I deeply appreciate that you're making good on that promise to go into tournaments with the mindset of being wacky and surprising. I don't even think the last two matches were that bad. You made a good defend both times; the only real issue is that you didn't pick a strong followup to it. That's really just your relative inexperience with Protoss. Give it a few more months of committing to random and you'll get a much better sense of it. Hope the other projects you're working on turn out to be fun and let you re-energize some!

Aww Marc, yeah those games against Special were hard. Also This is a new experience as a random player, that is, getting a race you don't want to get. Right at the start of game 2 against Special you already had a defeated mind. You did lift yourself up for a great early game defence, watching you defend against those two Reapers and a Helion was great! But lifting yourself up again used so much energy. I think learning to play races you don't feel like playing is going to be a hard thing about playing random. Thank you for being vulnerable and talking about how you really felt about those games. A lot of your fans, me included, can feel the same way when we loose games and seeing how you worked through it was really cool. I am really looking forward to seeing more of your games, and more tournament games as Random.
@Jabullz10 ай бұрын
As an outside observer I can see how knowing who you are going to play effects your games even before you play them. I haven't played since broodwar but your sc2 videos are really fun to watch and have been for a few months now. The games against Special were the same kind of thing that shook you in the 500k tourney as well.

brother all your videos are awesome and thank you sooooo much for the amazing content ! I appreciate it so much and it gave me hours and hours of enjoyment. I don't even play SC2 anymore but your upbeat and genius way to approach this game have made me smile so many times ! I don't care if there are going to be less videos, I'm gonna watch all of them for sure ! I have the utmost respect for your work ethic and the insane output but you need to be and stay happy so put yourself first
@mgelbart11 ай бұрын
The reduced schedule makes total sense. Good to do it sustainably! I have a suggestion which is to try a way more difficult challenge where you definitely can't make it to GM. And example could be "SCVs only to Diamond!". With turrets, planetaries and SCVs, you could probably win against bronze/silver/gold. Maybe more?! Can we find out?! For me, getting to see real games in the lower levels would be fun for variety, rather than having all the content at GM/pro level. Lower league players just provide a different type of entertainment for the viewer, and seeing how you handle such an insane challenge would be really cool.

Hey Thermy. Since you have so many builds to worry about when playing random, why not write down your builds on a little sheet. You can also write down some variations. So if your opponent does X you do Y. That sort of thing. That way you're ready. I know you can do it. I believe in you. You're the best.
@garion04610 ай бұрын
Dude, slowing down is 1000% fine. Many channels have a 1 vid a week (or less) schedule and that's fine, just do what you need to do, especially if it means new cool projects. Personally, i can't keep up with watching all your content anyway. I sometimes have to skip vids, so less is probably a win for me! Ps. Your ability to step back from a tilted situation and analyse it and recover your mood is awesome. It's not easy to move a mindset like that, i admire your ability to do it.

My only gripe with random is that it seems to be so heavily biased towards protoss, which makes it somewhat predictable (vs. a balanced 1/3 chance of getting any race), so playing random has less of an impact on opponents than it should
