Just got GT DD Pro this week and it feels amazing. I've been using Logitech products the past 16 years and i kinda felt like i wanted to upgrade to a better rig. I have it currently mounted to a table with table clamp, but it still feels really solid - although my Ikea table doesn't really like the idea. I've haven't been driving a lot lately, but i still managed to beat few of my old personal laptime records after 5 hours of practising with this wheel. It's so much easier to drive when you can feel all the little bumps and forces thanks to the good FFB Direct drive gives. With Logitech wheels i kinda had to guess what the car was doing and it made my driving really inconsistent. I honestly don't have anything bad to say about the GT DD Pro - it's worth of buying. Edit: Great video, i enjoyed it. Hope you have a great week! :)

The real benefits with that set-up come with time, for me it was 2 months after I realised how much more details and information I get from the wheel compared to 29 - so much more. But these are subtle, and one must spend hours to fully comprehend it. I also recommend using good flat rubber shoes and cleaning them before each race to have a good grip on the pedals. A metal link connecting the chair and pedal platform is needed when using all braking power with a loadcell

Glad you're enjoying your new "toys". The biggest difference by far comes from a decent loadcell pedal set and all the stuff being bolted to a cockpit, though. They make you a lot more constant, which in turn makes you much more confident in the car you're driving and that confidence makes you faster. Not by a lot if you're a competent driver already but it helps tremendously on sectors or circuits that you're a bit more hesitant to push it to the limit. Edit: Saudações do Brasil, gajo!.

this is awesome! some tips for a better driving experience are choosing the right sims and the right cockpit, f1 2020 is far from the ideal game to maximize your experience on a wheel, rfactor2, acc, raceroom and even iracing will be much better, second is that that next level racing cockpit might be a bit too weak for the full 8nm csl DD, itl absorb the finer details and whilst passable of an experience, youre not maximizing the capability of the wheel. I think you can get a much sturdier rig from GT omega for around the same price, none the less, awesome video!
@carlosribeiroo2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Jerry :) I do agree with everything but I think for now I will have to stick with the GT Lite since even though you can find cockpits like the GT omega that you suggested for around the same money, if you buy it will a seat it around 350 which is more then double what I paid for the GT Lite (155) I would also have to factor in the space since even though I don't fully fold it in just tucking in the pedals and the seat makes it easy to set aside in the corner of my office, and right now I simply don't have the space to dedicated just to Sim Racing

Great video Carlos, great choice on all the gear! A couple of things tho, first one is that I recommend you upgrading the Quick Release on the mclaren rim these are known to break overtime (huge oversight from Fanatic) and lastly like you've said you might want to consider upgrading your cockpit, while the Next level is great for the convenience of being able to fold it and put it away, you are losing a ton of detail from the DD motor with all that play that would help further improve your race craft.
@tomasmenezes36832 жыл бұрын
I think the quick release isn’t a problem really, I’ve had mine for a while and it’s ok, I actually prefer it to the metal one sometimes as the metal one can be noisy in certain situations, I think only if you’ll only have problems when getting a defective one and in that case, fanatec will have to send a new one.
@carlosribeiroo2 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks for the comment :) I have already found certain limitations with the quick release mainly a very slight play when the force feedback kicks in on high speed corners. Nothing major and for now I don't intend on spending more money on the setup, but something to keep in mind particularly when fanatec releases an updated metal quick release. Regarding the cockpit, even though I completely agree with you unfortunately I don't have too much space so the setup will have to be something similar to this in size and weight (and also price) so with all that I still can't justify something that would be an big upgrade but who knows in the future!
@carlosribeiroo2 жыл бұрын
Interesting that the metal one makes some noises, didn't know that! I will stick with this plastic one at least until fanatec launches an updated version of their metal one (and until my wallet recuperates from all this ahahha)
@tomasmenezes36832 жыл бұрын
@@carlosribeiroo Yeah, it’s a common problem with the plastic quick release, when turning left to right there’s like a notchy feeling right? I actually found a solution and mine is perfect now, it actually made a huge difference although the notchy thing doesn’t always happen, just put a bit of really thin card or a bit thicker paper in the indetation in the shaft and it will go away! I’ll try to find a link where they show some pictures!
@tomasmenezes36832 жыл бұрын
@@carlosribeiroo Same here ahah I just have the metal one because it was included with the bmw steering wheel I ordered, it’s actually annoying when it makes noises, when the ffb “rumbles” with bumps and stuff like that the metal quick release rattles, the safety screw helps with this but not 100%.

