I’m struggling with acne too and have tried everything literally, topical lotions from doctor, natural skincare, I don’t eat dairy or sugar, tried gluten free everything helped only little or worsened. It feels hopeless, but makes you stronger since you have to learn to love yourself for you and not just concentrate on the skin. Recently I found zilch acne, ordered it and found getglow.to on Instagram and after a lot of hesitation started working with her and I’m excited cause I have seen a lot of improvement, just hoping this will finally help me heal my skin. Sorry for the long ramble and I hope my English is understandable. Strength to all of you beautiful people inside and out!!

I‘ve been on accutane! Acne runs in my family (my dad and 2 older brothers all had it), and so my dermatologist was pretty quick to get me onto it. I tried topical creams and antibiotics that didn’t work and left my skin even more inflamed and sore. I was taking a contraceptive pill and accutane for about a year and a half (and have been off it for about 6 months now!) , and my skin has cleared up so much! but I would definitely say, don’t go on accutane unless you REALLY have to and have tried all the other options! The rest of my family also went on accutane and so it seemed like the only option that would actually improve it. I personally didn’t have too many side affects, but I did find that it changed my mood (made me more irritable, I got upset over the smallest things, felt flat and unlike myself), it changed the texture and volume of my hair, my skin burnt more easily in the sun, and it dries eVERYTHING UP. Like... everything. Skin, eyes, hair, lips... everything. I remember that whenever I washed my face just with water, it would feel like I had a face mask on that was dried and ready to take off. So yeah I would definitely consult a dermatologist about it. For me, my acne was partially because of hormones, but also because of my family history with it. It worked for me, but it might not be the best option for you depending on your circumstances! If you have any questions about my experience with it (I’m not an expert!), feel free to ask! :)

I’ve been on accutane twice (the first dose ended up being too short so the acne came back a year or so later) 🤗 it definitely does work... but it is a pretty severe medication - you have to get tests done for it and it will make your skin crazy dry/uncomfortable while you’re taking it. It can also affect mental health - for me, it didn’t the first time round, but did the second time. Your acne also gets worse before it gets better, which can be a bit discouraging (though perhaps lockdown is the ideal time aha). Personally, it was definitely worth it as it does actually work and made me more confident and comfortable (+ the acne was painful!!) but it’s a personal choice :)

hi darling! I’ve been on a version of accutane for 3 times and my acne came back after a long time each time but when my skin has been clear it’s fabulous. I got dry lips, eyes, skin around the nose and scalp and I feel like the last time it did have a bad impact on my mental health. Moreover one time my hair fell out super bad and it never fully recovered and u have to be careful in the sun and you shouldn’t exercise. I just listed all the things I remember and they were super bad but still probably would do it again bc my skin has always been a big concern of mine...lots of love x🥰

Hi Grace, I've been on accutane twice, and i can honestly say it changed my life for the better. I tried everything, cutting everything out of my diet- sugar, gluten etc But nothing worked. I was on antibiotics for years, from when i was 10/11 until i was 18, when i finally bit the bullet and went to my GP and asked to be referred for a dermatologist and i ended up being prescribed accutane. It changed my skin in a way no other cream, antibiotic treatment, vitamin taking, water drinking or dietary change has. I know for lots of people it causes severe issues for their mental health, but for me my mental health was so badly affected by my acne that if anything accutane has made it better, but thats obviously just my personal experience. Accutane was the best decision I ever made, and I'm so glad I did it!

I took accutane after years and years of suffering with cystic acne. Nothing else helped me but taking accutane and it honestly worked like magic! Downsides are it dries your skin and lips a lot so you need to be careful in the sun and apply a lot of moisturizer and chapstick but honestly it’s really worth it. I’m not sure if it’s diff in the UK but in the US you need to get your blood drawn every month to make sure you aren’t pregnant. I think it’s really worth it for you, especially since nothing else has really worked at clearing your skin. hope this helped !! :)

I went on Accutane for 7 months, it was the best decision ever even with the inconveniences it had. I had very dry skin and dry lips throughout it, but I just moisturized my face a ton and constantly applied Glossier's clear lip gloss (the only thing that made my lips feel moisturized). I took it throughout the summer and it was fine. People always downplay Accutane for the side effects, your skin definitely gets worse before it gets better, but you see your doctor every month so you can always decide to stop taking it. 3 years later and I never get cystic acne, just a few spots here and there and my acne scars are gone!! Love your videos!! xx

