I wanted to give you a piece of advice going into Judgment Jade. Without going into spoliers, Judgment is slightly different to the other games in the series, in that there are many times throughout the game where it asks if you want to accept a challenge or not, these challenges may involve only having access to certain weapons or time limits, or certain weather conditions, stuff like that. You have the choice to accept or decline these challenges as you find them, but this is my advice.. All these challenges do, is allow you to score more points, it does not effect the events or outcome of the story, so don't feel compelled or forced to accept these challenges, in fact i turned a lot of them down and felt i had a more enjoyable experience for it, but if particular ones sound fun, then go for it, but don't feel you have to do them all, only the ones that sound like they might be fun to you x

This DLC is one of my favorite campaigns in the saga, playing as Raam is beautiful although you kill humans ... the characters are between old familiar faces and new ones for the saga in games, in 2011 this was a bomb haha. (Warning: A LOT OF INFORMATION). 1.- This DLC takes place in Ilima city, 9 years after E-Day, so yes, this DLC happens 1 year before Marcus went to prison and 5 years before the first game. 2.- Ilima was one of the most important cities of the COG in Sera, if you remember it a little, this is the city that would eventually fall (literally) by the Riftworm controlled by Ketor Skorge during GOW 2. 3.- In this DLC we can play as the ZETA-6 squad which is conformed by Alicia Valera, Tai Kaliso, Lieutenant Minh Young Kim, J.A.C.K and our protagonist "Michael Barrick". 4.- Do you remember the Onyx Guards? Those black soldiers in GOW 3 ?, they were the maximum elite within the COG, nightmare of the UIR but for the Locust, they were simple humans, they were deployed in 5 important points during the first years of the war, being Halvo Bay, Ilima, Tyro (Ephyra and Jacinto) and Azura, but, because they were used too much, they were almost exterminated by the locust without problems like Raam in this DLC, the survivors took refuge in Azura where they would protect the scientists and many ended up with a great post-traumatic stress, they went from being the proudest soldiers in the COG to being the most useless ... 5.- In this DLC we can see how Myrrah has a unique power, since she can communicate with the locust by telepathy, managing to coordinate her armies with her generals, and speaking of these, Raam is the only known locust capable of fully tame the plague of Sera, the Kryll without problem. 6.- With this DLC we can see more in depth the rivalry that Minh and Raam would create, giving more weight to their death during the events of GOW 1. Characters: 1.- Alicia Valera: Little is known about her beyond what the game presents to you, being she a citizen of Ilima along with her parents and younger brother who would also enlist in the COG, She has scars on her left eye from an accident in her teens and was listed on the cog in the early years of the Locust war. she was a soldier who put the safety of others before her, being someone with a good heart although that would be what would cost her life in the end at the hands of Raam although her death was not in vain. 2.- Michael Barrick: Like many, Barrick was one more survivor but, due to the operation "Lifeguard" (process by which the COG forcibly recruits survivors like Dizzy or Barrick in exchange for food, water and a place to sleep).he was recruited into the COG to fight on the front lines (his home would be destroyed by the hammer attacks), he would be assigned to the Zeta-6 squad. to later participate in the events in Ilima during this DLC 9 years after E-Day, after the death of Valera, the rescue of Jace and many survivors, the squad would disintegrate, and Minh would obtained the Delta squad with Anthony Carmine, Tai of the same form would be in another squad, Barrick and Jace would join the Eco-9 squad with Jonathan Harper until the day of his death, after this he would join with Jace to the delta-1 squad after GOW 1, then he would be diagnosed with rustlung but he would not give importance to it although it would weaken him little by little, 15 years after E-Day, a couple of months before GOW 2, he would be assigned with Delta-1 commanded by Marcus Fenix, Dom, Baird and Cole with Jace, they would be sent on a recognition and protection mission in Montevado, where he would be killed by the Locust (beast riders woul shot his back) although sacrificing himself to save his friends, taking with him 2 Beast Riders and 2 Bloodmounts that he would kill using only his damn hands. 3.- JACK: These robots are units of artificial intelligence for military assistance such as engineering, basic defense of electroshocks, camouflage (espionage) and medicine, this series being created since the end of the pendulum wars by Professor Kurt Elliott at the Onyx Guards academy in Halvo Bay, perfecting its design and operation little little by little until Baird would design the Jack that we know and love so much. 4.- Wilsen: Doctor, Psychologist, School Director and owner of the orphanage in Ilima, he was a valued member of the COG and was in a way a father figure to Jace after being taken to his orphanage after the first months of the war (Jace would observe how his parents would be massacred by a Berserker, the first spotted by the COG), after his rescue, he would be established in Jacinto although his whereabouts are not known, it is believed that he would survive until GOW 3 where he would perish because of his age. Enemies: 22:28 1.- Boomer Tremor: this kind of boomer were in charge of placing gigantic nails to be hit with their masses and thus creating waves to guide the seeders to the surface and expel nemacyst, this range of Boomer were only for support, not combat, Equipped only with his hammer and a protective helmet alongside his conventional boomer armor, these were first seen in Ilima, 9 year after E-Day. 2.-Elite Mauler: maximum rank of the Boomer species, these are better equipped maulers, They are in charge of escorting and protect other locust, in this case, General Raam and the tremor in Ilima to fill the sky with ink, these have a better helmet Armored and larger, more armored and striking armor along with a shield that they know how to use more efficiently with their explosive flail, these were first seen in Halvo Bay, 1 year after E-Day. 3.-1:52:18 Elite Theron Guard: Equivalent to onyx Guards, theron guards are the ghosts in the locust army, since they are very rare, with very minimal numbers in the horde, this enemy normally does not leave any survivors in the fighting fields, so their records They are vague, the only record the COG have of them is during the Zeta-6 mission that they managed to survive their encounter, they wear black theron armor with a helmet better equipped for vision, they use a sawed-off shotgun with a double bayonet capable of penetrating as paper to his enemies, a torque bow and it is able to use ink grenades and have a low control of the kryll as shields and prevent them from killing the theron, these were a secret line of bodyguards and disciples of former general Uzil Raam, trained by him, by so once Raam died, this secret service, the highest rank of a normal theron, would cease to exist. 4.-1:49:59 Ink Reaver: Raam's personal beast with the Kryll, this reaver is just like any other, only it is able to camouflage itself with Raam among the Kryll and use them as a shield, capable of launching an ink grenade launcher for them and poisoning their enemies , was modified by the royal scientist of the horde at the beginning of the locust war and seen only by Zeta-6 in Ilima. And that would be all, I know, a lot of information, thank you for your time and attention for those who read this.