@carlosribeiroo2 жыл бұрын
I have heard about that brake pedal mod and may or may not have a tab open with it that I should probably go close before I'm tempted to spend more money. I also drive with socks and also think that a little more travel could be beneficial, but I think I'll stick with the stock ones for 6 months to really get dialed in and then I'll rethink this decision if I have to. Have the same wheel it's great for the price all day long but the paddle shifters tend to wear out pretty fast and many times lead to the need to double shift in the worst of times. I would recommend a shifter upgrade at some point. You will see.

Great setup, love the DD base and I'm waiting for my CSL DD to arrive. I've heard some of the FFB is dulled out due to collapsible / not v rigid frame of the seat, did you find that to be correct?

@m4rcsscrib Жыл бұрын
Hey man, just a quick question, you might be able to help me with! Just got the exact same setup and everything is great apart form one thing. During high g load corners the ground feedback kinda disappears. There’s still „weight“ in the wheel but the actual feedback disappears until the G‘s decrease. I’m running ffb 100 on the wheel and 75 on the game as recommended by fanatac. Have you had this issue or made similar observations? Playing F123
@carlosribeiroo Жыл бұрын
That sounds really game dependent to be honest. Try your wheel on something like ACC if you can just to clear out any possible issue with the wheel. Go do spa and do eau rouge and I am sure you will feel increase resistance there

Hi Carlos, believe u are using the NLR GTlite cockpit. I read that it is not suitable for a DD wheelbase, may i know ur comments on it with GT DD Pro? I m considering the same setup as u
@carlosribeiroo2 жыл бұрын
Well as you can see on the video it does work but of course it is at its limit and will flex during intensive force feedback and fast turns. Is that a deal breaker? I think if you saw the video and still have that question you will have to try it yourself to figure out since at the end of the day it’s mostly about how much flex are you willing to live with in order to get the compact and somewhat foldable nature that the GT lite provides

Did u ever give the other brake pedal a go? I just bought a 8nm and left out the load cell kit, but I’m starting to think I should’ve picked one up…
@carlosribeiroo Жыл бұрын
I think it’s fair to say that the upgrade from a load cell to a “normal” brake pedal is extremely substantial and it can easily be compared to the upgrade to direct drive. Plus keep in mind that lap time is gained under breaking more than any where else!

The stock plastic quick release does not work long term. It gets looser and looser and in my opinion should be replaced my the much sturdier metal qr1.

Anyone else find the mclaren wheel doesn’t rotate properly? Or reflect the rotation setting in game? I have the sensitivity set to ‘auto’ on the wheel, 360 degrees in game on F122. The wheel turns to just over 180 degrees then seems to be at full lock, and almost goes a bit limp after this?

Boas Carlos! Ando a namorar esse setup há algum tempo mas os tempos de entrega e a falta de stock confesso que me tem deixado de pé atrás. Obrigado e bons vídeos!
@carlosribeiroo2 жыл бұрын

Hey man! Great video! Nice driving! I just ordered the exact same setup(minus the load cell. I might get that later.). Coming from a G29, so I'm super excited! Are you playing on a PC or on a PS5/4? If you're playing on a PS5, did you have to hook the wheel up to a pc for any updates before you could use it on the PS5? Thanks!

Hey! Super happy for you men! Hope you already received everything and are enjoying it! In regards to your question, I plan on playing on the PS5 but for now everything that I have played is on PC. @carlosribeiroo2 жыл бұрын
The DD Pro works with everything, from Playstation to PC and Xbox. Simply plugging in the GT DD to your console or pc will make your setup work no problem. For console you have to connect your pedals to the wheelbase (you probably do that already anyways)

Hey! Thanks for all the positivity, it really has been a fantastic experience and a much needed improvement compared to my previous setup. I have another video on this setup coming out tomorrow where I touch on this exact thing. Unfortunately it's a game of compromises where you either have to spend more money, use more space or live with some flex, so even though I agree with you, for now I think this is the setup I will stick with for better or for worse. It also is substantially better now in comparison to this video after I did some slight modifications to it, but it will never be rock solid
