Nice first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊This is a beautiful and stripped back version of what was already a beautiful song. If you are inclined to explore more BABYMETAL you will find they are unique, original and incredibly entertaining. They are like nothing else you will have seen or heard. They have about 60 songs now, each one different to the last. They started as a fusion of Metal with JPop aesthetics, but they have gone on to mix or blend so many different musical styles and genres with the metal - they never get boring. It looks like you already have some good suggestions for more songs to react to, I will just say that ideally you will watch live performances. Their official videos are all very good and worth seeing (the lyric video for 'Monochrome' would be interesting so you can hear what this song is like with the metal instrumentation), but they are a live performance act, that is where they are always at their very best (just avoid the Glastonbury videos - their performance was great but the BBC made a complete pig's ear of the audio).

I'm not usually a metal fan, and Babymetal is my absolute favorite band. The energy is immaculate, and they do a ton of fun, uplifting, empowering music while mixing about every genre you can think of with metal elements. A few of my favorites that are more upbeat and fun with less emphasis on the metal: Doki Doki Morning Gimme Chocolate Light and Darkness Pa Pa Ya (find the live version with F. Hero) Yava Hope you enjoy!

Nice reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL. Well, this is a little different from what they normally do since it's a stripped down piano version of "Monochrome" and does not show their usual features aside Su-metal's magnificent vocals. But don't worry, you will discover them pretty soon. 😁 This video features Suzuka Nakamoto (the lead singer) aka SU-METAL and Moa Kikuchi aka MOAMETAL. There is a former OG member, Yui Mizuno (YUIMETAL) who left the group in 2018 due to health issues after not performing since October 2017. So, at the moment they recorded this, they were officially a duo. On April 1st this year (and not a joke) Momoko Okazaki was announced as the new official member under the stage name MOMOMETAL. So they became a trio again. And this is what they actually do: "Headbanger" (Live at Legend 1997): kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3bWgJSDl7N5rdk Until next time!

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 Not actually the best exponent of 90% of their music but no doubt is a true exponent of what is they're capable of when delivering songs with so much emotions. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal". They are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 25. *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 23. *YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018. *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st recently. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said. All of us are captivated by SuMetal voice, she really pierce into our souls with this unique talent. She got a lot of songs to portray her abilities on the stage and not only in the studio recording. I highly suggest you to check it out songs like: - Ijime Dame Zettai live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 official when having only 16 and 14 yo in front of 60k metalheads. She also got solo songs and special versions similar to this Monochrome, one of them is called Akatsuki and Akatsuki Unfinished Version, another great song to check it out, you can find Akatsuki live at Budokan 2014 and the Unfinished Version is heavily blocked so take some precautions and go for a widescreen edit around to prevent this. This original song is more like hard rock and is one of the highlights when performing live like recently during all comcerts performed at Sabaton's Europe Tour and a couple of days ago in Jakarta, she made everyone raised their phones to illuminate this dark world. Hope to see you next time with more BM songs. 🦊🤘🌈

Thanks for checking out BABYMETAL and great first reaction, really enjoyed you discovering Su-metal and Moametal's vocal talents. The performances on the first take are on the softer side for them, but they have songs that span a wide range of genres. I think you might like the song Brand New Day, you can find a safe version to react to at "Brand New Day | LIVE Compilation (HQ)". Can't wait for the next one. 🤘🦊🤘

Oh I agree, Su's voice is so clear! I don't know if you want to listen to metal, but BABYMETAL mixes a lot of genres and has a diverse catalogue of songs. Two lighter and more pop oriented songs are "Brand New Day" and "Light and Darkness". Make sure to view live performances because they are a "Sing and Dance Metal Unit", so the music itself is only part of the BABYMETAL experience. 🙂 I should add that they are the only "happy metal" band I know of, their live shows are amazing and they bring so much positive energy.

