It gets even worse when you realise on NG+, the ONLY way to heal is by saving your game. In case you were wondering, yes, you can get to All Hallows in NG+, but I wouldn't recommend it. The level starts with all your ammo and weapons, but no medipacks. You can save repeatedly, though, but finishing the level on NG+ is not required if you have the initial trophy for finishing All Hallows already. Also on NG+, all 'friendlies' except the Damned in Lud's Gate are either hostile from the start or become hostile at a certain point, so those friendly monkeys in Jungle, now the enemy. The prisoners in High Security Compound turn on you after a certain point. The soldiers in Crash Site would rather shoot YOU than the dinosaurs trying to eat them, and the flamethrowers in RX-Tech Mines would rather set YOU on fire than the mutants. Since you're going for all trophies, let me, as someone who's done it twice, tell you a few things. 'Aichmophobia' will probably send you on a killing spree. 'Crushin' Krishna' barely seems worth a Silver. 'Resourceful Attorney' is easier than it looks, 'but Limbo Master' is not, as it counts across High Security Compound and Area 51. You can still get 'Lost Souls be Damned' if you run over the bikers via quad bike, for some reason. You can also use the UPV harpoons and still qualify for the 'Incredibly Hard Boiled' trophy, so no more repeats of the bullshittery in TR2. Since you are afraid of snakes, it probably won't put your mind at ease to know that you not only have to avoid getting bitten by them across the India and Nevada chapters for the 'Rikki-Tikki-Tavi' trophy, but you also need to kill EVERY SINGLE ONE in the Caves of Kaliya level for the 'Snake Charming' trophy. Yes, even the ones in the maze. You also need to kill every single mutant in RX-Tech mines for the 'Pest Control' trophy, but any killed by the flamethrowers still count. In fact, combine this with the 'Who Goes There' trophy and make the flamethrowers kill seven of them. But perhaps the biggest challenge of all comes in the Meteorite Cavern trophy, which tasks you with getting out of the crater and making it to the compound with the last of Willard's men WITHOUT the artifacts. This was brutal, both times I did this. 'Wilderness Survivor' comes close, which tasks you with making sure EVERY soldier survives at the end of Crash Site, but even that was easy when I just blew open the wall and made a beeline to the exit and hoping for the best. There are a few handy shortcuts in Jungle and Thames Wharf that you should get familiar with for the speedrun trophy, and also for the 'I'm Just a Local' trophy, which tasks you with finishing Thames Wharf in a minute or less. Yes, that is possible. On the bright side, not every trophy is doom and gloom. There is one for swimming with the orcas in Area 51. However, there is the 'Like a Naive Child' trophy where you have to die to the fake large medipack quicksand trap and the button to start fire traps in Coastal Village, as well as the large medipack/rolling spike cylinder trap part way through the fire trial in Lost City of Tinnos. Yeah, this platinum will likely send you to therapy.

im currently doing a NG+ run with pistols only. its going well enough, india, nevada and south pacific are done and im in london now with around 10 crystals. just london and antarctica to go. i found the meteorite cavern trophy pretty easy honestly, wilderness survivor however i absolutely agree with you on. its absolutely brutal keeping all of those men alive (also i left that one on my NG+ pistols only run..... yeah that was..................not fun at all). havent done speedrun yet, saving that for last as i absolutely hate speedruns. only have TR3 mop up trophies and the expansion to go.

@Albertson235 ай бұрын
@@AxMania Awwwww, thanks Ax. I'm sure you do. You may be wondering how I was able to get the Tomb Raider trophies twice. I found out, purely by accident, that, if you got the digital version of the game, you can swap between PS4 and PS5 versions. They have separate trophy lists, and earning PS4 trophies does not net you the PS5 version of said trophy. I 100% completed the PS5 trophy list DESPITE the fact there are no platinums. I did it for the same reason mountaineers climb mountains; for the challenge. This is also how I was able to platinum LAD Gaiden and SW Battlefront twice. I did forget to mention a few trophies, but your upcoming video should fill in any gaps. Looking forward to it. Edit: One thing EVERYONE should consider when doing NG+, and I would like this mentioned in the video, is that, unlike the base game, where you get all your gear back in HSC, in NG+, it's gone forever. Kaput. Vanished into the aether. Because of this, doing Nevada first in NG+ is MANDATORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I commend ANYONE who even considers doing Nevada last on NG+. I have no doubt badassgamez of all people would attempt such a stunt, but not me.

