1:40 I have never heard of the Pioneers and the honeymoon Trail. Thanks Matt for the explanation. My dad used to tell me a story that back in the 1930s there was no direct route between Hurricane and St George. But for a few weeks the men in Hurricane went out with their shovels and their files to sharpen them with and started to build a new Road to St. Geo. And that time they got all the road bed mase except they still needed a bridge. But It was all about helping to the community in those days. My dad used to go hunting on the Pine Valley Mountain. He also told me about the CCC. The Civilian Conservation Corps that put new trails and Roads and terracing all over the United States. They were creating jobs during the Great Depression. I miss having a hamburger with my dad in the Old Veyo Cafe, the one that had wallpaper of cowboy boots. But now you can get pies at a place across the street.

The CCC Matt mentioned was the Civilian Conservation Corps. Executive order by then President Franklin D Roosevelt. It happened April of 1933. People, thousands of them worked all over this country. Mostly quite a ways from their homes. They were a sudo military group. Meaning they lived in barracks and worked like a military in unison. They probably built that trail by hand. Not much heavy equipment then. There are still several old CCC camps here in Pa.

Hollie, Matt and Lizzie, President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the Civilian Conservation Corps, or CCC, with an executive order on April 5, 1933. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a work relief program that gave millions of young men employment on environmental projects during the Great Depression. Considered by many to be one of the most successful of Roosevelt’s New Deal programs, the CCC planted more than three billion trees and constructed trails and shelters in more than 800 parks nationwide during its nine years of existence. The CCC helped to shape the modern national and state park systems we enjoy today 🇺🇸. Thought you’d want to know 🧐 Great video and that Lizzie/Hollie recovery at the end 👍

In High Rock Canyon, Nevada, one can see places where ropes cut into the rocks. There are other places in the Sierra’s as well. No winches but block and tackle. The first road construction project to make extensive use of powered earth moving equipment was by R G LeTourneau on Crow Canyon Road. Between Hayward and San Ramon.

@MischiefMakerTV2 жыл бұрын
I’m sure that will come this Summer. Of all the things I’m concerned about testing the Warn winch and the HEPTA Mfg. front bumper it’s mounted to (same as the one on MM) are the least of my worries, but those tests will certainly come.
