Great to see the V4WD of old on the road again, almost. Orangy, pizza, coffee, pack raft, to go or not to go decisions. The only thing missing was a toasted cheese sandwich 😂

It's a wonder I didn't run into you up in Northern VT. We spent 1 day exploring the Nulhegan Basin area (hiking and driving) up near Island Pond ------ we'll have to come back. It was more than we expected. We'll do another run in a month.

I enjoyed your video, but I gotta say you missed a huge opportunity here. There is indeed dispersed camping in Vermont, just not in the tourism areas you were in. I live in the NEK (North East Kingdom) and my family and I go dispersed camping every summer. Vermont allows 3 consecutive days of camping on any state land that isn't a state park provided it is 200ft from any road and 100ft from any waterway. This summer we set up camp in Victory State Forest. Now there's an opportunity for adventure, because at the top of radar road is an abandoned cold war era radar station built in the 1950s with most of the structures still standing. Another thing I really wish you would have mentioned is that in Vermont we have something similar to a "right to roam" law. Even if it is private property, unless it is posted, it is deemed permissible to access for the purpose of recreation (hunting, fishing, trapping, and scouting for the aforementioned).

I love to hear that 4 wheel low gear. Beautiful video of VT backwoods. I have done a lot of hiking there on the the Long Trail. I just spent a week in July at a similar VT State campground just east of there. I went there to escape the heat and it was beautiful. Temperatures barley hit 80 degrees during the day and 50 degrees at night. With the peace and serenity I slept like a baby in my tent. Northern Vermont is very special. I did a few day trips exploring the covered bridges in the area and also visited northern NH. Safe travels Chris.

Usually booked six months now in advance. Today I was just browsing and found a nice campsite in late October with a 4 consecutive day slot. Booked!!!!

Chris shock your front drive shaft rezapa joint if it’s stock front drive shaft, you could have torn the boot on the crossmember or exhaust during flex. I did it once, went with terraflex high angle rezppa joint, due to cost of new drive shafts, until I went to 6” lift on 37’s and now it’s a new Adams driveshaft. With your height you are at the point to where it could have torn and grease leaked out. It will pop in 4x4 and especially during flex. Take a look there you will know, black grease sprays all over heat shield

Those are tubes for for collecting the sap to make maple syrup.
@sonnicman
@sonnicman 2 жыл бұрын
As Matt had stated, their for the collection of Maple Tree sap, which is then refined into Syrup. That’s where the term “Maple Syrup” comes from. It’s a huge business in Vermont. You typically need warm days and cool nights for the best production. They run the tubes because it’s far easier to have the sap run into one large collection bucket, as opposed to using a bucket for every single tree you tap.

@@sonnicman I have seen in other videos where they pound the tap into the tree and sling a bucket underneath to catch the runoff. Thanks for the reply! Helped me to learn more. ❤️

I loved seeing all the stone fences in all three states. Plus a LOT of really OLD towns. Ate at Sal's Pizza in Concord, NH. Rated highest in town and it was very good. Good to see you hobbling around and Orangy off-road and doing her thing. Thank you!!!

(That pizza looks so delicious!!!) Good choice for a vehicle, when your traveling in back roads such as in Vermont - what high clearance!! One must be careful, not only because, as you have encountered, the road might be impassible, but, once, a long time ago, I was in northwestern CT ( civilization by comparison to Northern Vermont!), and drove a few miles on a back road, and the road gradually petered out to a non road - became a meadow!!! I had to drive all the way back!!! After that experience, I am quite leery to go on back roads!

Hello Chris and Shannon, I’m still amazed the terrain a Jeep can traverse, and I know yours is not heavily modified. Guess if all comes down to taking your time while not abusing your equipment… It’s great to see you up and about adventuring despite your injuries. Beautiful scenery there in Vermont, I’ve not been there since the early 80’s… I’m not a drone pilot but I’m wondering if you could utilize one for those trail side shots such as at 17:15. Have the drone hover along side the trail while you drive past, then direct it to return to you there by saving the hike back for the equipment… Stay safe out there