Playing as RAAM was the highlight and I like how it sets up Mihn's death in Gears 1. Also, how it's counting down to the kryll storm as the story progresses. I honestly wish there is more story dlc for Gears of War, since the world is rich with story opportunities. Excellent playthrough.

So the ultimate fate of Zeta squad is obviously pretty sad. Valera and later Kim are both killed by Raam. Tai commits suicide after being tortured after his battle with Skorge and if you would like to see the fate of Michael Barrick, I recommend reading the Gears of War: Hollow comic. In Gears 4 there is an easter egg/collectable for Barrick you can find when you're in the level that has you go through a Play theatre (I think it's during the 3rd mission), it's in the makeup/dressing room I believe, try and watch for it. Also, just a cool note, Michael Barrick and Alecia Valera will be coming to Gears 5 as multiplayer characters in just a few days

The sawed-off shotgun is an obscenely powerful gun that can basically turn another living creature into salsa... but it has a maximum effective range of "colonoscopy", as in, you basically need to put it inside someone to hit them with it.

Here's a little tidbit of lore that the games never really explained. At 52:57, Barrick mentions 'Operation Lifeboat'. As for what it is? The Coalition of Ordered Governments used this so called 'lifeboat' as propaganda targeted towards the stranded prior to storming the hollow. The deal was that in exchange for safety and supplies, stranded who were eligible to fight would be conscripted into the COG military. This was done to create a sizable offence for Operation: Hollow Storm while giving the COG enough flexibility to defend existing cities from Locust attack. However, this also led to a TON of animosity between the conscripted stranded and COG forces. The hammer of dawn strikes, forced conscription, the 'breeding camps', being unable to see their families... there was wayyyy too much tension between the two factions and for good reason. One example of a conscript is Dizzy Wallin, who survived the hammer strikes and applied for Lifeboat assistance, dragging him from his family but keeping them fed. As he puts it, "Family got the groceries, but Daddy got conscripted. Life's a b**** like that." Loving the content Jade!

