Just a question though ~ i am opting for the stainless steel just for the scratch resistance with the sapphire but i am a workout freak and worried about the weight difference when compared with the s9 aluminium with nike band .. what do you think ? I do not have access to the stainless steel in the shops near me to see the bulkiness myself ..

The stainless steel 45mm series 8 is the same price as the ultra. Ultra is too bulky and not for 99% of people. The aluminum 45mm is best bang for buck imo.

Yes, I agree. I did realize after weighing the options that the 45mm SS series 8 was same price as Ultra, but as you stated, felt the Ultra was too bulky. I'm not an extreme athlete so I don't need features designed for that. But I have to admit the large screen size and battery life was compelling. But it was too bulky and blocky. Seemed like I had a piece of machinery or a brick strapped to my wrist. It looked awkward.

Had the ultra and sent it back as it kept pulling on my shirts the stainless steel s8 is so much better and paired perfectly with my iPhone 14 plus

The series 8 didn't really do it for me this year when it came to features. And honestly, I really thought that the series 8 was going to get the redesign instead of the Ultra, which was why I had held off on the series 7 originally for over a year. So instead of shelling out for a series 8, I got a sweet deal on a refurbished series 7 45mm Apple Watch in graphite, and I love it. It's my third stainless steel Apple Watch I've owned, with the previous two being a silver stainless steel series 3 and a space black stainless steel series 5. I can't ever go back to an aluminum Apple Watch anymore because I love the weight of the stainless steel models, and how they feel more like a watch on my wrist instead of just a toy like the two aluminum models I used to own. (The two being a gold series 0, and a space black series 2 Nike edition). Also...Graphite! Best color ever, imo. :)

@@JonImperial I recon the fit is just right. But it seems like it only connect thru its magnets and de little clasp doesn’t grip anymore. Those things I used to need to squeeze, but now I can open the band without needing to squeeze the side buttons.

How is the graphite with scratches? I want to get the SS graphite but I’ve read the silver is better as you can polish it. I’m coming from a s3 aluminum and getting the SS cause of the glass cause I don’t want to damage the screen.

I've had a Series 5 since that came out, but decided it was time for an upgrade - I don't really need one, but... Going for the Midnight aluminium one. Been considering Nomad's titanium band as well, should I suddenly find myself with 250 bucks I don't know what to do with. (Hasn't happened so far.)

I just got the same finish and color combo, except I got the 45mm model: Series 8 SS 45mm in Graphite with the Graphite Milanese Loop. It looks great! A friend is going to get the same watch and band combination except in gold. I saw an image of that combination and although not something I would get for myself, I thought it looked really good!

@@JonImperial I'm sure eventually you will come to a decision. :-) Hey, a little bit off subject but sort of related....it has to do with the stainless steel model and how Apple bundles it. I find it strange that for the stainless steel case choice, cellular is part of the choice. You don't get to choose between GPS OR GPS + Cellular. It's strange because there is nothing about case finish that dictates connectivity; it's unrelated. If of course further drives the price of the stainless steel choice. It appears that $100 of that differential between aluminum and stainless models is due to the extra cost for cellular. And of course the rest is due to the actual case material cost and the higher quality screen. And btw, as you would expect, when Titanium was offered as a case type for the 7, it also came with GPS + Cellular only. What's your opinion of the way Apple handles this?

@@jonRboy ​ @jonRboy I've actually thought about this. I think it's simply because Apple wants to limit the option. I think SE/S8 owners would want the option to have cellular or not. I think they know the pool of people getting the SS is lower therefore it would affect them inventory wise if they offered 2. They’ll have a surplus of SS cellular and non-cellular. By having just one option, it makes it easier for them. Just my 2 cents. Hope it makes sense.
