Teena was ridiculously popular and beloved in the Black community as a solo R&B singer! I was in sixth grade when this song came out in 1981 and it was played at damn near every party and lipsynced by every teenie bopper that was in love ☺ 🥰! I saw Rick James in concert around 1977. He ask somebody in the audience for a joint. Somebody passed him a baggy full of joints, He took one joint and passed it back. Then he asked for a light. Yes, they hooked up for a minute but Teena smartened up and left that alone lol. Rick was genius musically - but as a Man to hook up with - uh, uh. I am so glad you did this reaction! I went to this concert and it was FIRE! I have seen Rick James in concert like 6 times but not one compared to their Fire & Desire tour.
