"Just shoot her!" 🤣 Like Mal told Simon in the pilot: "If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed." Mal really doesn't like to kill people if he doesn't have to, he got enough of that in the war, but in a shootout of course he'll shoot to kill in order to save himself and his people. Death is so final. I like Gandalf's words to Frodo: “Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.”

There's actually a thought that's gone around about her character that, if the show hadn't been dropped, after a complex series of recurring appearances, she would have become a member of the crew. Mal talked about having "a cook" on the ship at one time, and she does have that skill, as well as her con artist skills. Whether this is based on something Joss Whedon actually said or it's just idle speculation I don't know.

@@CFWhitman canonically, kaylee is serenity's usual cook. it's not commented on much in the show, but nearly every cooking-related line in the show is delivered by kaylee, from her comment in the pilot that "shepard book has offered to help me prepare something" to her attempts to make a birthday cake for simon.

It's been said that in the scenes where Nathan Filion was naked, he was covered up with a photo of the director, Joss Whedon. "Yosafbridge" was meant to be a returning character moving forward, plan was a running show for multiple seasons, that why they didn't kill her.

Of course your husband will love it, Firefly appeals to both genders, sci-fi fans and western fans alike, if not that then the humor... I don't think I've ever heard _anyone_ disliking the show :)

One reviewe watched every episode and liked the show a lot but hated Simon and River. They bored him to tears. A lot of people can get bored by certain sci-fi or character tropes. It's not easy to find a wide audience for "Firefly" but in today's streaming era it can be done as proven by other hit shows.

I've heard 1 person say that she didn't understand the hype and the overenthuatism people have. It was "just fine" in her book. I do not understand it.

You caught her taking the gun! Serious powers of observation. Never seen a reactor do that. I had to go back and look for it (but I always get invested in the main action and miss the Easter eggs, etc. until the 3rd or 4th watch, admittedly).

I love that Jewel/Kaylee broke character and laughed at "Wash" going what's she doing on this ship. Alan Tudyk is... great at cracking people up. "anybody there?" ... "Anybody else?" "Also I can kill you with my brain" Good talk. :) Oh, and you could say Yo-Saff-Bridge is the "trash" in this episode. I do love some Firefly, and getting to see it through fresh eyes is a treat. Not sure if this wasn't scripted to mesh with Inara's "some of the crew's performances were not as good as they could have been" line at the end, as you can see similar 'unnatural' reactions during some of the other scenes where they explain the heist.

When it comes to Alan causing people to break character, I love the bloopers/extras from Episode 3 Bushwacked. Look it up, Alan keeps going on and on about Zoe until the actor playing the Alliance officer finally breaks and dissolves into helpless laughter.

I think it speaks volumes for the show that in only 11 episodes, there are 3 re-occurring great characters with Badger, Niska, & Yo-Saf-Bridge. Inara rubs it in to Saffron that she had been played from the beginning. Inara points out that some of the crew didn't play their part very well and almost gave away the dupe. Most likely, Inara was talking about giggling little Kaylee. Kaylee was giggling away like a little school girl during the scene when Wash is asking "What is she doing on this ship?"

These three plus one more villain from a later episode would have made great recurring opponents for Season 2. I would have loved to find out their origin stories and watch them being thwarted in major episodes.

Jayne asking why YoSaffBridge didn't steal the MacGuffin herself was played off for laughs but it was reminiscent of Jayne insisting on saying his ER paramedic lines in Ariel, possibly foreshadowing of the actual heist. In an alternate universe where we get multiple seasons of Firefly i can easily see YoSaffBridge as a fun recurring character with an increasingly long list of aliases.

This is the funnest episode to watch as a reaction. Everybody hates YoSafBridge, she is such an entertaining villain, and having Inara leave her in the trash bin is so satisfying. Had the series continued they could have brought her back for more episodes of having her schemes fail.

Oh, Inara is a fighter, and remember, she knew about fencing and she did dodge Saffron's kick in Our Mrs. Reynolds. I imagine Companions get some self-defense and martial arts training as well as some weapons... Also, it did go well, they got paid, it kinda went according to plan and no one was severely hurt.

Simon offered Jayne the carrot - River showed him the stick. And now Jayne knows that they know, but they haven't called him out in front of the rest of the crew, so he can figure that as long as he behaves from here on, they probably won't shame him in public - and he does care what people think of him. Simon handled this quite well.

I think my favorite episodes of this show are the ones dealing with YoSafBridge. The back and forth between her and Mal is priceless and the reactions of the crew to what is going on is always hilarious. Thank you for another great reaction Nythical 😁 🐡P.S.
