It's about time we did a fish room tour! The layout of my fish room is basically done, with all the main racks and cabinets in place. Now all thats left is to do the fun stuff, tinkering with the little things, setting up and beautifying my aquariums :)

Overall I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us. Also perhaps even an update on your backyard garden in a future vid, perhaps? (No pressure though, we can wait) 😃 Thanks again dear friend. Cheers to you!

For Heterandria Formosa, I had more success raising them in outside tubs. One of my favorite fish which I collected myself in Florida. For some reason, inside they really tend to slow down. I used a 25 gallon black tube outside in the shade with guppy grass and they produced so many I was having trouble giving them away!

I currently keep a common musk turtle (stinkpot) in an aquarium in my house. They are easy to care for. Just keep your water clean and you should be good. If outside the sun will be all they need for their vitamins. If inside you def. need a basking light like you have but also a UVB light. These turtles will bask so great you have a basking platform for them. I would keep them outside and the maintenance will probably be easy for you. If I remember right, don’t quote me on this, but I think they will do well in the cold too. So you can probably keep them outside almost all year long. Do some research on them to see though. Ryo, also feed your turtles a varied diet. Turtle pellets are fine but add like cut shrimp or they have some food mixes that are meal worms, shrimp, and crickets that is good to feed them. Some turtles love a little vegetables as well so maybe some lettuce, not iceberg, and also small pieces of fish. They may also like snails or worms too like earthworms. Also, when you feed don’t feed them everyday. In the wild they may not get a meal on certain days because they could not catch anything. So you can feed them every other day. In feeding days I do one day turtle pellets, skip a day, then do shrimp, fish, mealworms, crickets, etc., then I skip a day and then go back to turtle pellets and switch it up like that. I have been told by turtle experts that is a good way to feed them. You may also want to put some live fish in with them and allow them to catch their food sometimes if they are fast enough. If not, the fish will stay alive in their enclosure and become some good looking tank or pond mates. For turtle pellets most zoos in USA and I use Mazuri aquatic turtle pellets. ZooMed is good as well and also Hikari Turtle sticks. You can also vary their turtle sticks so get more than one brand and mix them together if you want or on a pellet day feed one type of pellet and then on the next pellet feeding day give them a different brand of pellet. Each brand makes their pellets with different things in them so the formulas vary. Also if you want to follow some turtle guys who know more than me check out Garden State Tortoise, Greg’s Turtle Haven, The Turtle Room, and Kamp Kenan. Also follow Jordan Gray, I think his Instagram is @jordanturtleman. He is a turtle biologists or herpetologist who can tell you almost anything you may want to know about turtles and tortoises. Between these guys they should be able to answer any of your turtle questions. They are all turtle and tortoise lovers. ðŸ‘ðŸ¼ðŸ¢

Ryo, water your cactus only once a month. Most people tend to over water them and that will lead to root rot and they will die. Remember, they are desert plants so they know how to make the little water you give them go a long way. I water mine once a month and have no problem with them. Keep them in a lot of sunlight. Not sure how they may do in winter. I have seen them freeze and then wilt and die. I think that was in near freezing temps though. I would just keep them inside during the winter but plenty of sunlight. ðŸ‘ðŸ¼ðŸŒµ

I’m just getting into aquatics but I know quite a lot about cacti! Not totally sure what the current care is but they love lots of sun, although if they’re in low light now they’ll need to be acclimated to high light. I water them whenever they get soft. If they’re well watered they’re nice and hard, and when they could use water they’ll have some give to em. You can use a light hand with regular plant fertilizer or you can use a cacti/succulent fertilizer as directed 😊

Very nice! We have Western Painted Turtles in our rivers, lakes and creeks in southern Oregon, USA. They are so cute and fast! As a kid I always tried to catch them and they are way faster than a human child...lol. When we have boat races on the Rogue River they get scared and run from the bank to the roads and many of us spend the boat races saving the turtles from cars. Finally I get to get my hands on them, but they are even fast on land.

Hi Ryosenpai, been a long time follower and a big fan from Mexico :) I'm not very good with cactus indoors, from my experience, when they tend to over-develop the tips of the main body, it's usually due to a lack of natural sunlight. I've never tried with growing lights, but once outside my cactus seem to develop better (mainly due to central mexico semi-arid conditions) also in wnter very low watering and if below 0 temps, i bring them indoor for the night. Anyway, love the aesthetic of the studio, it's been coming along great throughout the years and excited to see the new turtles journey as well :)

regarding your cabinet stand, try to find a MAT finishing which looks the most natural and close to the original looks of the wood and also upgrade your inches as they are the absolute most basics and are not reflecting the quality of the wood job been done ;) look in kitchen maker or even Ikea now have Jerry decent one for at a cheap cost, kind of soft close ones or at least smoother than the basics one. Hi. Ryo made the orchid setup at an ADA workshop. He actually featured this in one of his more recent videos, about 2 weeks ago. If you haven't seen that video yet, you gotta check it out. You can find it here on his channel. The video is titled "Stunning Aquariums and Terrariums at ADA Lab (Harajuku)" As far as your question is concerned, I'm not quite sure; but box and light setup are most likely ADA or DOOA products. It makes sense to me, since ADA is DOOA's parent company, and as I mentioned earlier, he did make it at an ADA workshop. Also I distinctly remember seeing a similar light and base setup in another one of Ryo's videos, where he sets up his very first Glass Pot Shiuku product; also from DOOA. :)

Ryo, I love your wooden stand. I know you said you will probably not ship overseas but if we pay you can you make the plans available for sale so we can follow them and make one of these stands ourselves at home if we are overseas?

Suggest some plants for your terrapin turtles home such as water hyacinth.

Yeah, when I put them outdoors. Indoor, hyacinth doesn’t do too well.

Hate to be bearer of bad news but that’s not a western painted turtle. It could be another type of painted turtle but most of the have orange on the bottom. They look like some type of cooter turtle which get similar size to red ear sliders. You should message garden state tortoise/turtle if you want a definitive ID on what type of turtle you have

What substrate are you using? That dark gravel looks great! I aspire to have a fish room like yours one day.

In Japan, we call it Ooiso sand. But it’s actually a gravel. It raises ph slightly but it’s what Takashi amano used before there was aqua soil :)

Sawbwa resplendens (Rummynose Rasboras) are becoming more popular in the hobby. Unfortunately, you only seem to have males. The females look completely different. They have the same shape, but are light beige in colour. You can breed them relatively easily in a so-called 'wedge tank' if you place a plant such as Hydrocotyle leucocephala in front of the slit. The fish spawn in my tank frequently after a water change with cooler water. Rearing the babies is somewhat complicated as the larvae have very small mouths and can only eat artemia nauplii after a few weeks. Greetings form Germany!

Lovely tour but I’m not sure why you would do a tour with the lights off on 90% of your tanks even if you have a schedule. Just turn them on for an hour max while you film?

The turtles are beautiful but sad they are illegal to keep where I'm at since they are protected species and need special permits to keep.

It seems to me that you are starting to move away from aquascaping, you want to do more long term aquariums or am I wrong.
