Have been in Germany for 5 years, I notice people really have different habits. Taking the noise as an example, in China, the streets and restaurants are noisy, but it is usually very quiet inside subway wagons or high speed train cabins. In Germany, however, streets can be quiet, but there are always shouting teenagers or singing football fans in public transport.

Мадмуазель надо рассказать и показать что в России очень много гор, на любой ”вкус и цвет” Китай и рядом не стоял с нашими красотами и разнообразием во всем. Живя в одной Москве и временами выезжая в Питер ничего не увидишь. В России есть всё, поля, степи, горы, моря, озёра, океан, долины, леса, да что угодно. Конечно когда в первые посещаешь другую страну, всё кажется удивительным, привлекательным. Тем более когда ничего толком не видел в стране которой живёшь. В России много национальностей, их культура, обычаи, колорит. Всей жизни не хватит чтоб все это объехать и изучить.. для меня Россия это лучшее место на всей планете. Здесь есть всё что есть во всех частях земли. В плане природы точно. Я полагаю на этот раз по английски для друга из Китая, так как Французский он вряд-ли понимает, а Русский тем более🙂

She grew up quite sheltered. She's also not as open-minded here & there.😊 Regular restaurants in Italy also noisy like China. Chinese hospitality in restaurant means they'll always order more than you need. Also, people eat snails in France, chicken feet in China, insects in Thailand, etc. Shanghai temperature in winter can go below 0° C, in summer as hot as tropical Singapore. Some tourists feel that traffic is too quiet because most vehicles are electric. The horn use may not be as restrained as the swiss but definitely not as liberal as India. Essentially, when in Rome don't expect them to be like xyz country. China may be impressive in many aspects but they are not perfect and is still dynamically progressing further.😊

Well, if Italian restaurants are noisy, it doesn't change anything about Chinese ones - they are still way noisier than in Russia for example. Which is not a bad thing, just a difference I noticed. As for snails, I was never able to try them either, I'm not saying that China is the only country where I don't understand why people eat what they eat (it's just another level of weird 😁) But of course, as any other person on this planet, I have prejudices due to growing up in one country, and I have much to learn. I don't think anyone can escape that and be totally free of prejudices, even if trying hard 😌

@@HermannSusic-y5o Vous êtes venu demander aux russes ce qu'ils pensent de Poutine ? La plupart d'entre eux en ont une idée positive. Bien sûr, il y a des russes qui sont contre le gouvernement russe, mais d'après mon expérience (et je rencontre beaucoup de gens, à Moscou et ailleurs) ils sont loin d'être une majorité. Il ne faut pas plaquer notre vision d'européens sur la Russie (surtout quand on me reproche de manquer d'objectivité 😁). Pour ce qui est de la Crimée, regardez les stats, le pourcentage de population qui était de nationalité russe même avant qu'elle soit annexée. A vrai dire, sur cette question, je crois qu'on a un point de départ tellement différent, vous et moi, que je n'ai pas envie de me lancer dans le débat, je ne pense pas que ce soit très utile 😄 venez voir sur place, écouter les russes qui vivent en Russie, et on en reparle !

As a Chinese who lives in Europe, this is one of the most objective views of China. It's an amazing country with rich history and culture. However, it's still got a long way to go. Everything been developing so fast in recent decades, people just didn't have the chance to be educated/civilized. If you look at the younger generations, it's much better. Though this will be a continuous effort for several generations. That said, it's still a great country in the sense that it give millions of normal people like me a chance to choose how we want to live our lifes, which was absolutely impossible for my parents/grandparents. This all happens in short 30 years. For that, I'm deeply greatful. Hope you will go back to China in the future since there's so much more interesting things waiting.

