Visit Westbrook Avenue and Royal Esplnade Margate which was owned by Henry VIII, and there is a place called the Courts which has a Royal covenenant on the green because that is where he stayed while visiting. Other roads are called Boleyn Avenue (after Ann) and "Seymour Avenue (after Jane). It is a little known but very historic part of British history as is Westgate-on-Sea a walk away.

Hey Jack, great video of my home town of 66 years. Glad you liked the Mural on Peter's Fish Factory, I painted that in 2011. :) (Yeah I'm a painter / artist). My studio and gallery are opposite the harbour in York Street. So you know for next time. Ramsgate has numerous art galleries and great indie shops, pubs and Micro Pubs (Try one of those next time?) and cafes. The boat you admired in the harbour is " Havengore" the vessel that carried Sir Winston Churchill down the Thames during his state funeral in 1965. The Maritime Museum is currently being renovated. You're right Ramsgate is rather special. Looking forward to Ramsgate Part Two? ;)

I lived in Ramsgate for 30 years before emigrating to Canada in 2011. I love the town, the seafront, the people, and walks along the beach to Broadstairs. From the Westcliff, there is a wonderful walk along the clifftop to Pegwell Bay & the Nature Reserve. And the Ramsgate Tunnels is an unforgettable experience!

The fenced off hall across the road from Churchill’s pub used to be west-cliff Hall the Rolling Stones performed there. Our school HERESON BOYS SCHOOL used to hold their speech days there. Then the hall became the motor museum before the building became unsafe to use. Great video Jack thank you.

That place with the Busted poster used to be a venue where bands played back in the day, legend has it that the Rolling Stones found out they were being signed when they played there.

Hi. You have summed that place up very well. I need to go back. I have been three times now, all on glorious days. It is easy to get to. Only difference is I park up by Westcliff promenade where you walked as there is plenty of parking and the magic word it’s free. I then walk along, those hostel parts are a little sketchy but you are left alone if anyone is just hanging about. I go for a wonder in the town centre, go to the bakery then a walk along the sea front and back then in to Weatherspoons. It’s massive in there. Then on to that pier which as you saw it can be calm but the wind still blows you around so I have to be careful, then around to the marina past the hipster shops and to look at the boats before going past the smack boys place and up those steps which knackers you out before walking back sitting down and just enjoying the view. On a clear day you can see so far or on a low tide it looks great. Quite industrial in parts but Ramsgate has its charms.
@jackryanmillerАй бұрын
Hi there and thanks very much for the comment, it’s always good to hear when someone follows the same sort of route I did. I did go into the town centre too but didn’t end up putting any footage in this video as I didn’t want it to be too long !

Hi Jack. Interesting to see your take on my hometown. Plenty of changes over the years; not all of them good. Some of your Harbour shots appear to include, albeit at a distance, one of the "Little Ships" that occasionally visits Ramsgate - involved in the 1940 Dunkirk Evacuation and I've had the pleasure of being invited aboard. If you would like some footage then please post an email address. I will send the 🎥 immediately. All the best.

The train station is quite a walk to get to the sea front, it's at the back of Ramsgate and is 20 min walk. They have billed a new station just in between Sandwich and Ramsgate called Thanet Parkway, that Wetherspoons has to be one of my favorites.

That fenced off place by the Churchill Tavern used to be a Motor Museum. Brenda Blethyn was canpaining for the building at some point I believe. So many quirky parts to Ramsgate, i love it.