the effectiveness of the sawn off shotgun varies on which GOW your playing; in 3 it isn't very good because you have to be REAL close to deal damage (even though the damage dealt is higher than the gnasher) in Judgment you get more ammo on the sawn off i think and the range is slightly better. RAAM says "Vengeance" because Karn and Ukkon his fellow Generals are dead...

i should clarify RAAM's Shadow is set around 10 years after E-Day which is a very specific point in time...it was around the time Marcus went to prison (although we don't see that here). But it does explain why we play as other Gears and get to enjoy other perspectives. Ilima City was one of the biggest cities to fall and that was one of the true tragedies...it was the city that later sunk into that hole above Marcus and his team in Gears 2. oh yeah and i guess i should mention the new characters; so you play as Michael Barrick...who until RAAM's Shadow was only in the books and comics: Barrick is a former stranded like Dizzy and doesn't overly like the COG...but he likes killing Locust. Alicia Valera: Valera was new to this campaign as far as i know, she is close with Kim and a good soldier...but also quite optimistic and caring. Tai Kaliso: we already know Tai...badass...never backs down from a fight. Minh Young Kim: you may remember him from Gears 1...he got gutted by RAAM...might want to remember that when this campaign ends...there is a reason why.

Man, I love so much about this DLC. One of my favorite pieces of Gears media, tbh. They introduced a brand new character, a badass from the comics (Barrick) & brought back two favorites that never really got a real chance to shine. They even provided a backstory as to why RAAM randomly comes in and kicks Minh's ass lol. I always thought that was a neat touch. Speaking of RAAM... getting to play as him??? That was one of the sickest things ever for me as a teen. Honestly, even *now* it's one of the sickest things ever lmao. I do hope they do more stuff like this, eventually. There's just so much to explore in the Gears universe, in terms of story. Also, just a heads up on Gears Judgement (like a few tidbits and whatnot): So, that game wasn't super well-received by the Gears community. There's some major changes to the controls/gameplay, as well as a ton of lore inconsistencies lol. On the bright side, though... much like this DLC, we get to learn a little more about two Gears favorites that we all know and love, who I'm sure you'll enjoy. There's also a new character who plays a part in a later game, which I won't give away too much about. But yeah, it's honestly not that bad of a game. I mean, once you remove all the canonical errors & try to forget the previous games' controls/gameplay lmao. Like, the plot itself is solid, the characters are cool & the soundtrack is pretty great as well. Overall, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Raam is the High General of the Locust army after his death Skorge became the High General and also High Kantuz priest as well The Original High General was a Locust named Sraak he was even bigger than Raam, Raam is 10 feet in height but Sraak towered over Raam at 12 feet You should read the Rise of Raam comic it shows him fighting the Lambent then how he became the High General and Skorge is in it too and he was actually good friends with Raam

Love this franchise. But before doing GOW 4, do GOW Judgment. Yeyeh, not the moost well recieved with some new mechanics etc. BUT you get to play with younger Baird, Cole and two new characters. In court, retelling their perspectives from a mission to bring down a big shot locust leader. Just from the Gow Judgement story arch alone. Its WORTH playing through, also its not the longest campaign so no worries to jump into gow 4 sometime soon after😆

So I saw you struggle a lot with the sawed off shotgun against those wretches, so it's a VERY powerful weapon, but you gotta be VERY close to your target, in their face, I believe it can kill a boomer in 1 or 2 shots, you WERE using it correctly, just on enemies that your revolver could 1 shot xD And the shield! Because I know this will be useful for judgement, it's an excellent source of cover, while aiming and you press A, you'll plant the shield in the ground and it'll become cover, judgement is kinda the only game where you could use a lancer with it too, at a bit of a recoil penalty

Don't know if anyone told you for either Gears of War 2 or 3, but for the tickers, you can kick the ones with bombs on them into enemies and then shoot it to do some good damage to enemies, especially scorcher users, since you know, they have a tank on their back that blows up.

Also, just a heads up, Gears Of War 4 is a bit different, cause at times, you'll go from a squad of 4 to a trio at certain times. Thought Jade would be given a heads up about that in case she wonders why only three like the original games and not 4.
