As a dentist I'm so sorry to see that your dentist is replacing these fillings with white composite/plastic fillings. It will lead to problems with your teeth in the future. The silver fillings are far more durable, and better for your long term dental health for fillings like these. The plastic fillings do not take chewing forces as well, and they will shrink after they are placed, which starts stress fractures in your teeth. Bacteria also grow really well on these fillings, and will increase the risk of more cavities and gum disease.

@@kat7777 Actually, that's based on myths. It's been well proven that silver fillings are safe, and doesn't increase the risk of dementia. On the contrary, the plastic and chemicals of white fillings is an actual risk, not only to dementia, but also to cancer. Silver fillings have elementary mercury, which some people think is a problem, however, it's bound to other metals, forming a stable material. And, even if it was released in problematic quantities, it isn't even picked up by our bodies but pass straight through. White fillings are full of chemicals that are both known to cause cancer, and are easily picked up by our bodies. They also release nano plastic particles that stay in our bodies for ages. Unfortunately the white fillings are far more problematic than we thought even recently...

@@kat7777 even if, my dentist had to replace 8 times the white filling because they fell out after half a year, then finally I got a silver filling that held for 15 years, but since they had to fill it so often, my tooth got week and I had to get a crown. I wish they didn‘t mess around so often with the white ones. However, for back teeth silver would always be a better option in my opinion. So many people (like billions) got silver for like 100 years and lived until close to 100 they couldn‘t have been that bad. But I know at least 5 people who lost teeth because of white fillings (the tooth broke in pieces around, they needed to be refilled too often…).