Большое спасибо за видео, Габриэль! Было очень интересно узнать о Ваших впечатления после поездки в Китай, о сходство и различия русской и китайской культур. В России большие расстояния между климатических зонами, но очень рекомендую съездить на Алтай по Чуйскому тракту, к Карокольским озерам. На Кавказе очень красивая природа, горы, озера. Съездите в Кисловодск, там можно взять экскурсии и на Эльбрус, Домбай и многие другие красивые места. С Днём рождения, милая Габи! Мечты как бабочки на тонком лепестки.... Пусть будет счастье... И не где-то в далеке... А здесь, сейчас, всегда с тобою рядом! Новых интересных путешествий и прекрасных добрых людей на жизненном пути! 💐

But in this cas, it is not the problem of Gabrielle the independance of Hong Kong, Taïwan etc... Gabrielle makes that's it feels her happy, she goes where she wants, it is not your problem. If she wanted to gone to China it is just not your problem. I am a french guy and I hate my governement, i like russian people and I hate ukranian governement. Once you get out of the main tourist circuits, (like in the countryside or in big unknown provincial cities) you quickly realize that you are just one of the very few foreigners there. But then you get a better taste of the “real” country. Even in technological hubs like Shenzhen, you can quickly get “lost”. I wanted to visit the artistic neighborhood of “Dafen” there, took the subway on a line where I was the only foreigner, got out at the Dafen station where nobody could understand English! It took me 2 hours to find the artistic place… I had to sketch an artist and his painting on a napkin to be understood and immediately get the right directions. I like these experiences. (I am French too, living in US)

Креветки смотрящие своими чёрными глазками из супа, напомнили мне один старый анекдот. Охранник на заводе сидит на посту и есть бутерброд с килькой, к нему подходит директор и говорит что завтра будет делегация иностранцев и еда должна быть поприличней или без неё. На следующий день директор водит делегацию по заводу, проходят мимо охранника а тот ест бутерброд с чёрной икрой, все немного удивились и пошли дальше. После отъезда делегации директор подходит к охраннику и интересуется, где тот достал чёрную икру, на что охранник ему отвечает что всю ночь у килек глаза выковыривал.

Горы это действительно прекрасно. А то что вы уже используете Сусанина в шутливом варианте проводника, говорит о том что Вы, очаровательная Габриель, уже очень глубоко погрузились в нашу культуру. Je confirme toutes tes impressions + ou - , ayant moi-même bcp voyagé en Union soviétique 1970-1975( 1 an à Voronej ) - 1977 et plus ( plusieurs fois le transsibérien été / hiver) Russie ( 2014) et Chine ( Pékin -> Ouroumtchi 1983) ! Nos impressions sont extrêmement identiques et tu les décris très justement 👍💪🙌✌️Bravo et merci pour tes vidéos si rafraîchissantes 😂

However, I believe that a lack of manners and inconsiderate behaviors actually indicate the level of economic freedom enjoyed by average Chinese people as well as the speed of progress. Since you went to a lot of tourist attractions in Shanghai and Beijing (these are like Moscow in Russia), which are crowded with non-local Chinese people from other parts (rural areas or small towns) of China, who are usually less educated and well-mannered than local Shanghai and Beijing people. Although there are some rules and etiquette standards in place, people are more tolerant of bad behaviors (as people from other places in China do not have these rules in their hometown). Most middle-aged or older people in China lived through quite extreme poverty in their childhood, so manners were not very important to them. But if these people had lived in the developed world, they would probably be homeless instead of traveling to places like Moscow and Paris as tourists.

In eastern Asia, there is a phrase "Did you eat?". It basically means "Hi, are you okay". Long time ago like 100 or maybe 200 years ago, there wasn't enough foods. And eating was the most important thing for people at that time. That's why it's still considered to be generous and kind to visitors if you provide a lot of foods with your guests. And I agree. It can be quite wasteful.

I was born in Shanghai so i member when i was little, there were signs all over the streets saying "spitting on the ground is forbidden" and community monitors will yell at you for the violation, guess not so anymore

