I competed at the Silver Spurs Rodeo in the barrel racing event for many years back in the 70's. It was a big open grassy arena back then. On one 4th of July weekend we hit 4 rodeos Thursday through Sunday. I knocked over barrels at the first 3 but made up for it by winning the Silver Spurs on Sunday. I have not seen the arena since it has been closed in so I was very excited for this video. My husband is announcing a small rodeo in Hilliard, Fl right now. I can't wait until it's over and I can show him this video. I feel sure will recognize some of the contestants and will probably know who the barrel clown was. 8 Seconds reminds me of back in the day when I was traveling to the rodeos with my mother and husband. Great move. I watch your videos regularly. I love the theme parks and enjoyed the memory trip with you and your dad but this is my new favorite. 🐎💕

8 seconds is a great movie. Rodeos are enjoyable too. Roping is an actual way of catching cattle to give them medicine. Steer wrestling is more of a sport but those animals are really strong. It doesn’t hurt them.

I was at the California state fair and they had a rodeo so I went in and watched for a little while. They were tackling baby calves when one came out so scared he ran straight across the whole arena and jumped the fence out of there but he broke his leg. I also was changing channels and happened to watch the same sport and first one the guy tied up the calf but he broke it’s leg. I only watched a total of 20 min and saw two calves get broken legs. I like the barrel racing but the bucking stuff is scary for the riders. I grew up going to horse races at mostly Santa Anita but even that is sad when a horse dies. One time the favorite was a filly, we were waiting to go in (the last race was free to enter) but the next to last race was always the biggest of the day. My dad was saying how she won every race and she was little, saw her walk past. She broke her leg too. I love animals, seeing this is hard, I rarely go.

When I was a kid, before I became old and broken, I would visit family in Iowa every summer. At my Aunt's farm... we jumped on horses like city kids jumped on bikes... we rode EVERYWHERE, all day! We also went to little horse shows and rodeos... I did a bit of barrel racing... just for fun. Our horses weren't quite as classy as these well trained ones.... but still barrel racing was fun...and was mostly for us girls while the boys did calf roping and calf riding.

This Arena is actually the best one I’ve ever seen! As long as they are not injuring animals, I like to see a good rodeo. I grew up in Florida and went to very small areas and also went to some others like I’ve been Washington state, and even Texas. But this particular one is rather awesome. Thanks for doing this for us. And yes, your T-shirt is the bomb.!!!

Silver spurs Arena… Sweetie! I don’t know why they chased after the little calves like they did they used to let them out and then run after them and rope them to get them down when I was a kid, so this was kind of new news and a little ridiculous if you ask me . I’m with you I didn’t like it Adam!
