This is my first ever video that I made of my own as a visually disabled and challenged person. The video was a high test and challenge itself for me in different context. First, an emergency call I received from Dr. Zafeer Kiyani (a linguistic in AJK University, Muzaffarabad who requested me to make a video clip and send my background and reflection on a workshop that they had conducted in Karakoram International University in July 2022. I had also participated in the program. Second, the time schedule was so tight and how could I manage someone to make video for me as my younger daughter was not available who helps me out in most of the cases. Third, the video needs required light and the electricity supply is so aggravated in Gilgit. Then comes to upload the video and it requires speedy Internet services and it is also worst in the tiny city and after mid-night it becomes relatively better. What could be done? In such situations, I ventured and made the video myself of my own, which needs to be seen critically while remaining within my shoes (-.
I will be making self-vidoes more as I have been coming across availability of related second person. I would appreciate your kind feedback in this regard if you think my video contents are enriched and of any value to you and other audience.

Hi friends: I’m Fazal Amin Beg of Gulmit in the beautiful Hunza valley, Gilgit-Baltistan Region, Northern Pakistan. I’ve got my master’s degree in Persian language and literatures, my M. Phil specialization in sociocultural anthropology , both from peshawar University. I’d also qualified my PhD coursework from Quaid Azam University, Islambad in July 2011 but haven’t got my degree as I lost my eyesight on the one hand and could not get adequate financial support to continue with my fieldwork within anthropology. I’ve conducted so far dozens of fieldwork around different topics in the Northern Pakistan, southwestern China, northeastern Afghanistan and southeastern Tajikistan. Most of these fieldwork I’ve carrid out in the Northern Pakistan, even including Kashmir as I’ve spent six months in Muzaffarabad during the Earthquake relief time in 2008. I’ve participated in dozens of workshops, seminars and confernces at national and international scales around different themes. In the linguistic domain, I have been working for over three decades. I’ve also compiled anthology of poetries of over one 120 poets. I’ve also developed wordlist of over 30,000 Wakhi words for the purpose of developing dictionary. More than 20 books are underway but could not proceed in them due to unavailability of financial resources. I’ve also worked on some aspects of Wakhi Grammar in addition to collection of over a thousand proversbs and ideoms.
Although, it was not a new thing for me when I got an invitation to participate in a four day workshop organized by AJK University. The workshop entitled “Capacity Building Training Program in Language Documentation for Public Sector Universities of AJK and GB.” The workshop was funded by United States Education Foundation, Pakistan (USEFP).
Participants of the workshop were the faculties of the above universities and also some language representatives. The workshop or event organized around the title was so attractive especially to those who were novice in the field. Although, the content of the capacity building program around the title for so attractive, for persons like me many aspects were not new. It was great to meet new people from diferent language communities and universities and build academic friendship with them. I must say that the organized program was fantastic and great, though there seemed some dearth of seriousness in participation and some management loopholes. I may be wrong in this regard. More and more programs of such nature with honest will to dliver to the target communities should be the top priority. Though, last but never least, genuine inclusiveness in practice would be required for the upcoming workshops or any program arranged for the target communities. People like me who have become visually disabled or have other challenges should honestly an generously be accepted and must not be considered weird or burden at any cost. They have their utmost fundamental rights and they need to be facilitated and must not be treated like a person with normal mobility and requirement.
