I had a picturesque view of Mt. Rainier out my barracks window when I was stationed at Ft. Lewis. Washington really is beautiful during the two months of summer when it actually stops raining.

the first time i visited mt rainier, it was foggy and cloudy the first few days so the mountain was not visible at all. then while we were in the visitor center, the clouds parted just enough for the mountain to be visible, and everyone in the visitor center was audibly in awe of it. it was fantastic. i hope you had a great experience there!

Welcome to WA bear smear. We only have black bears here. No fear there. Sorry you missed “the mountain” as we call it. Come back in the summer and let’s climb it. You are fit enough now. Just need a little rope and self arrest training. Come back and really see the Cascades.

I'll be back eventually! I was a pretty avid ice climber for years up until a couple of years ago so I've got the gear, and the training ( though somewhat rusty these days). Just need to find the time! Thanks for watching!
