Jesus said in John 8:32 "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free". You cannot be free by enjoying his deception, but you cannot have the freedom of Christ with his videos. If you belong to a Bible based church, what can you enjoy listening to a man who is part of that deception? Pls think. If you wanto know the truth of God, pls listen to a good and Godly Pastor in a Bible based church. A great friend from college entered seminary right after college and was assigned to my parish upon ordination. There are a few of us from our college student ministry friend group at my parish/in our ministries (theater, young adult, etc.). We’ve come to somewhat of a neutral ground- we call him Father at the parish and when mentioning him in church situations (like when I’m answering a CCD question with my fourth graders that somehow involves our parish priests), but we revert to his first name when we’re hanging out as friends. It’s been neat being on the friend side of a priest and seeing him up there giving homilies and saying Mass and everything, but have distinct memories of being goofy teenagers (and very young 20s) being silly in and out of classes together.

I'm a deacon of 16+ years and a couple of answers really stood out. First, presiding at Baptism is the best! Second was about concentrating on grades. I was in my first year of formation and was worried about what grade I would get in a given course. One of the other men in formation told me, "When the Bishop places his hands on your head at Ordination, he will not ask what you got for a grade in Old Testament I." Things went much better after that. Thank you Fr. Casey for answering these questions and congratulations on your 1 year Ordination anniversary. Ad Multos Annos!

Rosary is not a prayer to God. You cannot prat to any human being dead or alive. Mary was a human being. She is or was not God. Prayer is our worship to God. How can worship Mary? Worship only your God. That is the 1st commandment. Why should you pray to Mary? She is still among the dead. No dead can listen to you. Can your great great grandmother listen to you? So us Mary. Mary has not yet risen frim thw dead. This is how the saten is misleading you. All the satan needs is to take the worship away from God and divert it to him. So he has shown you mary ro pray and divert the worship due to God elsewhere. Pla understand this. Pray only to God.

@@nimalp100 Prayer is not worshiping God. Prayer means simply to ask. So when we pray, we are not worshiping Mary. We are simply asking her to help us pray to God, just like asking someone to pray for you if you are sick.

@@TeacherRobert -that is the long way round, when we are invited to pray to God directly, because God has to reveal to the saints especially OUR LADY in asking her to pray for someone to God, and God already knows what the prayer is all about, before the saint even knows what to pray about.We can cut out the middle man or woman and go directly to God who always hears a prayer from a sincere heart.
@peterj67403 жыл бұрын
@Zachary Trent True indeed , praying for others is recommended and praiseworthy and heavenly saints praise God without ceasing and there is no reason to suggest that they don't pray for us in the name of Christ but no one in the apostolic era is ever recorded as praying to the Heavenly saints. Pray like this is the lord's invitation " our Father as recorded in Matthew 6 verses 6 onwards.

Father, you are so frank in answering the questions. I thank God for your calling to be a Franciscan priest. I wish to relate a true story regarding the Rosary. A friend named Ruby visited Medjugorje with her sick son. A Franciscan nun accompanied them. Ruby realised that she had lost her Rosary and she was very sad. She asked the Sister to pray that she will find it. Only Sister climbed the hill where the Cross and Mother Mary's statue were. When Sister was praying near the Cross with her Rosary underneath her palm, she heard a voice saying " give this Rosary to Ruby". When she opened her eyes she saw that there was another beautiful white Rosary underneath her Rosary. When I heard this story, I visited her home and saw with my own eyes the gift from Mother Mary. Ruby at the moment is suffering from cancer. When I called her yesterday she was hospitalised and said that she is receiving blood transfusions. She said that she is offering all her pains to Jesus for the conversion of sinners. She is so calm and relaxed and is ready to meet the Lord. Praise be to Jesus.

I did receive it! since then, i have experienced her powerful interventions in my personal life and ministry. i still recite and encourage others to recite rosary.

I left the OFMs (John the Baptist Province) in 1972 during my novitiate year after eight months precisely for the reason that you articulated in your answer to the last question. I could not in good conscience become a priest ( that was my path) and have to deal with the issues that those I would be ministering to without having experienced those issues myself (in whatever form). I've never regretted my three years as a Franciscan nor have I regretted my leaving. It did shape my life. I admire your dedication. Pax et Bonum!

Happy1st presbyterial anniversary, Fr Casey. May you always be guided by the Holy Spirit and fill you with joy and peace as you work in the vineyard God has called you to minister to. Although, your first year as a priest was filled with turmoil, hopefully, it just made you even more zealous and resolute in your ministry.

When ordained a deacon you vowed that you fully believed in all the teachings and doctrines of the Church! How was that answer not a straight up yes??

