This is my first step on my Journey to joining the World Championship Air Race! Yes, that's my goal! More on that in an upcoming video...
On Today's video:
WOW I absolutely love flying the MIGHTY Yak 52.
The Yak 52 is definitely an advanced aircraft and requires time on a CSU, retractable undercarriage aircraft due to it's speed and maneuverability.
I was so fortunate to have this opportunity to fly this machine and I'm absolutely in love with the rumbling radial sound, vibrations and the way you strap this monster to your body.
The Yak 52 is an awesome aircraft and I highly recommend you try one out if you're looking for an exciting aircraft to fly.
BONUS: You can fly aerobatics in the Yak 52 and even compete up to Intermidiate class.

I have been a pilot for 12 years and I've always wanted to share these experiences on KZbin.
The inspiration for this car builds, my KZbin channel, and what I'm creating comes from my own want to get involved in the car culture that I love so much but I've never jumped into.

Hey I was wondering about the type rating, I was under the impression that a pilot only needs a type rating for aircraft that weighs more than 12,500lbs or is jet powered. Ik these airplanes have more than 200hp so would a pilot need a high power endorsement? I know it’s important to get trained in new aircraft but would it just be a transition training and not a type rating?

*also a complex endorsement

It of course depends on where you are in the world. Under NZ Civil Aviation rules, for every aircraft, you require a type rating. In the US you don’t need a type rating, only additional training as you can fly anything under 12500lbs I think? You would need the complex & high performance additional training signed in your logbook by an instructor and I suspect you would need one for the radial engine as well. If you’re thinking about flying a Yak52, you should try it out, it’s an absolutely amazing aircraft ❤️

@@CaptainLawrenceNZ see I was under the impression that this was in the US lolololol that makes sense, and in the US I don’t believe you need a type rating for a Radial engine. Thank you for the quick response I really appreciated your video

Ahhhh yeah I’m in New Zealand. Oh wow 😯 The radial engines are awesome but I would still suggest flight time with an experienced instructor. They have loads of fish hooks in their operation. I have another video coming soon about what I’m up to and why I got the Yak rating… I’m joining the Air Race 2022 and it’s all part of the plan 💪💪

I had one for about 10 years. My wife made me sell it it because she thought my son might kill himself in it! The UK CAA were also getting difficult, and there was question mark abour corrosion in the wing spar. Love the paint job on this video.

Wow that’s amazing! The Yak52 is an incredible machine to fly I have loved it. Oh wow yeah the CAA UK I’ve heard is quite challenging but this one is actually from there. It was completely rebuilt about 10 years ago and painted about 5 years ago which is why it looks so smart. Thanks for watching ❤️

Gorgeous example of a Yak 52. Really nice. I got my first ride in one yesterday. I may be in the market for one! The only critique I have is that you seem to understand how cool the sound of the radial engine is...but you play music over the sound of the engine. That's a "head scratcher". :)

Yes this one is absolutely stunning because it has been completely overhauled in the last 5-8 years. Well I may have to make another Yak52 video then with some more Engine sounds 😏

Which war as the Yak52 in? The paint is nice but am I the only one wondering why bright yellow trim would be painted over camo? Maybe the war was fought over a lemon grove.

Great aeroplane and you flew it well. I did my training with the 52 guru Gena Elfimov, I still have my share in a 52 and fly when I can. Well done! :)

What kind of camera and attachment are you using? I only have one GoPro and i suction it to the side front glass. I don't use a helmet in my yak. What's the phone on the right side for?
@CaptainLawrenceNZ
@CaptainLawrenceNZ Жыл бұрын
Hey Scott… it’s a GoPro 360 Max attached to my helmet which allows me to edit all the footage post flight and have any view I want without worrying about it falling off however it means I can’t view my face. The phone is my EFB with my map, plates and weather information. Can have books flying around the cockpit during flight 🫠

Why is the 52 a warbird? It's not a plane used in war. It's of 80 or younger age. It never flew in wars. How can it be in the same league as a P40?

True, is a small trainer aircraft for military basic flight school. Training for the first complex aircraft, stable and easy to fly, sturdy to do aerobatics. It just looks like the WWII fighters design wise. No warbird at all. But I got one, like it
