I linked you an article where he talks about using his 1961 Stratocaster on this song, and how it changed the song. I'm not trashing Schecter...I would LOVE to own a Schecter myself. But facts are facts and the facts indicate you are wrong, amigo. Look at the pickups. Look at the unroasted maple neck and head stock. It's not a Schecter. It just isn't.

Back in the day I didn't pay much attention to the extent of Mark's ability to, if only for brief durations, simultaneously sing and play independent melody lines - it's stating the obvious to say that not many people can do that! Even setting that aside, you can probably figure out why this song - and I'm thinking of the "studio versions" of which there are at least three - almost instantly became legendary/sacred amongst guitar players.

Boy does this song take me back to my teen years, in my bedroom lights off and radio up. So much good music came from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Good music is good music and just transcends generations and time So many of the groups at this time were better live and in person than the studio versions.

Mark Knopler is one of the greatest guitarist That's ever been . I remember when this song dropped I was very young and I knew then that these guys were here to stay . And he had one of the best drummers I've ever seen .

An underrated song from Dire Straits that I also really love is Skateaway - there's just something about it. Kind of captures what it feels like to be young on a summer night, skating through the streets - it's a vibe. And I also like the lyrics. If you watch it - the video is cute, and play it with captions so you can understand the beautiful lyrics. Great reaction again! Congrats on your 10K!!!!!

At the risk of repeating myself. There is no "Greatest" because there is no way of measuring it. There are just a lot of really great guitarists out there and some we like more than others.
