My first Omega and why I bought the Dynamic Chronograph over the Speedmaster

I try very hard to diversify my content as well and will feature big known watch brands, microbrands as well as Aliexpress watches.
The majority of the watches I feature are in the affordable range but I do try and get some less affordable watches as well.
Most of the watches that I feature I have bought with my own money. I buy them to enjoy and wear but I also to feature them on this channel.

I have the exact same watch, but with the original brown suede leather strap. I won it in a contest at Birks in Montreal several years ago during Swiss Watch Week. I would love to have the original steel bracelet, but it's hard to find on the resale market. In any case, it's a great watch, by far the favorite in my collection, and I own quite a few (Omega Speedmaster, Breitling Chronomat, Patek Philippe Calatrava, IWC Mark XX, etc.)

I bought one of these a few years ago (before the watch boom) because I thought it was unique enough, and the seller stated that it was not working. So I bought it for around $1100, knowing that I'd need to have it repaired. It arrived actually working, but after a few months it needed to repaired. After a trip to the repair shop and around $450 later. it works so well and is one of my favorite pieces in my collection. And no parts were needed only a good cleaning.

I really like that Omega, I much prefer the dial/hand design over the Speedmaster and it looks so much better without the tachymeter that nobody ever uses. I would always factor in the cost of a full Omega service when buying a twenty year old example. Enjoy it 👍

That's a well cool omega, and not one of the more popular/famous models. So congrats on a great choice (and it is). Love your thought process in the purchase decision, you've saved yourself from an expensive mistake (if only I would show some of that in some of my purchasing decisions, but I'm learning 😅 still). I reckon it's a bit of a strap monster could even rock a nato,so plenty of options. Awesome watch, great video keep them coming.

Sweet buy!!....i bought a seamaster gold and SS in 95 for my 40th B'day. It was a model they advertized in the Architectural design magazine,list price was around $6000. USD, i got it new for $3500. Canadian,.....i sincerely hope you love yours as much as i loved mine, they are great watches!

Hi James love the video, like you I too found it hard to find an Omega that fitted all my criteria, size, style, look, type and cost, my preferred type was the Seamaster but the new ones were just too big for my average wrist. In the end after much debate and searching I found a 2009 Seamaster Planet Ocean that met my requirements, that was all two years ago now and I’m still in love with it. The moral of the story and one that you put across perfectly is don’t be afraid of looking back at their older models as you may well find one that fits you perfectly, just be careful who you buy it from as there are lots of fakes and scam artists. Keep up the great work and enjoy the Omega.

Congratulations on your watch, it's a beauty. It can be surprising how many brain cells we devote to the internal debate about watches. I like the Omega Seamaster 300, but it's very expensive. The other day I saw a Pagani Design "homage" for considerably less, and it looked great...what to do? My brain continues to perculate...great review, thank you!

Very nice. Congrats on the acquisition. They are a legendary watch maker for sure. I think if I ever had the money to get an Omega (which will most likely be never), I would get the Speedmaster 57 with the patina hands or a Aqua Terra with the silvery white dial.

Very nice buy James, enjoy it. Too often people are just focusing on the newer Seamaster and Speedmaster and don't look at other watches, particularly in the pre-owned market. I actually think your watch is a nicer looking watch than some of the newer ones. The yellow on black is stunning. I'd be a little worried about buying a 20 year old watch, not because of the quality but more how it was treated and has it been serviced. I can see from looking at yours however, that this was lovingly treated. Though I couldn't handle pulled hairs, I'd probably put it on a good quality strap straight away!

I’m definitely looking at getting it serviced soon. I did take that into account when considering the cost. I think this watch is NOS. There is not a mark on it and the bracket had never been resized. Incredible Also looking into strap option and wearing in the bracelet. It’s getting a bit better.

Congratulations, James, that Omega is gorgeous. Are you an engineer? I ask because I am an engineer and find that the systematic manner in which you conduct your analysis of watches & watch purchases to be very much in line with that which a left brain person / highly technical person would do. I have an 18 year old Omega Seamaster Professional Chronograph, and last year I bought the Omega Speedmaster Professional Moon Watch which I have to admit despite liking the watch, I spent US $7K in part because of the name, and I almost felt I needed to have this watch in my collection. I love it, but there were a lot of other parameters that influenced my purchase other than just the pure love and liking of the piece. Enjoy your beautiful Omega in good health, my friend. Nice watch and a good size, nice buy👍. I purchased the FOIS, which fits my wrist better than the moon watch. The case and pushers remind me of the Longines Avigation Bigeye I have, but the omega is more compact. Maybe a size longines should have used 🤔 but I still love the watch 😊 Keep up the great content 👏 👍

Nice watch James. I would’ve preferred stick indices as opposed to the numerals,but the pops of yellow look great. Even at 38mm it wears nice on the wrist-as long as you keep on shaving it 🪒 😅

That Omega chrono is cool. Nice purchase. Yeah many vintage-modern Omega’s bracelets are kind of a mess. I had a Seamaster 120 and I had to take to the watchmaker to size the bracelet for me. The pins were too stiff. Not a big issue but if you put that many on a watch you expect better mechanized parts.

I don’t disagree with you very often mate and I respect your reasoning but I don’t think I’ll be giving up on my speed master aspirations or omega aspirations for this watch, it’s actually kind of boring and for me way to small for a chronograph. I’ve seen several older versions of the speed master lately between 2500-4000 that I would choose over this one. Each to their own I guess, I do like how you have been moving to some higher end “entry level “ luxury watches lately and I hope to be doing the same sometime soon 👍
