As a driver leans forward the display on the digital inside screens for the mirrors actually changed like they would traditionally. Would love love love to see this little gem in the US. I currently have a Fit which is getting older. I've been looking for EV hatchback cars similar in size and quality to the Fit, but they are few and far between. I can't believe Honda no longer sells their Fit or Civic hatchback -- with massive amounts of storage -- here in the US. Yeah, yeah, Honda claims to still have a Civic hatchback but you can't put a big cabinet in one. And, yeah, a lot of people here like their huge cars. But there still is a market for EVs like the Honda e. We have some Honda Fit-sized cars that are EVs, though it seems like none of them meet the Honda standard. The thought of driving a bigger car is so unappealing. Plus, I have no need for it.

Yes it does take a mindset change to be willing to consider an EV. I my observation of the car market Europe were sleepy at first, but once they have had time to evaluate the EV offerings they are coming around and adopting EV's in large numbers. By contrast in the US a number of enthusiasts jumped on EV's very early and now we face a lot of stubborn people who are not willing to change their minds to the point of deliberately standing in the way.. Long-term I believe China, South America and Europe will embrace EV's. Japan, Africa and America will not. Canada may buck the America stubborn trend.
@jessicaal4153 жыл бұрын
Your observation is on point but not just in cars but in just about everything else. The US sure is stubborn and very conservative in many ways compared to Europe and Asia.
@Mi5terMarc3 жыл бұрын
Americans like to prepare for weird use cases that never actually come to pass. Hence all the AWD/4WD vehicles even in places that never see snow. Everyone wants a truck despite the fact that the beds are never used. Everyone evaluating EVs says they need 400 mile range despite the fact that most people put less than 50 miles on in a day's driving. That plus there's a common misconception about car size, that I think is a holdover from the 80s, where people think extremely large cars are safer. Probably a good bet that we will be far slower than Europe on EV adoption. Americans fear change.
@JeanPierreWhite3 жыл бұрын
@@Mi5terMarc AWD is for more than snow. Rains can bring mud onto the road or simply makes them slick. I chose AWD ID.4 not because I need the AWD but because it has better performance vs the RWD version. There are many reason to pick AWD outside of snow and ice.

Well, Europe basically has no choice. Rising emission targets force car manufacturers to offer as many EVs as possible. And by 2035 fossil fuel powered cars will be outlawed anyway, Well, new ones that is.
@rogerstarkey53903 жыл бұрын
Very soon it won't be a case of having a choice The manufacturers have to decide if they build a global platform based on EV or ICE. A common chassis will be a compromise. ICE only will rule out 70%(?) of the global passenger car market. They will either go Full EV or build lower volume ICE vehicles at reduced (if any?) profit margin for a few markets while still having to develop EV's for elsewhere. Not going to happen. They will all go EV or fade away.

How does one love a vehicle that only has double the range of a little electronic bicycle and is also so very, very expensive? The battery pack is by far the most expensive component of an EV, so there is no excuse for the car being so incredibly expensive. I don't mind short range but the price should reflect the tiny battery pack since that is where most of an EV's cost is tied to. BTW, I love Honda and own an Acura but this vehicle appears to be a fail in its current form for the US market.
