Hey! I also suffer from binge eating for a long period of time. This greatly spoils my life and health, I constantly try to fight it but I still break down and everything repeats again. So, I would like to know how you deal with this disorder? What helps you? Sorry if I'm intruding...
@TarotLadyLissa
@TarotLadyLissa 3 жыл бұрын
@@mell_kr Not intruding at all! I have done a lot of therapy and self-reflection. Learning what triggers a binge is key! I'm an emotional eater, and I learned to incorporate other coping mechanisms that weren't food-related. Honestly, my advice is to seek out a mental health professional. Specifically, one that has experience with eating disorders. There's absolutely NO SHAME in seeking help. We see a doctor when our bodies are ill, so we shouldn't feel bad going to a doctor for our mental health too!

@@mell_kr I am no specialist in any way, shape or form but I have found that the YT channels of Kiana Docherty and Abbey’s Kitchen to contain helpful tool against binge eating. They both refer a lot to scientific studies which is great (for instance, Abbey explains how when you restrict (eg by not listening to your hunger or by cutting out entire groups of foods) you may trigger a scarcity mentality which makes you binge when it’s time to eat). Hope you find these helpful

The raw honesty in this vlog is admirable.... So helpful to see the ups and downs of recovery because it's not an easy process and is such a rollercoaster. Plus when emotions kick back in they're all deregulated because they have been suppressed by the ed or as you say you have taken them out on yourself through ed behaviours.... Your brain needs time to take stock and remember what to do with the various emotions when they come.... Allowing yourself to feel them is the first step and just remember that ALL emotions are valid and they pass.... Sit through the really hard emotions and wait for them to pass, then keep pushing forward 💕

"Feeling the feelings and moving on" is probably the best advice. I learned that most of our bad habits are made out of the avoidance of pain, but the most helpful thing you can do is let yourself feel and experience the discomfort so you don't do anything harmful just to avoid the pain. Ro, please don't cry. You literally look better and better with every new video. Also, I just want to let you know that puffy face during recovery is a very very common thing. It's just water retention because your body has been deprived and this is a good sign that you’re starting to feed it again. My face was very swollen during the first 2 years, of recovery, which made me super insecure and thought I was "fat". But trust me, I am now 3 years into recovery and considered myself fully recovered, my face is no longer swollen and is completely back to normal. Keep fighting and you will see the difference!!

I'm so proud of you!!! Congrats on your progress! You remind me so much of me when I started recovery. I can relate to the joy of getting your freedom back so much. But I also relate to body image problems. I spent years having very negative thoughts about my looks. Seeing you going through the same/similar thing is making me realize even more that your head can lie to you and that other things, like anxiety or stress, can be actually behind these thoughts. I often ask myself these days: if I feel sad when people think negatively of themselves, why would I do the same thing to myself? I deserve to take up space in this world, too. Realizing this and becoming more self-aware is the most rewarding part of recovery.

I'm so grateful that you're posting even when you're having a difficult day. Your peptalk put a smile on my face. I don't have an ed but I am recovering from depression and I'm in a constant battle with my brain as well. This week was kinda shitty for me, but now I am going to follow your example and just keep going!
