I haven't had a Pearl Drum set since 2007ish. This is the 1st time I've had an urge to buy a Pearl set. This set looks much better in your studio than on the Sweetwater website. 1st song I'd jam too ? Oh that's a no brainer..... Eye of the Tiger !

I think the vintage drums need a coated heads, like a Evans UV1 or UV2

There’s no reason that even a heavy rock drummer can’t use the current bass cymbal arm or the flat-base stands. Many hard hitting drummers in the 60s-70s used them. There’s a certain point where using more force to hit drums & cymbals does nothing for volume & tone. You’ll just wind up denting & breaking heads - and cracking or breaking cymbals

Well said! I recently bought a set of dw flat based 6000 series hardware, and find them to be awesome. If Keith Moon and John Bonham could tour with flat based gear, I think Lil ol Me will be just fine!

This was the kit fully muffled. Without the muffling on, IMHO, this beat any kit out there accept Ludwig Classic maple. It would argue it sounds fairly close to a DW with their stock heads, but much better (IMHO) without the muffling. That's just Casey's style of tuning.

I've been playing for 17 years and was fortunate enough to spend a few hours behind everything from Yamaha (Stage to Recording customs), Ludwig USA custom, Tama Starclassic, Noble & Cooley, Ludwig classic maple... and I've been auditioning dozens of kits first through KZbin during the pandemic then going in drum shops all around Montreal city. And let me tell you, I have not find a better set for the money period. This is the set I've been personally dreaming of for years! It gets the stuff that we shouldn't have getting rid of (internal dampeners, cymbal mount on the bass drum instead of tom mounts - funny how you're afraid of the weight of the cymbal xD). Also, I wouldn't have demonstrated the kit fully muffled at first those black dots aren't gonna sing this way! - but my God! With your Evans, it was in-sa-ne! If you have a studio THIS is the one kit to have with the 22". Also your kid is so cute and you two have a great relationship!
