For this week's Tuesday video, I take you on a tour of the fishroom. I accidentally forgot a couple racks, but you get a great idea of how the tanks are set up and what is in them this week.

I’m a new subscriber and i love your videos because they’re so informative and thorough. Thank you for posting these videos. You and DIY Joey are my go to videos when I need answers to questions. I’ve been in this hobby for 30+ years and I’ve never attempted shrimps or snails before watching your videos. Thanks to you, my invertebrates , plants, and fishes are all thriving. Do you have any videos about CO2 systems and what works for you? I’m using a basic 45g Fluval system now, but I’m ready to upgrade to something bigger where my CO2 will cartridges will last longer. Thanks again for sharing your expertise.

Hi Rachel, I chose to comment under this particular video because I think you can give great advice about running several tanks when we're worrying about fire hazards. It's so easy to keep plugging in lights and heaters and extension cords and I wanted to ask did you ever do a great video for everyone to ensure nobody is going to burn down their home making a fish room, and can we push being safe and efficient if we run several tanks? It's a real safety issue and I don't think people realise when they start this hobby, mixing electricity and water. I think you could be the person to make a real point out there about it, and hopefully it would save some lives too ! Your videos are so great and I would love to hear your take on safety and cost.
@RachelOLeary7 жыл бұрын
I haven't, but that is a good idea.
@musicalmarion7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rachel, I just bought some power breakers to plug the extension cords into, but even so, it's a worry especially in hot weather ! I scared myself watching some electrical overloads ! : )

I too have a 75 gallon tank that I will be setting up soon. What are the dimensions of the tanks? I haven't chosen my lighting yet but the tank will be more for live plants than fish and is 23 inches deep. I will not be running co2. Any suggestions?

In your opinion I are two sponge filters all I need for a 90 gallon with one flowerhorn? The sponges are rated for 60 gallons and I do weekly water changes and run the sponges with a whisper 100 air pump?

I have a lot of strategies for keeping the costs down- heat the room, not the tanks, use a central (80w) air pump, lights on a timer, etc. I sometimes thinkt he bulk of the bill comes from my kids leaving their bedroom lights on 24/7!
