BLUELOCK is a survival genre anime with a sports theme. It's completely different from Haikyu, which emphasizes friendship and unity. But both stories were very well done in their way. I love both of them very much.

The depictions of death and murder are just metaphors in the show. Basically it's a massive facility that will start with 300 boys from around Japan, all of them strikers from their individual teams. As opposed to most sports anime where the focus is team based, this one highlights the individual, with a massive focus on the word "ego". There still is team aspects though, not completely solo. The reason for the death metaphors in the op and trailer is that only 1 of those 300 will come out on top and be able to play for the U-20 Japan team. The rest are forever barred from playing for any Japan national team. Hence the survivor-type player with the blank features. This anime is a battle royale.

Imo blue lock ain't the best sport anime for your first one cause it goes with completelly different concept than basically all the others sports anime, it doesn't necessarily give up on teamwork but rather follows it in another way. Haikyuu or diamond no ace or kuroko no basket which are probably most popular ones emphasize on teamwork and sacrifce while blue lock spits on that shit (fr) and says to play your best, be the star, and use teamwork through complementing each other at your best in a competetive way i'd say.

@@ryanpalyo8181 Because, the industry doesn't try anymore. These garbage reaction channels that hype up anything and act like little kids with their mouths wide open in the thumbnail. It let's the industry know that they don't have to try anymore. This is why anime ogs don't watch anime anymore.

i get you. but no need to generalize everyone. what matters is he's gonna give this a shot. on the agreeing side, i'm frustrated when i was asked what's my favorite anime and i said diamond no ace, haikyuu, and they'd give me a disappointed gaze like, 'what? a sports anime? not demon slayer or something' and be just yeah sure. it feels i always need to conform. sucks.
