My very first capture with the ToneX platform using the brand new IK Multimedia Axe IO One! The capture is of my Synergy SYN30 with the Friedman module. More ToneX stuff coming soon!

I have a Kemper which sounds great, and that's what we're all interested in ultimately imo. I also would like a Tonex because I think from what a lot of respected KZbinrs seem to be saying it is closer to the actual amp sound and feel and requires less tweaking to make sound authentic than the Kemper. The only reason I haven't bought one yet is that I tried the PC native version with the soundcard interface and was underwhelmed by the models. I'm also waiting for the captures market for Tonex to really take off. Kemper is literally years ahead in that regard. One of the main issues with all this amazing gear now is the continual rebuilding of libraries/captures/profiles or whatever. Maybe one day there will be an open format that they all support. You can half do it with IRs across different modellers, but captures and rigs are not compatible at all.

I would argue that the Kemper and ToneX capture equally well to be honest. I think they both have some of their own built in sound and feel. Not in a negative way, just the way they process the capture / profile I guess. Both killer bits of kit. Just depends on your needs.

I got the tonex software in a great black Friday deal, i was going to buy the tone x capture interface but is more expensive than the axe one, do you think the axe one captures will be as accurate as the interface dedicated for the job?

so you can capture with this interface and then load it into a tonex pedal, I already own the pedal but not this interface question 2 can you use it like a tonex capture or it has to be separate ?

I got the Tonex in hopes of using the amp captures into the FX return of a Marshall combo amp since the Marshall isn’t super versatile. Im still doing lots of tweaking. It’s okay but I’m not blown away with it just yet. Hoping some better captures come around

Have you been running the amp captures with no cabs? Also, even if it is cab-less captures, you are hitting another power amp in the Marshall that will colour the sound as well.

can you please explain to me How you captured your Friedman synergy mod (once i get those synergy mods my tonex pedal, tube amps and headrush will be collecting dust ) but I don't get it theres only one input and the Microphone or direct out of the amp goes to the One input. and the tonex plugin in the DAW doesn't do modeling so I cant go that route by recording the signal. I'm stumped .I might have to return this Interface I got just for this reason I already own better interfaces.

Dan what's the bridge HBkr in the Suhr? Still the HHS+ ... sounds like it has that mid-range push. Oh Tonex sounds most excellent.

Cheers! Currently SSH+, I do really like it. I’m also a big fan of the DSV+ I have in my Tom Anderson. It’s slightly lower output, a bit warmer but sounds so open! Could be partly the guitar too.

Sounds great Dan👍 I was very into Tonex, using the IOS App which is very underrated. Got an issue though with my Laptop which cannot run Advanced Captures , it’s over the spec needed ( i5 processor, 32 go and Nvidia 3050ti GPU) but this seems to be an issue with some laptops. Runs Default captures in under 4 minutes. Ticket open with IK for a while now but they seem to have stopped responding and have no solutions. Out of interest have you tried Advanced vs Default captures?

what are your thoughts about the Kemper vs Tonex,i think the Kemper still killing it

Kemper is still my touring rig. Everything in one box, fx just keep getting better and now this ‘Liquid Profiling’. I have only made the one capture but I will say it sounds like it’s as good as, or very close to the Kemper for pure amp tones. Due to its capture process, it got a great sound out of the gate. The Kemper often takes a lot of refinement and setting tweaking to get it nailed in my experience. This feels great to play too. I’d definitely consider using this on gigs where I only need a few tones with a few pedals or fly dates.
