The book is a book of ethics/morals, and other words a code. When Mingi was fighting the bully and shows in the book, he was basically saying that his moral code stronger than anything the bully has to offer. Edit: I had to throw in that first comment before I forgot. Lol So, so happy you got around to discovering Ateez! They are so talented when they perform, but they are also just a ton of fun when you get to know them. Smart, chaotic, sweet, funny… Never a dull moment! You can also tell they truly love each other, for better or worse, just like a family. 😉 I have to admit I do prefer their more high-energy songs to their more mellow ones. I suspect you may feel the same way. It’s not that they make any bad songs, just a personal preference. I would recommend Deja Vu, Fireworks, and Wonderland as their top 3 MV’s in addition to this one. All three are very cinematic, and full of different types of energy. As always, absolutely love your reaction to this!!! You actually made me laugh out loud when you pointed out the cute dog. I did exactly the same thing the first time I saw it! 😂😂😂

Before they debuted they were called KQ Fellaz. If you're interested in their dance styles, they did three videos under that name, and a solo one for member Yunho during that same period. They trained in LA to learn hip hop stylings, and they've done great work with the knowledge. Also, member Wooyoung was an Artist of the Month on Studio Choom if you want to see amazing, charismatic dance stylings. Cheers!

I was convinced you were fluent in Korean for a second! You picked up on SO many things that nonfans/first timers tend to miss. One thing that makes ATEEZ seem like a more seasoned group is how much personality and humor they have put into their work. They're professionals but you can tell they don't take themselves too seriously. Their KQ Fellaz (trainee group name) performance videos were their 1st public appearance and highlights this well. Their Cinematic Universe is pretty intricate and just so much fun to dive into. ATEEZ are chameleons and have a pretty wide range of song styles/genres but are known for amazing performances and hard hitting choreography. You can't go wrong with any song to get into next but the Treasure series (5 albums) tells a pretty linear storyline if you listen to them and watch the MVs in order so it's worth it if you're overly confused about what's going on. The Fever series (4 albums) is a prequel to the Treasure timeline. Hope you find some more of their stuff to love and thanks for the wonderfully in depth analysis!

This is one of their most hype songs and you got the basics of what they wanted to say with this! I recommend Turbulence MV as it was other tittle track of the same album as The Real (ATEEZ often has double tittle tracks) and it shows you a very different side of them and also more of their beautiful vocals! Deja Vu MV is also great pick, it highlights especially well their dance skills - Deja Vu was double tittle track with Eternal Sunshine which again is soooo different, their double tittles often balance each other very well showing different sides of them^^

Hi and thanks for reacting to Ateez :) There are 8 members in the group under the company KQ Entertainment. They debuted on October 24, 2018 with "Pirate King" and "Treasure" which I recommend you react to cause they were amazing from the very beginning. Their title tracks are all bangers and also their b-sides are amazing. I recommend "Wonderland", "Say my name" and "The black cat nero" Hallowen performance.

A little update for you if you need :3 At the start of verse 2, where the bully punch Mingi - the guy who got punch but didn't get hurt - and got bounced back, it was because the book that he had on his torso is the Moral book. In lots of Asian countries - Please forgive me if I didn't mention or count your country in cause I do not know closely how every educational systems in Asia works - we were taught this subject, like literally, there is a subject called Moral and we often study it till 5th or 6th grade. It will later turn into something more specific like Economics or General Laws, etc. in later years but for most, we study this subject in elementary. And with that reference, that scene means that no matter what you do, the morals that you have in our human life time will always fight against those that try to foul it and justice will eventually win in the end. Hopes that gives you some more information about the scene DG. Love your reaction as always (Sorry if my English sounds weird or if there is any grammar mistakes, English is not my first language).

I think if we talk about ateez what the most unique is their theory are still going. Their main concept was pirate kings (it'll hard to believe if you saw fever era bcz it's the prequel to treasure the era before it) i really recomend you not just to see the tittle track but the b side too, it's totally gonna blow your mind especially treasure era's. The esthetic they got is one of kind especially bcz their are perfomance group that not just performing dance but serving a stage presence and facial expressions (some says it's it's looks too extrime/ too much) but it was their best streght not just that the vocal and rap being included too. They event getting recognized by a lot of legend from kpop as psy, rain, kim jongkook etc. And not just that many idols are their fans such as dreamcatcher (can't said it all cuz just too much). Anyway i really recomend you go from treasure era that start with pirate kings and treasure mv. Have a nice day! Bye~

I'll pipe up and agree with others that this was probably a good intro, since it will absolutely hype you up about the group and make you want to see more of them. Since debut, they've varied their styles, their lyrics, their clothing, their presentation, from hard to soft and back again. While I'd love for you to follow their progress in order, if you do decide you want to just jump in wherever, Hala Hala is probably the next point. It's hardcore, the styling emphasizes the group as a unit rather than as individuals, and while the video is simply made, the dancing, camera angles and filming styles give lots of big punches. 'The Real' is such a good example, though, of their ability to combine a great, accessible message with a freaking banger of a song that absolutely makes you want to dance (and learn Korean to sing along), so I think it's as good a start as any. Deja Vu is also good, but you'd have a different impression of them if you'd started there. Worth watching, though! Glad to hear you enjoyed them and I hope you're able to dive more fully into their discography. They're all born performers, and get better every time. Good luck in your journey!

