It's time to explore what New Hampshire has for legal, publicly accessible wheeling! A Class 6 road in New Hampshire is similar to a Class 4 road in Vermont: A town highway that's been discontinued and currently exists in an unmaintained (but still accessible) state. Lucky for me, there are quite a few of these trails right around where I currently live. This video shows my very first exploration of a Class 6 in the Upper Valley...and it didn't disappoint! I cannot WAIT to check out more of these hidden gems.
Also, in case there's any confusion, Class 6 roads are frequently subject to a "Gates and Bars" regulation, meaning a landowner adjacent to a Class 6 road can place place a gate in front of the entrance to the road. These gates must be publicly accessible such that the road can still be used. Cool stuff!
