@@Swiftfilmsuk You're too kind! You should be extremely proud! I did have a question however - when watching your Vlog. @Swiftfilmsuk3 жыл бұрын
@@gianmanp Good question! During marathon training I bought a pair of On cloud (cloud racers I think?). However, these were quite heavy. Three weeks before the marathon I went against everything that I had read and bought a new pair of running shoes - the Nike 4% vaporfly. These were so much lighter and felt really fast. No idea if this was a silly move or not, but the Nike shoes did feel like they made a big difference. Very expensive though!

The one marathon I did I set out w/ a piece of paper where I should be at each mile at a 10min/mile pace. I focused on keeping that pace, and not getting an adrenaline drop, and it worked. The 20 mile sign, where bonking occurs, was at a cemetery, which I thought ironic.

It reassures me that everyone who runs a marathon for the first time has a really enthusiastic phase, then a sad phase, the a long run to shore up confidence, and then does great. I ran my first marathon a little over two months ago and I had done very little training, only 4 runs over 10 miles, 2 tens, a 13.1, and a 20. I was prepared enough, though, and I crossed the finish line, which was the only important thing in my head at that point. Great work man, keep on running.

@@kaylabelle5427 Definitely! The thought of crossing the finish line would get me emotional many weeks before the marathon. I also used that feeling as inspiration when I didn't want to do the training. Once you have crossed that finish line though, you will forever be a marathon runner! At that point you can let all your emotions come flooding out. Not long to go for you now. Very best of luck and do let me now how you get on 👍

Thank you very much! I have revisited that final stretch of the Edinburgh marathon in Musselburgh a few times and I barely recognise it. The last two miles of my race seem like some kind of out-of-body experience. Very strange! Thanks again.

You are incredible. I loved watching your video and found it so inspiring. I would love to be able to one day soon to complete a marathon. my goal is the half atm. I have never been a runner, i always hated it so its hard for me and love the challenge and once im in it I feel happy and present in my body. This was one of the best videos i have watched. And you did this in just a tiny over 3 hours omg! BRAVO

Very humbled by your comment. Thank you so much! 🙏 It is a couple of years since I did this but I do credit the experience with turning me into a runner, which, in turn has changed my life. That phrase gets thrown around way too much, but it is true! I wish you the very best of luck with your half marathon and I hope you get loads out of the experience. Many thanks again!

This was beautiful! Everyone in his life comes across a moment where.it feels like you've hit the wall but life is all about pushing through those last 385 yards and then that beautiful feeling of accomplishment that feeling of to have done it stays with you... what an amazing video! Thank you for this! May you continue to shine and keep yourself and your family proud of you.

Thank you so much! That is such a lovely comment. I absolutely agree with you about the analogy between the marathon and life. I think this is perhaps why I got so much out of my first marathon. Having been through this experience, it has really encouraged me to push myself harder in other areas of my life. Thanks again 🙂

I just ran my first marathon 2 days ago. I cried watching this because I truly felt every emotion you had. There are no words to describe hitting the wall and how it wrecks you to your very core. Good for you for pushing through and finishing!! “Don’t stop when you’re tired. Stop when you’re done.”

That’s an amazing time for a first marathon! I’m 8 months into running myself and ran 2 marathons so far, one was 4:15, the second 3:59, the first one was a sh!tshow after mile 13 because I went out way too fast, hit the wall full force. the second one was cramps-galore because I messed my taper up (walked way too much, did not fuel properly the days before the race) and had a non-running related injury that almost knocked me out at mile 16. So overall, I’m checking all beginners mistakes there are. lol contrary to me, you’re doing amazing , seriously, hats off!!

That is very kind of you. Yes, the wall is a lonely place to be, but it did provide a huge amount of motivation for me to not only finish, but to continue running long after this event. I’ve just turned 43, so can relate to this video a lot!!

Thank you so much! Running definitely has an addictive quality to it. It’s something that I really like about it.
