1:26:45 Back when the original Silent Hill came out, I worked for Gamestop. I'd tell customers who asked about it that games like Resident Evil will wait around the corner, jump out at you and bite you in the face. Silent Hill...well Silent Hill creeps into your mind, makes a nest, and just lives there. The series, at least up to 3 which is the last one I played, is much more about atmosphere and building tension instead of relying on cheap tricks and jump scares. This isn't a knock on Resident Evil since I love those games as well, but it's just a different kind of horror than what Silent Hill presents which, to me, puts it higher on the list of horror games. I like a game that builds that tension and dread. You also had me cackling at 1:13:50. I'm loving your running commentary, it matches my own with games like these. It helps to blow off the tension. Can't wait to watch the rest of your playthrough.

Some tips: Just because an enemy goes down, doesn’t mean it’s dead. Always hit them a few more times while they’re on the ground to make sure they don’t get back up. You can tell how your health is by the coloured border around the screen. You played most of this with James injured. That’s why there was a red border around the screen the whole time ;) you can also see your health by the colour of the PS controller! Explore more! There’s more building you can enter either by door or breaking a window and climbing in. Also check cars. They can also contain health items etc..

Syringes can also be used to heal, and they heal by a larger amount than the health drinks. Tap the heal button for the drinks and hold it to use a syringe. 🙂

The sound design is super authentic. Basically just the original sounds remixed. I remember my mom yelling at me to turn the original game down because the sounds were freaking her out.

Silent Hill 2 is my favorite horror game ever made. I also think the remake is one of the scariest games I've played in years and looks so incredible 🤯. It's not about the gameplay but just a long movie that I think everyone should experience. And with that the remake just had to make in more modern and it looks great.

I'm kind of OCD about collecting every object, so I used a strategy guide when I played the PS2 version, was curious if it would still be useful for the PS5 game? 🕵️‍♂️

@@Matthatter1399 They added a few things, mostly exploration-wise and puzzles. Some new cutscenes here and there. A bit more combat in a few later areas. Mostly it all just feels a lot more fleshed out? I think your guide should still hold but honestly, it might just be older-gamer-instincts kicking in, but you'll do fine with just the in-game map. Everything's there, you just need to... find it. It's been an amazing ride so far, bringing all the feels.

That was excellent for someone not familiar with SH2. A game that defined the psychological horror genre. You picked up on a few key points and there's still a lot to be discovered in this narrative. Just a heads up that this remake is long, they've added quite a bit to an already pretty lengthy game for its type. NOT a game that should be rushed though, the opposite. This is a game that you drink in.

You should play te OG after this one. They offer different aproaches in some things. At least, in storytelling, music and artistic direction, the OG is more haunting and ethereal, and personally better in that regard. Also puzzles were harder if you like to think =)

The visuals are kinda off. Good thing there are mods to fix those problems like particle trails and shiny pixelated hair. Even performance issues were fixed by modders. I thought there was something wrong with my pc, but then I'm using a 4090, so it's weird to have stutters. Turns out it wasn't optimized well.
