitant about it at first but he said it was ok if things got broke etc. So they reached out to a bunch of their fans and they showed up and absolutely destroyed it. A few actually got hurt and went to the hospital and slipknot paid all their medical bills.

My understanding of what happened with the house was that it was going to be renovated, so they didn't mind if there was a bit of damage. However, things got a bit out of hand and there ended up being structural damage to the house (which the band paid to repair, about $50k)

That high pitched sound you liked is a pinch harmonic on the guitar, and as a guitarist myself, trying to learn pinch harmonics is incredibly difficult
@alexanderzadoroznyj Жыл бұрын
An interesting thing with pinch harmonics is that, yeah… in the beginning trying to learn them was so frustrating for me I actually stopped playing for about 6 months! (I’m talking this was about 20 years ago) Then, when I came back to guitar it’s like that break of playing cleared my mind of that stress and after only a few sessions I was able to get it down. After that, I had that melodic death metal squeal and vibrato (In Flames, Children Of Bodom, Soilwork, etc) down nearly anywhere on the fretboard.

I love watching people that wouldn't normally listen to this type of music properly give it a try. The musicality behind it and the passion it somehow creates in people is just fucking visceral at times. Great video Teddy, this was epic to watch.

The guitar sound effect that you asked about is called a pinch harmonic. To perform a pinch harmonic, the guitarist will fret a note normally or with bending and vibrato and strike the pick and thumb simultaneously. This creates the harmonic effect.

Im glad you appreciated it! Since you enjoyed Coreys "Nearly Rapping" I think you would like some bands from the "Nu Metal" Scene. I would recommend Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name for a reaction video I would also recommend some Linkin Park, If you want more Hip Hop sounds from the band, I would recommend their first album funnily enough called Slipknot, the drums in that album have quite a groovy, hip hop sound to them, if I could suggest you one song from that album it would be "Eyeless". 😊

BTW, the song is about internal conflicts and the duality within the human self.The lyrics suggest a struggle with understanding and accepting various facets and emotions within oneself.Overall, Duality is considered an anthem for those dealing with like "inner demons".

So glad you're checking out Slipknot. They are actually a good one for you, if you can get past their masks and that's because of the lyrics. A lot of their songs have incredible lyrics, incredible messages. I hope you dive down even more into SK. You'll see why so many of us appreciate this band. And you are not strange about the eye thing. I have horrible chronic migraines and sometimes that pressure can relieve it for a few moments. Oh yeah, a slipknot is a knot that is more commonly used by people who knit and/or crochet, like me, so that is where that term comes from. 😎👍

I used to do it a lot when I was younger, close my eyes and push onto them and try to make out and make sense of the kaleidoscope type shapes that would start appearing, then when you open your eyes you keep seeing those shapes almost in a yellow colour for a while. In fact I used to do it to entertain myself when I was bored or in trouble or just needed that little bit of escape from my surroundings

You've got to check out some of their other stuff- Corey Taylor's (vocalist) lyricism is incredible! Would highly recommend Psychosocial, Snuff, Before I Forget, and The Devil in I (that one might be too much for you since you don't do well with gore). Snuff in particular is one of the most emotional performances I've ever seen- definitely check out the live version as well.

Hoh boi, I am SORRY for this one in advance, but: First off, idk how you manage to always say something new and relatable every video while also being totally out of pocket about it, but I love it. Proud patreon member here! - My favorite fact about this video is that the house was property of a huge Slipknot fan who was like "fuck it we're tearing down a bunch of the house anyway, shoot a video here" and shit went SO FAR out of control during the shoot that Slipknot had to pay about $50K to repair the thing afterward because it almost was entirely demolished lol those dudes plummeting through the 2nd floor? yeah, entirely real and there happened to be a camera to catch it - Video like button lit up fine - "WHEEEEEEHHHWWW" sound on guitar is a string bend or whammy bar on lead guitar 😂 - "It's so close to being rap" Cory Taylor, the lead singer, has done a good amount of hip hop in his distant past a lot like Ronnie Radke, he was just never a battle rapper comparatively. - Yeah a slipknot is the super loopy looking part of a hangman's noose - "This is unlocking a visceral part of me" yep, I used to fight, smack some pads with this playing and it's a diiiffffeerrreenntt experience than something as calculated seeming as hiphop can be. - I'm from Hollywood, my ex-gf went to his (now ex) wife to get her hair done. She was an interesting person.... and the Slipknot song Nero Forte is about their relationship for a reason lmfao Thank you for attending my TED Talk.

Corey is a genuinely amazing and nice person. I met him at one of their shows, back before they really blew up. It was crazy meeting him and getting autographs because I had befriended the head of the fan club, and she took me to get an autograph. The cool thing was, back then, you didn't know what he looked like. No one had seen them without their masks on. It was during the opening act though running back into Corey out in the crowd and him telling me and my brother to check out the next band that is about to play, they are so badass he just wanted to get in the crowd and mosh a bit. For any metal fans, the band he was going to mosh to was Mudvayne opening for slipknot the summer before their first Studio Album LD50 released. Corey Taylor is one of my favorite musicians to have met, especially during the time before they were actually famous. Such an experience.

The squeel you're enjoying in the beginning section is what's called a Pick/Pinch harmonic. Its a finess skill on guitar where you lightly touch the guitar string with your picking hand as you pick the string to create a high octave harmonic. It happens in metal all the time. If you're looking for the most Iconic metal song with this technique in it, you need to check out Lamb of God, Laid to Rest. Lyrics are fire

This is by far my favourite reaction to this bamger of a tune. You point out the part where Corey grabs the guys head and draws him into the moment, and that has always stuck with me. It's partly why this one of my favourite music videos. It also strikes me that the vid itself is an analogy for Corey's migraines. The house being his mind, and the horde pushing it's way inside, ripping his brain apart. I once read somewhere that we are both the house and the dweller, and i think that's applicable here. Keep up the great work brother! Much love from scotland 👍
