Attempting to do my very first mission in Elite Dangerous, and I was not as easy as I thought.

I’m a Star Citizen vet who had never played ED till a couple weeks ago. Well…I have not logged in SC since. ED’s gameplay is just so good!

Thanks! I heard so many players in SC says how good is SC and they all switch to SC from ED, but now I tried ED, i realized so many ideas in SC are actually from ED, and so far you can actually play in ED for as long as you want without major bugs

Same here hahahaha, although, when I first played ED, it was the OG game that the OP is playing...and I couldn't jive with it.....but now I got the odessey add-on, it's now waaaaayyyyyy better than star citizen!!!! I haven't stopped playing since!!!!

As somewhat of a veteran ED player that is not interested in SC at all, I can still say you will come back to SC occasionally. And then come back to ED again. It is definitely an of/off love affair for most of us.

Tips and hints on these events in the video; 1: To repair or refuel a stranded ship, you need to equip a repair or refuel limpet controller. The controller requires limpets (purchased from the advanced maintenance tab at a starport) and limpets require cargo space. After bought a limpet controller, equip it via the fire control tab on the right screen in the cockpit. Target the ship to repair or refuel and the limpet will do its job. 2: To scoop up materials, deploy the cargo hatch and approach no faster than 40m/ps. To scoop cargo, do the same thing but make sure you have available cargo space. 3: To find you mission location in the system that you’re in, go to the system map and look for a blue 2D globe on a planetary body or starport. If you can’t find it, use your FSS and scan the system.

"40m/ps" holy crap, that's fast (metres per picosecond). 😂 For picking up stuff you could have mentioned collector limpets, but doing it by hand first is more fun. ;)

You can absolutely do team missions solo. They just offer the opportunity to work with a wing and everyone in the wing will get the full reward for completion. Very good for making money quickly if you have teammates

1:1 scale, over 100 billions of the stars and each can be visited. Some things are predicted. For example, when in Real Life they found Trappis system, planets there ...well, it is in Elite :) and matches 80% to real world observations (it was renamed to Trappis inside game too, so can be found).

​Don't get too excited, you can't land on gas giants and on Earth-like planets with thick atmosphere, also if you don't have Odyssey you can't land on any planet with an atmosphere (planets with blue bubble on system map). Other planets are generic rocky bodies with occasional station or outpost on them

There's a few stages you missed. Easy to miss at the start. You need to run the discovery scanner on the system, then run a FSS scan on the system. Then the signal sources relevant to your mission will be highlighted.

Typically, when you need to find something for a mission in a system, go to the nav beacon location and scan the nav beacon itself (just target it and wait a few seconds). After that, just back into supercruise and check your navigation tab for a location highlighted in blue - that will be the place you need to go. BTW - You may have dodged a bullet, giving up on that mission. Had you found the commercial samples, a) you would have to know how to use your cargo scoop and b) you would have been immediately ambushed.

To collect things in space you need to open your cargo scoop (indicator in bottom right corner). Next target the thing and aim the cargo scoop reticule to the left of of your radar (blue). Mind your speed as crashing into it to hard can break the thing destroying your mission.

I'm not sure if you've found this out or been told already, but there are a number of tutorials that you have to access through the main menu and are not given through the main gameplay loop. They have stuff on mining and bounty hunting as well as other things, though they all aren't super well thought out or designed, but they'll get you started. There's also a DLC for the game called Odyssey that allows for you to exit your ship on planet surfaces and in starports. Unfortunately there are no ship interiors, but it's better than nothing. Also, I know quite a few people told you already about how large the Elite universe is, but what I find very interesting is that about 0.05% of the entire playable area has been discovered, so there's plenty of systems that have never been seen before. What's even cooler is that when you discover a system, you get your name put on a discovery list so anyone else visiting the system to scan it will see your name as the first person to be there. You can also get a huge amount of credits from doing this, but it requires a large amount of time and travelling thousands of lightyears, so it's not the most beginner friendly gameplay loop out there.

@@Foxyloxy.X I have to respectfully disagree about exploration not being beginner friendly. Once you get a ship that can jump more than 20 Ly and a fuel scoop, you can do exploration. Add a Detailed Surface Scanner, and maybe a Surface Recon Vehicle bay and you can be off to the races, as it were, in exploration. I made my first Billion Credits flying out to Colonia (25,000 Ly) off the beaten path by a bit in an unmodified Diamondback Explorer just mapping every star system and planet I found. It took me a few months, but when I sold all that nav data, I was a billionaire. That DBX was my second ship purchase after I was done with my Hauler.

To repair a ship in space, including your own, you need to buy limpets. Next you need to buy a controller for the specific purpose you want to use the limpets for. Note that limpets are like ammo and needs to be restocked after usage.

Me, seeing hollows on map of a new player who's already outside the starter zone: *sweats profusely* "ohnoohnoohnoohnoohno" On the side of tips, I'd give only one that will be very debated: "don't take/seek tips at the start, unless something is VERY NOT FUN for you". Elite Dangerous is a LOT about the discovery: mechanics, modules, ships, and so many other stuff. Having it readily given might spoil some of the fun of the discovery. Otherwise, if that spoiling doesn't bother you, there will be tons of tutorials out there.

Scanners are bought as there are different types. Next you need to assign it to a weapons group. Lastly you need to change mode of the ship, usually 'M' which should turn your HUD blue. Press 'M' again to go back to orange combat mode.

What a ridiculous comment. You tell me you never got a bounty in this game at all, and you became so good at this game when you first played it baby. My carrier is serving me very well and I have enough reserve to take care of it for years to come.