I went on roacctune (isotretinoin) around 4 year ago and seriously was one of the best things i've done. My skin was never clear, it would go through periods of having a few spots to then having major breakouts all round my skin (this was the case from the ages of 15-18). I also was prescribed numerous creams, the contraceptive pill and nothing had lasting effects. Finally got a hospital appointment and got prescribed roacctuane. I had appointments at the hospital around every 6 weeks but my sin started clearing up in around the first month and think I took roacctuane for around 3 or 4 months and my skin has been pretty clear since (only get spots around that time of the month and even then only get like 1-3). Personally I did not have any awful side affects (very lucky) whilst on the medication, maybe a few mood swings but nothing drastic (I do know though not everyone is this lucky). Great vlog as always grace, and glad someone else gets sweaty/nervous whilst going through a drive-thru !! xxx

hey grace! i've been where you are right now and it's really hard. from what you've shown us, with your simple cleanser and moisturizer, you're really in a great track! something that really helps with acne, is chemical exfolianting. if you find your skin is very sensitve, try a lactic acid 5% from the ordinary. it's a very gentle exfoliator. if you think you're skin can handle a bit more, i'd suggest the pha toner from the inkey list! the addition of a chemical exfoliant, used twice to 3 times a week, should really help you! channels like Hyram and Mixed Makeup are really helpful if you want to learn more what chemical exfoliating is. it's not as scary as it sounds, i promise! it's way better for you than a scrub and it should really help clear up some bumps. go slow with it, and build up use after some time. (always, always use spf when using chemical exfoliants!!) if you think it's too much to look into, please do consult a dermatologist! (also, i don't think you're skin is "bad" enough for accutane. definitely try other products before trying such a process. results take time and patience)

I have had hormonal acne since I was 12 years old and am 30 now. I have tried literally everything! I finally decided to take Accutane as a last resort and it was the best thing I could have ever done, not only for my skin but for my confidence and overall mental health. Yes, the side effects can be intense, but 6 months of discomfort was nothing compared to the many years I have suffered with acne. Birth control did help a bit while I was on it, but once I went off it everything went haywire, even my periods, and just got progressively worse. I would highly recommend going to see a dermatologist. If you are early into your acne journey there are lots of other things you can try before Accutane, like creams and other medications. Spironolactone is specifically for hormonal acne as it slows down androgen hormones . It didn’t work for me but has worked wonders for others. Best of luck :)

I've literally just finished a 6 month course of roaccutane! This was after years and years of trying different skincare and some other antibiotics. It was my GP who in the end, decided a referral to a dermatologist was the best option. My skin was by no means the worst acne in the world, but it was persistent and really got me down. The main side effects were dryness, I especially suffered with dry lips, eyes and nose but it is very easily managed by being persistent with moisturising and taking care of your skin. I also found my skin was super sensitive and cut/broke really easily and had to be so careful in the sun. I personally didnt experience any of the psychological symptoms and they do assess you first to ensure you dont have a history of depression etc. I would reccomend to anyone who has suffered chronically with acne, no matter how severe/mild. Ps. Happy to answer questions, I loveeeee your vids x

Re: acne. Before considering any harsh medications, I would suggest that you pinpoint the exact cause of your acne. Acne is always a symptom of something else going on in our bodies (or externally because of products etc). If you know for a fact that it's hormonal then you could start figuring out ways to regulate your hormones & help your body out a bit, & through that manage your skin. There are so many possible causes for acne; products you're using, other things that come in contact w your face like bedding/hair products etcetc, allergies, gut problems, diet, overall lifestyle, diseases....& the list goes on. Your best bet is to always find out exactly what is causing it for you & then go from there! I know figuring out exactly what your skin wants & needs take a lot of time, energy, & potentially money... but it's worth it when you know you're tackling the problem long-term & not just masking the root cause. I wish you (or anyone reading this) the best. I know how draining skin problems can be. & with that said, acne is so normal so please remember not to beat yourself up for it!!💕

I started Roaccutane last July. I was nervous about the side effects (especially the depression) and as someone who has suffered from anxiety in the past, I worried I was susceptible to these things. I started on a lower dosage and then increased after a month and it is the best thing I ever did! My acne was particularly bad and I had it for the best part of 10 years (plus I was terrible at remembering to take my tablets) so I finished the course of treatment back in March and I have never been happier! My skin is covered in freckles from the sun and I am so pleased. The scarring I have had has smoothed out aswell so I am very glad!

Grace I was on roaccutane a few years ago, side effects were quite drastic (very dry lips, like so painful), my skin became very sensitive to sunlight while I was on it, dry nose (nosebleeds) but it was SO worth it, I had bad acne for years and now I’ve had clear skin ever since

I've been on Accutane - I was hesitant as i was afraid of it causing scarring. My dermatologist put me on another antibiotic before starting Accutane, in order to reduce the inflammation first and therefore cause less scarring. I am so glad I took the course - it's been 3 years, and my skin is still so clear! Definitely consider it if you're fed up with skin problems 🙈❤️

Hiya grace I’m just about to go on roaccutane it is a JOURNEY let me tell you... it is a massive faff to go on, so many phone calls blood tests, going on the contraceptive pill and at home pregnancy tests. But honestly I think it’s going to be worth it, just waiting for my prescription to go to my pharmacy then I will be good to go. I am so excited! I am 23 and have two kids and acne just ain’t it sis... not something I can deal with anymore. Hopefully I can keep you updated on how it goes!