Well the gift included the whole strategy guide book, but trying everything for myself was much more rewarding. It took ages but I finished it with some help sometimes. I was just as tight with medipacks - just in case. Finished with about 30 of each medipack and enough ammo to do all the original tomb raiders! I played TR3 on Playstation as well, many years after my first playthrough on PC. I did because I wanted to have that challenge, too :D The thing that I must say is better in some levels, compared to PC, is the lighting, particularly in levels like High Security Compound. It gives the levels so much more atmosphere to have it dark in places, where it should be dark. Thames Wharf is another example. I played it on a HD-TV, so the brightness settings were fundamentally good enough so that I never was in a situation, where I couldn't see anything. Good video and congrats on beating the game on this platform :) Bonus fun fact: the T-Rex has a unique mechanic. If Lara ignites a flare and throws it away in the area, where the T-Rex runs around, when it still burns, the T-Rex will walk up to it and examine it and it will ignore Lara completely :D
@AxMania5 ай бұрын
Congratulations to you for conquering Tomb Raider III on PS1 as well! 😃 I agree. While I overall prefer the smooth textures on PC, thanks to bilinear filtering, there's a unique atmosphere to the PlayStation version, that's largely down to it's lighting effects. I agree with you about those levels, especially Thames Wharf. I was blown away by the area where you collect the Flue Room Key, which looked much better on PS1. I still need to test out that flare method against a T-Rex some day 😃 Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!

Both LOL and KUDOS for the tone of the video - but I think I can also relate to the pain you had to go through 🙂 I tried a few self-imposed restrictions on my gameplay as a way to challenge myself (*) - e.g. use pistols only, not use pistols (since L2 or L3) at all, not use health packs, etc.. - but probably the most difficult one was completing each Core Design era TR game without saving during a level. In the end I managed to succeed (except for TRLR, which I didn't try - yet, at least), but repeatedly - and much more often than I would have been OK with - the experience was really frustrating. Yeah, all those jumps that just did not happen though I could swear I pressed the jump key properly, all those unintentional falls from otherwise safe ledges, all those silly "I forgot there was a trap" moments made me bang my head against the table every now and then. Sweet memories anyway 🙂 (*) Credit where credit's due - at one point, I have noticed Matt from "BadAssGamez" (his discontinued YT channel) doing something similar in one of his videos (or livestreams?), so I took the inspiration and tried a few variations on that idea.

I only had TR3 on PlayStation as a kid. It took me years to complete it for the first time. The remaster was the first time I'd played the game with unlimited saves and it makes it a much more enjoyable experience and allowed me to actually learn the more difficult sections well. After learning the levels taking on NG+ was a very a difficult but rewarding challenge since it feels like a more extreme version of PS1 TR3 with limited saves AND no medipacks.

You are a master! I played this when first released and have no idea how I completed it. Playing it now I find the lack of crystals too difficult, often dying and having to go back another 20 or 30 minutes to play and then die again 😡. Absolutely no chance to explore the environment for fear of dying again! I chose Nevada as my first option. I'm two thirds through high security compound with no save crystals, so I decided to use the unlimited crystals/ weapons/health cheat codes. I'm not proud of that, I'm more angry at the game designers for making this feel more like a chore than a game. At least now I can explore again and actually get some enjoyment out of the game

Just ran into your channel. Never played the new TR games as I do not like their direction but have some traumatizing memory concerning TR3 and save crystals. Played this game at my friend's house, together with his father. We'd play one after another, passing the controller. Remember there was a level in which you had to climb on those horizontal bars under the ceiling (monkey bars?) while avoiding fire-spitting traps. You'd have to go over a body of water full of piranhas. Anyway, it took so long and so many deaths we were very apt at loading the game very fast (opening the inventory and choosing load before dying). My friend attempts to go over, gets on fire, jumps into the water and gets surrounded and munched on by piranhas. While being still alive with like 5% of health left, he decides to quickly load but instead he saves the game. We only used one slot. There was lots of anger...
@AxMania5 ай бұрын
Welcome! Oh no... 😩 We've all been there, I'm afraid. Tomb Raider III was the game that taught me to use more than one save slot, because I remember doing the exact same thing that your friend did, while falling to my death in Thames Wharf. Do you guys know about the Japanese version of TR3 (PS1)? Just discovered it. The JP release apparently has an easier version (alongside the original named the "international version" in a separate disc) with the Shotgun already given to you at the start, all guns doing double damage, different level layouts, modified traps, more pickups, more Save Crystals, etc. Some are even calling it the "definitive edition", lol. I'd love to see someone do an analysis video or the like on it.

My first experience with TR3 was on Playstation. I was 9. I don't know how I managed to get through some of the cryptic and challenging levels, but I made it to Lost City of Tinnos, and that's when I ran into a roadblock. I think it was the Earth trial, and I didn't know what to do after the floor disappeared, and assumed that the game was broken/impossible, so that is where I gave up. I eventually finished it completely 11 years later. Such a hard, but good game

The Nevada demo on the PS1 was my introduction to Tomb Raider. While it took me a whole summer to beat it, I gave me a great first impression and TR3 became one of my most coveted games. I got TR4 on the DC instead, which wasn't the same and lacked a Croft Manor but made me happy. And I _really_ struggled on TR4; thankfully, I could save as many times as I wanted. Not sure how little newb me could've tolerated the PS1 version in the '90s. I'd prolly get GameShark just to get infinite Save Crystals, lol.

I have never completed TR3 other way than on PS1. And maybe I'm just used to it but I didn't find it that hard. I mean it is hard but not unplayably hard. I've always finished the game with plenty of them as well as the medipacks. And for me that's one of the best and most creative mechanics in any game. Turning the savegames into collectibles is just pure genious! :D They completely change how the decisions are made during the game and I love it!