@aislin29892 жыл бұрын
lol not surprised you like this - Ateez has the same producers as Dreamcatcher! And you nailed the message behind the song. From what Hongjoong (the guy in the blue) said in the behinds is that there's a saying of the rice that bears the most has the lowest head, so basically meaning that the more mature you are you keep yourself more and more humble and kind. Also that line 'this is what you call style' is being said in different dialects (San and Seonghwa - the first and second ones are both from the southwest of the country, Yunho - the third one - is from the southeast of the country, and the final time it's said is by Jongho (and yes this child can break apples in half with his hands he's ridiculously strong) in the 'standard' Seoul speech) but the line 'our dance starts now' is also in dialect, kind of meaning that no matter where you're from, the real style remains the same. Deja Vu is one of their 'slower' title tracks, so idk if that would have been a good intro, but it's also really groovy if that makes sense. Harder title tracks: Say My Name/Hala Hala (they're connected), Thanxx (this one is delightfully sarcastic), and Wonderland (these are all part of the 'Halateez' world in their storyline - I'll explain that in a sec) Softer title tracks: Aurora, Answer (pretty much the fan fave), Inception, Turbulence, and Treasure Fun ass bops: Pirate King, Wave/Illusion (again, connected MVs), Eternal Sunshine, and The Real (which you just saw) Okay for the lore/storyline: Ateez has the concept of pirates - there's tons of lyrics and titles that have ocean/nautical references and their debut song was called Pirate King. The 'Halateez' I referenced earlier are usually signified by pearls, fedoras, and black clothes - it's the darker sides of Ateez themselves, and still kind of unclear if Halateez (you first really see them in Hala Hala, which is why fans call that Halateez) are in a parallel universe, or if it's metaphorical in the Ateez universe. Blue and red are also recurring themes. The Real was originally released as their Kingdom finale song, but that was kind of like a rough draft of this finished, polished version. But they brought their entire storyline to Kingdom as well, progressing their own story outside of their MVs. I believe they said that the Fever series is the prequel to the Treasure series (every MV before Inception) and iirc, that it's Halateez's origin storyline. Ateez is the only group to have a 'demon line' - so called for the way they seemingly get possessed while on stage. The MVs are awesome, but you have to see them on stage to get the full effect. They really shine when they're performing. Hala Hala is also the only song that I recommend seeing the live version of. There's just really no substitute for watching their eyes roll back into their heads, the manic grins, and the way they completely go off the rails on the last chorus and drag the entire audience along with them. The MV doesn't really do it enough justice, especially once they really started feeling themselves and getting more and more comfortable on stage. Once you've reacted to SMN/HH, you absolutely *have* to see them performing live. (I usually rec the more recent vids, but you can see some of what I'm talking about even in the promotional performances. It's just they really got way more comfortable and have a more acute sense of cameras and how to perform.) Hope this wasn't too overwhelming!

Just about to say that producers team behind Ateez is brilliant because some of them are main DreamCatcher producers :D Even tho not all Edenary team works on Dreamcatcher songs, I believe groups still have some sort of "special connection" as Dreamcatcher were promoting Ateez from debut.

It was great to see you enjoy the song and analyze the lyrics - thank you! Those guys pretty much practice what they preach, BTW - they're badass and charismatic but also incredibly kind, polite and do a lot of good things for others. They remind me of Monsta X in that regard (a 3rd gen group with the most powerful rap line in kpop - if you don't know them but want to check them out try a song Shoot Out). I think the line about the flames might also mean living their lives passionately, or fulfilling their passion/drive, because San's baseball bat, the one on fire, says "passion" and his name. That's also how the metaphor of flames is used in one of their most famous (and best) songs, Answer (there are some fantastic lyrics there), and in another awesome and powerful one, Bulnoriya/Fireworks (I'm the One). Also, since you like heavier stuff you might enjoy Wonderland, it's very anthemic and aggressive with explosive rap. Generally speaking, they do a huge variety of styles, so if one song is not your cup of tea just try another :)

Feel you on the dance comment 😅 I just do Yeosang’s (the one with the bread) arm move after he walks up at the end. Ateez’s music video production is very smart as a majority of their mv’s can have a ton of storyline elements in them, but they still work as individual mvs! Especially for me who’s mostly ✨shapes and colours 😍✨ when it comes to mvs haha. Saw a lot of people recommending Wonderland and Hala Hala, agree with both. Wonderland is their grand and epic, huge scale production mv, and the first one I saw! Was immediately drawn in. Hala Hala is much grittier looking, filmed in a warehouse, but also unlike any performance mv I’ve ever seen as they wear very similar clothing and masks and hats to ”hide” their faces. Really makes you focus on their dance and performance. Inception is one of their mvs that has storyline going on but works amazingly as a stand alone, the sound is dramatic but light? Soft? And very good. Wave and Eternal Sunshine are summer bops, not my personal favourite style but very fun! To bring it back to Yeosang and his bread for a moment, for the longest time Yeosang’s been trapped in a glass box and in a non music video related to Inception, he was shown in a classroom with a lot of birds with him. So the bread could symbolise that he was a trapped bird too, or just a fun thing for a fun video! The fans are sure however that the shot of Yeosang and the birds out in the open is confirmation that Yeosang is finally free! He also got saved from the glass box in the Answer stage for the show Kingdom they were on last year, so he’s double free now. Last thing (and the thing I was gonna comment on initially 😅) is that Ateez have a really interesting group dynamic because some of them knew each other way before. Yunho (the blond biker) and Mingi (the mullet guy at the start) are childhood friends, and Yeosang and Wooyoung first became friends 8 years ago when they trained at Big Hit. I believe it was Yeosang that first left Big Hit for KQ (Ateez’s company) and Wooyoung followed him as they had made a pact to debut together, no matter if the eventual group would end in success of failure. Luckily for them (and us) Ateez are doing very well! Wooyoung also found his platonic soulmate, San (with the bat) and are often referree to as ’woosan’. They even have matching tattoos! Ofc they’re all friends with each other and such, I just find it very sweet that they weren’t complete strangers until they started training together.