I've struggled with acne for years (especially on my chin, forehead and cheeks) I've tried everything. I've cut out dairy, meat, sugar, fried foods (don't recommend it), started exercising, drank a lot of water. The only thing that helped me was salicylic acid and vit c serum. Now, I rarely get big spots, and my skin is almost perfectly smooth.

Been on accutane twice! First when I was 17 and then again when I was 21. Both times for 6 months. IT. WAS. REVOLUTIONARY. No negative side effects except dry lips. Definitely definitely do it ☺️

accutane helped my back and face acne so much!! however the biggest side affect I noticed was the dry skin, you constantly need moisturiser and my lips were particularly bad. Besides that, my skin has been relatively clear since so super duper worth it!!

I used accutane and it made such a difference!!! I used to have spots and very very oily skin and now i only gets spots every once in a while. I took it during my sophomore year of high school for about a year and now I am a sophomore in college and it hasn’t ever gotten back to like it used to. Definitely recommend!

I’ve been on Accutane before, and of course your doctor knows best, but I had a good experience and my skin has been soooo much better. I had a few horrible side effects (dry lips, sensitive skin and back pain) but they weren’t severe at all and were only temporary of course!

my acne used to be horrendous (it was a combination of fungal and hormonal acne so antibiotics and creams didn't work and get rid of it completely since there were 2 types of it) and my doctor prescribed me with a birth control called dianette and antibiotics called lymecycline and it saved my skin!!! i've been v lucky and had no side effects from the pill and it has controlled period cramps and mood swings and my acne went so win win:) id defo look into it but i understand that it's not for everyone :)

Hey Grace 😊 roaccutane does really work but it’s a bit of a struggle. I took it for about six months and it really dries out your skin to the point of waking up with your lips bleeding every morning. It aggravates depression and anxiety for those who suffer from it and from that point of view I really struggled. But since I took it a few years ago I’ve never had acne again, like the odd spot every now and then but nothing as bad as before. It also made my face more sensitive and prone to sunburn but other than that I think the benefits outweighed the negatives. Hope that helped! Lots of love 🥰

I’m currently on my sixth month of Accutane, I had pretty moderate but consistent acne like you Grace and it’s completely cleared my skin but it’s hardcore stuff. The side effects are quite hard to adjust to but if like me, you’ve tried everything and your skin makes you feel self conscious then I’d say it’s worth it! If you wanna know more about the process/side effects then let me know! xxx

I’ve been going to the derm since I was 13, and I’m 23 now. I would definitely recommend seeing a dermatologist so they can assess and diagnose your skin. Once you know the “type” of acne you’re dealing with and potentially get a prescription, the skincareaddiction reddit threads have been really helpful for me to educate myself on products for my specific needs. Best of luck in whatever you choose, and don’t let acne get you down bc you’re still beautiful inside and out

I feel you Grace, I tried everything I eventually got put on accutane (although it had a slightly different name back then) but same thing regardless and it was the best thing. The only side effect I got was dry lips, I'm not say it doesn't cause others but that was mine. Plus there lots of scary stuff about its link to depression etc but I was put on it after having been diagnosed with depression. So just don't believe everything you read online! For me it worked miracles 🙌 you just have to do what's best for you but like yourself mine were always hormone spots! Anyway hope that helped 😌 have a good weekend 💕

After nearly 3 months of not leaving the house sitting round and eating I own about 35 pairs of various jeans (I work in a charity shop) and last time I checked I fitted in about 4 pairs so it’s track suit bottoms until I lose a stone this is the side effect of lockdown no one mentioned! If there is a second wave I will probably never be able to leave the house again!

I was on accutane for about 9 months, best decision I've ever made. Wasnt nearly half as bad as I was told it would be, I really just had dry lips and that's it. I luckily didnt have a flair up at the beginning either. I really recommend giving it a try and seeing how you react. I wish I could take it forever tbh because it was nice not having to wash my hair every day 😂

I went on accutane when I was 14 and it was the best decision I have ever made, I had really bad acne and at first it makes your skin worse but a lot of people experience that and then it starts to get better. It really had a effect in my lips as they were so dry and I would recommend going on it in the winter as its not good with too much sun exposure.

ive been on accurate and I couldn't recommend it more! acne + pores + skin texture = completely gone. the side effects are 100% worth it for the results. another bonus is that you dont get greasy hair as oil production completely stops.the no oil production will also last 8 months after you end the treatment and after that it will be just how it should. You will be left with permanent clear skin for the rest of your life, truly amazing. Your skin will be extremely dry and your lips may peel but Aveeno cream, Aveeno body wash, aquaphor ointment and blistex will save your life. I would also recommend cetaphil sensitive face wash as it was recommended by my derm and was hydrating as well as so cleansing.
is this real life?!