Hello Father Cole! I don't know if you answer the comments but I would really appreciate if you could give me your counsel. I'm an Orthodox Christian very much interested in Catholicism. From an early age I was taught that Catholics are heretics and that "Vatican is evil and wants to destroy Orthodoxy". But I attended Catholic mass several times (first time out of curiosity, other 5-6 times because I really liked the first time), I did some research, read about Catholic saints and my interest deepens every day. I really enjoy Mass and fellowship in the church. I learned how to make a sign of the cross and genuflect, I learned some prayers, I know about the importance of Eucharist and other sacraments etc. But now, the reason that keeps me from converting? Mainly my family (which would probably disown me) and my surrounding (which is like 90% conservative Orthodox). Plus there's a level of uncertainty, because I'm not yet sure about everything that Orthodoxy claims as herecy (Filioque, purgatory, papacy etc). I wish I could be both Catholic and Orthodox and attend services on both churches, but unfortunately... year 1054 happened. I would really like your advice and opinion on what I should do. Thank you for reading, God bless you!

I’m an Orthodox Christian myself and I really do enjoy Fr. Casey’s videos. I would tell you to remain Orthodox and learn more about it, it is the true faith of Christianity. (Nothing against Catholicism)

Hey, krd1129! As regards to attending both Catholic and Orthodox services, the closest you can probably get to that is attending an Eastern Catholic Church. They are in communion with Rome and maintain all of the dogmas of Rome, and also preserve the ancient liturgy of the East. For your questions about the papacy, the Filioque and purgatory, I encourage you to read the ancient Church Fathers. They have some things to say on these issues.
@giovannimartini64054 жыл бұрын
I also advice you to research Eastern Catholics. Binding beliefs are exactly the same, but their theology is more similar to the Orthodox, as they emphatize Eastern fathers of the Church. For example, all Catholics believe in Purgatory as a way of purification of the saved, that is somehow painful or annoying and that our prayers can help. That's all the binding teaching. But there are many ways of understanding how it works, not all of them as legalistic as the traditional western theology sounds to many. And they're more familiar with Orthodox struggles, such as filioque. Were you to convert, you could have a more Eastern-like theology and go to both Eastern Catholic and Latin Catholic liturgies, as you wish. For your family and friends, you could learn about ecumenical attitudes and trying to live them out with them: show them you love God, the fathers of the Church, and everything an Orthodox values the most about faith, ask them to pray for you, offer yourself to pray for them, and live charity with them. If you don't convert, you'll be closer to them and God anyway. If you do convert, they'll be unable to deny you're a true follower of Christ.

Orthodox Churches are also true Christian Churches. One important difference : The Eastern-European and Oriental Churches are organized as National Churches s.a. the Greek, Serbian or Romanian Churches etc. Orthodox Churches are for us Catholics very dear, beloved sisters. Most differences are more of the historic, resp. the political kind. Matters of the past ! Luckily Orthodoxy did not have to undergo the changes of Vatican II .

@Krd1129 I do understand your feelings. My advice would be: Give it time. It takes time for your wishes and feelings to get clearer, to understand where you belong. At least for me it took several years, and then I reached a point where I was really sure that I wanted to convert with all the consequences, without fear of regretting it later on, to make official what I was already very generously allowed to live.

Thank you for making this video Fr.! ... I was relieved to hear that even as a Priest, you don’t necessarily have a practice of doing the rosary all the time/or at all. As a former Protestant, this is one of the practices of Catholicism I struggled the most to accept. I don’t disagree with any of the Mariam dogmas of the Church, however I still don’t feel as comfortable praying the Rosary. I rather do Lectio Divina or personal prayer.
@jillchristensen50934 жыл бұрын
I’ve always been Catholic, and I’ve never warmed up to the rosary either. I appreciate the idea of meditating on the mysteries, but for me the rosary is really tedious. I like reading scripture for prayer, and I have Protestant friends from college to thank for that.
@giovannimartini64054 жыл бұрын
A cradle Catholic here. I pray the Rosary, but only on times of spiritual dryness (and always on my own, so I can focus on God and not on answering avemarias out loud). I can see why it's so popular and I find it useful, but no one is less a Catholic for not praying it or doing it less than daily. Rosary fans who try to almost impose it are always awkward to me.
@mcspankey48104 жыл бұрын
The Lord does many wonders through the rosary, it’s my favorite form of prayer behind just speaking to the Lord from my heart. It helps me stay sanctified and in Christ, and I dwell in his presence whenever I pray the rosary❤️❤️

Congratulations, Fr Casey!! A friend of mine who became a protestant pastor, said that he and a friend discerned together in consultation with a theologian of deep devotion. His friend decided that he was not called to be a pastor, he decided that he was. They told their supervisor together. He congratulated the friend and wished him well. When my friend told him that he was called, the theologian told him, 'You have chosen the harder part.'

Fr. Casey I stumbled on your site a week ago and it happened to be at just the right time. Born and bred a Catholic and having nuns and priests in my family I have been questioning my faith and being Catholic. With all that's happening in our country and the world I have been so discouraged. You are truly an inspiration. Please give me your Instagram name. God bless
