What's also funny is Saitama's own Serious punches don't really have any base reference point, it's just him throwing a punch with an intensity he calls serious, often in a sort of 4th wall breaking manner to let us know at that moment he's throwing something big, or for other characters to note as well. But yeah it's definitely on the low end compared to his Serious Punch against Boros (and other ones to come 😉)

Fun Fact: in the manga "you heard" 2 sonic booms when Saitama went to Goketsu, Saitama always let his opponent threw the first punch (unless if you pisses him of, like Boros). So Goketsu was not worth a thing, it was all one punch too. The Anime stretched it to fit with Suiryu dialogues, technically.

Honestly I think the ghosting effects absolutely destroyed the reputation of this season, everyone thinks it has awful animation, and while it certainly is a step down from the team of industry giants that was on the first season, a lot of it's best animated scenes were made muddy by the ghosting effects, which means you can't even really tell that they're well animated. If you look at some of the gengas for S2, you'll realise that behind the ghosting and crappy compositing and colourwork, there is some really great animation

It's kind of like an onion-skin effect for animation, but in the final product, so that the animation is less flashy. Japanese TV is mandated by law to censor certain particularly flashy scenes with ghosting and dimming effects, because it can potentially cause photosensitive epileptic attacks for some people, however when the anime is released on blu-ray the studio is no longer bound by such regulations so they can remove those effects and show the series in it's intended form without censoring, and that includes both anti-epilepsy mesures and censorship of gore, excessive blood and smoking.

Eventually I managed to figure out is that because this fight serves no narrative purpose, it's a fight for the sake of having a fight, there's no dialogue, no development, it's outome doesn't matter - the only thing you can focus on is how it looks, which yeah it didn't look great. Still, I watched entire S3 and re-watched it a couple times too

Actually, I think Saitama is already an evolved human because he became too powerful in 3 years, and he has physical changes like going bald. Monsterization (turning into a monster) is essentially a natural process driven by your will and how intensely you train (like nearly dying multiple times in combat). It changes your appearance and strength based on what motivates you and your prior abilities. When you turn into a monster, you almost always lose your mind and become completely enraged. So yes, basically, because of his determination and intense battles, Garo is slowly turning into a true 'natural' monster (as opposed to the artificial monsters created by monster cells). That said, I highly recommend reading the manga/scan version of One Punch Man; it's incredibly well-drawn (thanks to Murata, the GOAT), and it goes much further in the story - there are about three more seasons in the scans.

Season 1 was one of the best-animated anime ever, so everyone was really hyped for Season 2, expecting it to be on the same level.
