MY FIRST time COOKING BRAZILIAN food

For those of you who are new to the channel, my name is Lana Tiare I am from New Zealand, and I’ve been travelling the world for two years now with my partner Carlos who is Brazilian. We’re both feeling a bit homesick right now since the whole world is under quarantine, and we are stranded in Turkey, I decided it would be a great time to attempt to cook Brazilian food for the first time ever.
In this video, I try to make Brigadeiros and chicken pastel. Brigadeiros are a dessert, similar to truffles and pastel are fried dough which can have many different types of fillings. These are both very popular dishes in Brazil, although Brigadeiros was easy to make, I did struggle a bit with the pastel as you will see in this video :D

I've made Khao Soi like I had in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Korean bibimbap. They both turned out great! I like the look of what you made; it's funny how long it takes the first time we make a dish, isn't it? It's so funny that you called Carlos' mom on the other side of the world to ask for cooking advice! LOL

Espectacular!!!!!! Pastel is like Empanadas!!!!!! Popular all over Latin American Lana. Fillings and dough change according to what is available in the region; wheat flour, corn meal, mandioca, plantain... anything. Carlos great job. Lana, Welcome to Latin American cuisine!!

GREAT! As a Brazilian, I can say to you: Try eat brigadeiro withou rolling it. Try it on the spoon, we call "Brigadeiro de colher", Carlos may can know how to do it. Other recipe you can try is "Corn Porridge" ("Mingau de Milho"), Bean Soup ("Caldo de Feijão") or Cassava Soup ("Caldo de Mandioca"), ", I believe it can be easy to find the ingredients on your country. Great options for cold days. If you want, I can tell you the recipe hahaha

@@LanaTiare I was gutted when it closed down 😅 don't think there's many Brazilian food places here in Auckland unfortunately. Oh lockdown too.. hope you guys have all the things you need and can get groceries all good! NZ has just passed the halfway mark for lockdown.. they'll assess whether we need to extend it 2 days before the end. We're doing all good though! Staying back with my parents and mum has been trying to stuff us with food 😅😅
