This is awesome. Love Baker. When I started going there back in the early 90s there were T-bars and a very sketchy 2 chair with no bar, and they'd let you sleep in the lodge cafeteria in your sleeping bag so you could do multi-day trips in comfort, instead of having to sleep in your car in the parking lot. Love Baker. 94 through 99 saw some absolutely epic seasons at Whistler, Red, Whitewater, Baker, etc. Love the OG jacket, woot woot! Been around for a while. My car bin of old clothes, helmets, goggles, gloves, etc have saved me and friends and randoms so many times over the decades. Turned so many days, that forgotten things or wetted-out clothes could have ruined, into good times for all.
@conradcoolerfiend7 күн бұрын
whatttt they sounded like absolute legends back then! I guess thats where the precedent of the parking lot camping comes from.
@recklesstoboggan7 күн бұрын
@conradcoolerfiend Sadly, sleeping in the lodge in your sleeping bag was a pretty common thing thought the Washington State and Southern BC region back in the 80s and 90s when the hills were still Mom and Pop owned. You could sleep in the lodge at Red Mountain in Rossland too back then.

Awesome episode! I’m a Baker local, got into skiing in 2022 because my kiddo needed a new winter hobby, and we’ve really grown to love it! We only ski at baker, since it’s just over an hour from our house here in Bellingham, and we have season passes, so it feels “free.” 😂 it was really fun to see you experience our local Hill! As a fellow KZbinr, this was a cool taste of what it must feel like for a lot of my audience to watch videos when I ride their local terrain. Thanks again for the sweet video and glad you enjoyed Baker!

The last couple times I was there the biggest Chair was entitled "Sticky Wicket"; I don't know what they call it now. Rainer as it does to Mt. Baker ski resort. That wind and snow already hit Paradise but had more left in the tank to dump on Mt. Baker ski resort about 200Km north of Paradise. It's probably too late for me to put this in comments, but I have great advice about gloves for wet weather: Forget about Goretex gloves. From Dave Searle's channel I learned what ice climbers use: "rubber" Japanese fishing gloves (actually polyurethane), in particular Showa's Model 282 Temres gloves. They are waterproof and breathable and, because their outer surface is polyurethane, they never wet out. And about Helly Hansen's Lifa Infinity Pro: I've owned one of their jackets with this material, and in spite of their claims that it never needs DWR treatment, I found it benefited greatly from Nikwax. It will probably still eventually wet out, but it will take much longer.

Going to Baker for a week for my big trip this year in like a month. Which chair are you on at 19:16? The stuff to the right is the kind of stuff I'm going there for. Trying to get a game plan going. Your video is a sign from the ski gods that I must go.

Dude. You're gonna lose it when you see the terrain in person. Unlimited natural features. It is like nothing I've ever seen.

The entire ski area runs on diesel fuel, some lifts are powered by electricity generated from diesel and a few far ones are powered by diesel engines directly. The raven lodge gives me the classic ski lodge feeling. Love Baker. 😊

Can you make a video about editing tips? Like how do you frame your videos with the x4 after you take them?
