To be honest the first thing that I wanted to start with was the engine the problem was the way the rust was I had no choice but to start with it which led me to paint the whole car but finally we are about to fix the engine.

I'm also no an expert but it is advisable to replace both your oil pump and water pump when rebuilding an engine just for peace of mind because if any one of the two fails it will destroy all your hard work.... Good luck mmata

Use the opportunity to change the exhaust studs/bolts. replace the oil pump o-ring. replace the head bolts. change the oil seal for the cam, intermediate and crank shaft. water pump and thermostat. Use very little/moderate rtv silicone when assembling

i had also rebuilt my engine a couple of months ago(obviously done by a professional), i recommend you rebuild the suspension afterward cause the engine will have so much power the worn-out suspension won't be able to handle it. Much love brother.

Great video and content mate. Our very own Mat Armstrong in the making. Haha I have a love-hate relationship with MK1’s. One moment I like them and then the next ai. Out of curiosity how are those headlights versus the OEM ones and the projector ones paired with HID bulbs? Enjoying your content, and looking forward to the E36 content (I’ve always had a soft spot for the E36). Maybe consider opening up a way we can also donate/contribute towards the builds, that way it can help with progress but also help with pumping out more videos.

The headlights that came with the car, which looks similar to the ones that I have, they were much brighter than the ones that I have now and were very visible at night . ones that I have right now on the car there are almost like oems because you barely see the road. The ones I have are 30% better than oem headlight. 🫡

This is the best engine to build. I hope you got the Hastings Piston rings Bru. After that , it's just matter of placing Piston No1 and No4 at TDC, Place and tight top and done. It might take time to start so make sure you have strong battery and jumpers to keep battery strong as you keep on cranking it. For the gasket, get the same steel one don't buy the cardboard one, it will burn out. Only annoying thing when dealing with this engine is exhaust manifold.😂

Very lovely build bru Your distributor is from a carburetor model golf It needs to be changed to a fuel injection one The carburetor distributor has mechanical advance built into it The fuel injection one is a solid distributor and the timing advance is controlled by the computer box Very good job in trying to do everything yourself, keep up the good work much respect 🙏

All the best bru. Make sure to take the crankshaft in to engineers to be checked as well, before buying bearings. I must also advise that you take the block to the engineers as well. The cylinders should get honed before installing new rings so that they can run in properly. Now that the block is stripped maybe you can drop it out the bottom?

I advise not to take if itstill standard coz if they cut it it won't last and over size bearing are hard to find sometimes and may fail pumping oil if it had no bearing knock replace bearing and ring only

Guys we must not speak from a privilege point of view, the car was just smoking, yes it is best to do what you say when rebuilding an engine but on a budget I thing he is fixing what is at fault. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you are wrong.

@@sindiswavane343 Sure I get what you're saying about the crank, it's his first build so there is no harm in getting it checked, just in case. To address the problem of smoking it's always advisable to get the cylinders honed. If not, it can still smoke with new rings because of previous wear to the cylinder walls. All this said in support of a successful build for the bra. 🏆