just a few points: not all western apps are banned, only ones that don't adher to chinese laws. I will just give one example, adult content. google chose to leave china rather than filter any content at all, thus it and all its subsidiaries don't operate in china. apple and microsoft adjust their products accordingly and thus you can use them in china without the need for a vpn. politeness is relative. a better term is cultural difference because some things that are considered polite in the west would be rude in chinese culture. example, childern are taught to greet people loudly, so they can be heard. when you meet your uncle, you should raise your voice 'uncle!'. by being shy and not addressing loud enough, you are showing disrespect. in western culture, your actions might be reserved in order as not to be judged. in china, no one will judge you so do as you like as long as you aren't intruding or hurting anyone else. there are nearly 10000 cafes in shanghai so I'm not sure what places your penpal took you. starbucks should be all over the place and there are chinese equivalents(luckin coffee) not to mention independent western style cafes. yes tea is much more popular but you shouldn't have to walk far to find good coffee. in most se asian countries you bring your own paper, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, etc for restrooms so it's the same in china. some in tourist areas do have paper but one should always be prepared. and of course people wash their hands, come on. maybe you just encountered some slobs but you shouldn't assume everyone is like that. if you are in less touristy areas, yes it might not be as well maintained but that's in a lot of places in the world. maybe russia or france has clean restrooms everywhere I dont know but come to the usa, you will see some filthy public restrooms lol. just way too many things to comment about but I can say maybe your penpal didn't do a good job explaining things. like that kidnapping thing, I hope you took it as a joke lol 🤣

Nous (les français) avons la chance maintenant d'aller dans ce pays sans visa pour les séjours de moins de 15 jours. En tous cas ces chinois sont toujours aussi bruyants, même chez eux. LOL C'est normal, ils sortent du moyen âge. Il y a 50 ans, c'était le 4ème pays le plus pauvre aux mondes. Et c'est incroyable qu'ils soient devenus un des pays le plus prospère de la planete.

Очень отвлекал их шум, чавканье и всякие физиологические звуки. Но в целом, они молодцы и очень организованные. И из своего опыта скажу, что самое лучше путешествие по России - это автопутешествие подальше от западной части - куда-то на Восток или на Север, за переделы Русской и Западно-Сибирской равнины.

Welcome to China! I'm surprised you didn't like the shrimp dish for I thought French people were generally comfortable with seafood and have a variety of seafood dishes on their menu. On the hot water preference in China it actually has a historical background. During the Korean War in the 1950s, the Americans used the biological warfare on China and North Korea. As a result the rivers near the Chinese-North Korean border were filled with harmful bacteria. So the PRC government at that time called on all Chinese citizens to boil the water before drinking to prevent infection. Since then boiling water has become a habit of Chinese people and lasted till today. And those shop assistant in Beijing they don't only do that to foreigners, as a local I sometimes get awkward too when they won't leave me alone but I've adapted. Afterall they are just doing their jobs. Anyway it's nice to see you had a good time. China is a massive country and some places hardly have foreign visitors throughout the year so not many foreign adaptions. But as it becomes more convenient for foreigners to get a visa this will get better.

Gabrielle, if you are missing mountains in Russia, a 2 hour flight from Moscow is Mineral'nye Vody and a bunch of other small towns, where there are numerous mountains in a wonderful resort setting. The highest mountain in Europe - Elbrus - is also in Russia and also in that general direction.

1. Kanji is an English word for Chinese characters used in Japanese language. In China it’s called Hanzi (汉字)，which literally means Han characters. Kanji is a Japanese pronunciation that sounds like Hanzi when Japan adopted Chinese characters. I guess Chinese wouldn’t be happy when you use Kanji to describe Chinese characters, but I think they understand that you are a foreigner and more exposed to Japanese culture before. 2. The Chinese goods that sold to the west are imported by local western importers and they have to choose something that western people can afford while they can also make money. With same money you can definitely buy better quality things in China. 3. Chinese people tend to use their own toilet papers in China because people are afraid of using toilet papers that other people have touched and think it’s dirty. People are even afraid of sitting on a western toilet because you never know who were sitting there and what was on it. 4. I see spitting pretty often here in the US as well as some other western countries so I feel the spitting rate is close but the base population in China is just huge so you definitely see more in terms of volume in China. Overall you are already a brave woman that thinks independently and jumps out of western brainwashing. Hope you have a wonderful and happy life🙏🏻

eating in china, depends on where u eat. most restrants are noise, but still a few restraunts are quiet. usually, if the price is affordable, noisy often. if you go to fast food chain, e.g. burger king or pizza hut, quiet, also, if you want to quiet, u can book a sigle room, very quiet and convinet, such as privite bathroom for your room. however, i sometime like the noisy restraunt, called fly restraunt, often good meals. i live in beijing.