Good suggestions! They actually have quite a few lighter songs! 'No Rain No Rainbow', 'Akatsuki (unfinished ver.), 'The Legend' or 'Shine' are some other examples, but as perfectly described they blend a lot of genres and have a lot of different styles. So always worth checking out more Babymetal 😉🤘🦊🤘

Sugoi! Because you're starting with the FT format, you might find "Monochrome" and "The One" to be the most similar BABYMETAL songs you'll experience. In other words, a synonym for BABYMETAL could be 'unexpected', because in general, no 2 BABYMETAL songs are the same. Arigatou! 🦊🤘 #notacult #kawaiimetal #fusionmetal

Nice reaction. You just witness a small miracle. Su and Moa standing still while singing. An Ultra rare thing to see. They have an uncanny ability to draw you in to their songs. Su's ability to portray emotions through her vocals is amazing. Moa is as kawaii as could be. When they perform this song the fans love joining in with Moa's part. They have some other surprises when they perform this live. Babymetal everything you want in music and somethings you didn't know you needed.

Good reaction. Tbh I'd be more inclined to look at either the lyric video (it's quitee a meaningful song) or one of the live versions of this rather than going to "the one" on first take immediately - it is a fan based somg - and it's in English/American and is not really representative of most of what they do. Otherwise - almost anything Babymetal :) Generally...expect to be surprised by each of their performances :D

This is the piano version. Their normal music is metal. But that is what their vocals are like. Babymetal is a jpop metal fusion. The girls are the jpop.

Glad to see you enjoyed it, If you chose to dig deeper into the Foxhole, "I didn't expect this" is going to be like a mantra 😅. There are currently three different versions of this song, the studio one, this unique unplugged, and the live one from their shows. The most common interpretation of this song, given the hints in the official lyric video, is that it's about hope for those people caught in a war, living under bombings, still believing in a better future 🌈. The studio version is quite different and they managed to give the feeling of an explosion in the mix, live, you can actually feel the punch in your chest. Needless to say, it's my favorite song from The Other ONE, their most recent concept album, quite different from the previous ones, they consider it to be an experiment, something very different. 🤘🦊⚡️

Hi Charlie, great to meet you reacting to one of my favourite current bands, Babymetal! I'm really glad you discovered them, they bring so much joy to the metal community, as well as choreography lol. I hope you'll get to watch some of their live performances with full band and choreography, as it's the best place to see them at their best. Here you see Su (AKA Su-metal), the lead singer, along with Moa(metal) one of two members who are in charge of "scream and dance". Thankfully they don't do much scream-o nonsense (I wouldn't be here if that were the case haha), but they do dance beautifully. Their natural habitat is with a band behind them playing a range of rock styles that are derived from modern heavy metal, range to classic rock and 80s metal. Against these brutal rhythms they set their sweet, J-Pop-esque vocals, which sing of such metal-heavy subjects as putting together a picnic for a summer party, or debating with themselves over whether to have that one piece of chocolate. And did I mention they crucify Su every night at the start of their performances? Ah...

Somehow it's really hard for me to watch someone react to this as their first exposure to Babymetal, because this isn't what Babymetal is at all. Although this shows their vocal abilities and talent, this isn't what they perform. They are a Heavy Metal Dance performance group. To better understand who they are, you must watch them perform live. They perform choreography along with singing, mixing J-Pop vocals with very heavy metal. If you know about First Take performances, then you know that these are softened/acoustic/alternate versions of what the actual music is like.

BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno (Yui left in 2018 due to health reasons). Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old when the group began. All three were friends and classmates who attended an idol school/group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents. Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result. At first Amuse showed no interest and the girls had only financing from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia). If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to LIVE performance videos as this is where they shine. They have over 50 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more. Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.) Suggest reacting to these for a start. Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls Syncopation LIVE Megitsune LIVE at Budokan 2021 Road of Resistance LIVE in Japan Headbanger LIVE Shine LIVE Tales of the Destinies LIVE Yava LIVE with Kami Band intro at 2017 Fox Festival Catch Me If You Can LIVE with Kami Band intro At their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki (who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019) has officially become the third member. Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles. Good luck and hope to see you again.

Unfortunately you are probably having upload problems with the other Babymetal TFT. There seems to be an issue, of which I guess is because the The One unfinished version was released on a limited edition CD in Japan many years ago, and it's getting flagged because it never got an official release on Babymetal's channel, whereas studio album reactions are typically okay to react to. I naturally recommend you react to the original Monochrome lyric video to compare. I also recommend Light and Darkness (Live) which is also off their new album. The video is uploaded by "who?". It does have a watermark over the intro part of the song to prevent blocking, but goes away once the song starts.

I’m in the process of completing the video so I’m sure I will find out. However, if I run into the issue I will try react to the studio album. Thank you for the recommendations ☺️
