Having seen that performance, you won't be surprised by this: Bruce Springsteen is generally considered the greatest live performer in the history of rock and roll. It's not just that show. It's like every show he does.

Back in June 1985, my Best Friend and His Wife took me To See 'The Boss" Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in Frankfurt, Germany for my birthday. With no opening band, they played for two hours, took a 20 minute break, then came out and played for another two hours ... WHAT A NIGHT! BTW: Since it was their 'Born In The USA' tour, on the way to Frankfurt there were cars galore on Autobahn 3 with American and German Flags sewn together, bumper stickers, and banners everywhere. It was the same at the stadium during the concert as well ... ¡MAGNIFICO!

I saw Boss for the first time in 1978, when I was 17. I didn’t know his music and just went to have something to do. I Remember., He came out on stage at exactly 8 o’clock which is something that never used to happen in the 1970s. Concerts always started late … not this one. Next time I looked at my watch as we were walking out of the arena, it was midnight. He Played four hours and simply blew the roof off the joint. Changed my life. I had never before seen a man who enjoyed his work. What a lesson he taught me that night.

Known as the Boss, Bruce Springsteen is one of the greatest American rockers. He was all energy and blue collar grit. I saw him at Exhibiton Stadium in Toronto in '85 on his Born to Run tour. We all stood on our metal chairs for the entire three hour, 45 minute concert during which he came out for five encores. I went home and told my wife: "I'm in love with a man! I'm in love with a man!"

The level of genius it takes to put THIS song over the La Bamba beat with THESE musicians… 🤌 The E Street Band is not to be trifled with. Also, in conclusion, Conan O’Brien got so much great comedy out of this incredible drummer. Max Weinberg is incredibly underrated.

Can I recommend an early version (circa 1975) of Rosalita (Come Out Tonight) - a great band at the peak of their power. This song has a fun twist as it’s a cover of a Beatles hit, and many years later Paul McCartney joined Bruce on-stage in Hyde Park, London in what turned into an amazing jam session, that went beyond the licence cut off time of 10pm. Bruce and Paul are in no mood to stop so some daft park official switches the power off thinking that’ll get them off stage, instead they carried on for a further 15-20 minutes acoustically, and not a person left.

I used to love him like a lot. Then he became a political activist. Like a lot of them unfortunately.
@ythomitnellum9 ай бұрын
Oh please, he’s always been political - the whole The River album is a repudiation of Reaganomics, Born In The USA is an anti war anthem, his early monologues between songs are political - “Blind faith in your leaders will get you killed”, his father’s relief when he failed his conscription medical. Not even mentioning his cover of Edwin Starr’s War (“what is it good for? Nothing”, his involvement with Stevie in the Artists Against Apartheid movement, and his vocals on USA For Africa’s We Are The World.

For nearly 45 years, Bruce Springsteen has been raising money for non-denominational and non-political food banks in each and every city in which he performs. He seeks out local charities and local organizations and has contributed millions of dollars to these and other similar charities. He has donated his time and his energy and his money, oftentimes behind the scenes.
