Hey Erik, well done on the video. Great job narrating and including a variety of different angles/shots.

Great video Erik. I live at the north end of Shawnigan. I often wish I could help some of the visitors doing the Cowichan 8. You did the hardest part of the ride. Those hills through the Sooke Wilderness Trail are so steep. The ride from Shawnigan to Lake Cowichan is dead flat. I do hope you manage to come back.

Glad this vid popped up in my recommendations. It was a good decision to listen to your body and not to push yourself too hard. It's really not about how far or fast you go. Also great colorgrading! Greetings from Germany. 😊

Thank you!!! Really appreciate the comment about color grading we have been working hard to make that better.

Nice video! That was a similar ride a few years ago that started my first bikepacking trip. It’s an awesome route, I have to go back and do the full thing. That was the start to more bike packing trips 😃

I think it's never only fun 😆 During my last one I forgot to eat properly, hit the wall and after that it was miserable. 3 weeks later I started planning next one 🥴

This is rad. Wonderfully put together Erik! Self shooting is tough, but you pulled it off... and whatever your audio setup is for the narration is brilliant.

Thank you! We are still learning so much about how to tell a good story and how to make our shots pop. Greatly appreciate the support.

Beautiful ride! Do we get to see a setup / gear video anytime soon?

Thank you! I think we could work on putting something like that together. Like an overview of what I bring bike-packing and how I carry it?

Enjoyed your first bikepacking trip. I notice that you were using a Go Pro do you mind letting me know what settings you had it on.

Hey, most of this video was actually shot on my Canon EOS R. But for my GoPro (hero 5) I shoot on protune settings. I think the key is to have the color profile set to flat, white balance set to native, iso set to 400 and shutter at auto. if you have nd filters you can set the shutter which is much nicer, but I don't use those. Oh and I use superwide 4k so I can do some stabilization in post. I hope that helps!

@@erikandko Great Trip. Everything I thought it would be. I did it labour day long weekend I met 1 person at Retta Rd where it goes onto the BC Hydro power lines. Filming went really well except I had it on 60 FPM so it is really fast and ther was no sound can't figure that one out. Still learning
