It's time to turn the garage into a functioning studio! I make my first attempt at drywall and start closing in the walls of Studio A.

Looks pretty good so far. I always did the 1st pass with a 4" knife, 2nd with a 6". If you have a 10" it's good for the final pass after a little scraping to knock down any ridges or chunks. For corners, use the 4" on one side and let it dry before doing the other side. If you try to do both at the same time you'll go insane! Sometimes I apply both sides(1st coat) and smooth with an inside corner knife. Then after it dries knock down the ridges and 2nd coat 1 side at a time. I also put high outlets and switches at 4'1/2"(bottom of the box) so it's a bit easier to cut out and finish around. For the ceiling you should try to get a helper and make a "dead man" ( a 2X4 with a triangle support top and bottom). As y'all get the sheet in place wedge the dead man in about 2' from one end while your friend holds the other end and your hands are free to get the screws in. I would put a couple near the dead man the get some where your friend is to relieve him. I hope this helps!😎🍻

When I did my basement I bought a special screw bit that made it real easy to set the screw properly. Looking good.

I started with the crap bits I had laying around and quickly went and bought a good set. Made a huge difference.

If you can rent a drywall lift. If not make one with a 2x4 that has a 3 - 4 foot piece perpendicular to the end. The long piece should be a bit taller than the ceiling. This can be wedged on one end while you screw the other.

I was looking at buying a lift, can get a cheap one for a few hundred dollars on Amazon. A deadman may work also.

I’m not an expert, but couldn’t you have eliminated having that huge horizontal seem by installing the drywall vertically instead of horizontally? Looks pretty good anyways! 👍🍻👊👌

My understanding is horizontal makes for a stronger wall. I think the best way to have eliminated the gap would have been to hire someone who knew what they were doing. lol

Stagger all joints to minimize cracking.use the least amount of mud you can it will dry quicker and reduce sanding better to put extra coat on in minutes than spend hours sanding and cleaning.that dust gets everywhere.Im a painter so wall prep is important paint can only hide so much as I'm sure you know
