Anglesey Trackday gone pear shaped , I show you all the good trackdays , and I thought why hide the fact that I sometimes get things totally wrong. Here is a day where I opted not to buy wets as I spent a lot lately on bike service and brakes and had another trackday in 2 days which was guaranteed sunny but I ruined an opportunity to learn wet weather riding which would have helped me in my forth coming racing season.
Hope you still enjoy it, I try to portray things the way I normally do. Bear with me though lol

Hi Abhi, shame you missed out on the rush and good feeling from riding the great track, i went for my first visit last year and it was epic, good video as usual from you, my solution to the Great British weather if your interested is another bike i call my wet bike, i was so fed up with rainy trackdays that i bought an old Triumph street triple 675r and i use it if its wet, perfect riding position and it doesn't seem like a wasted day if you can ride round in the wet its just a different buzz and not a disappointment - Keep up the good work and look forward to meeting you one day at the track as you make me smile :-)

Wow Peter, that’s great food for thought actually . Another wet bike completely, something cheap , reliable and totally set up for wet weather riding , suspension, tyres , the lot . I am definitely going to think on that . You never know I might actually take a dip and buy a decent cheap wet bike . I love the 675 by the way , best sounding , decent torque and really sublime chassis

I love Anglesey, it is a cracking circuit, and I love even more the relaxed nature of the days there. I was rained off on my first time there too, when it is wet, it is really wet, but when it is sunny, it is incredible.

I think living in the UK, some road based tyres like Michelin’s that do well in the damp and light rain plus a set of full on wets is a good investment… the cost in time, travel and the track day soon over shadows the cost of having options for the weather on the day… the UK is famous for having all the weather in one day/weekend 😂

So true James, I was thinking along those lines too, I was thinking to put some extreme wet road tyres which wouldn’t destroy themselves if it starts to get a bit dry but now I have to put wets because I will be racing in endurance championship so I don’t know if I am allowed anything else but race wet tyres

Thank you Jim, it was just a wonderful Experience to be there, I had never seen that track and what a setting . Utterly brilliant. But the winds got really really bad By about 2pm there were 3 bikes only on track

Thanks Brendan, I think I knew I had cadwell in 2 days which would be super sunny and dry and I just saved myself for that and I had Mallory a week after that . Both went superbly . I just saved myself for those 2 dry days

I would have done the same tbh, riding in the wet was never fun for me also risky and costly so I don't bother. Some days you win some you lose, that's Britain's weather for ya. If you are gonna go down better going down in the dry while having the time of your life rather than teetering around in the wet worrying if your going to make a mistake, plus it's no fun for me.

That’s perfectly summarised mate. I had a huge crash in dry in 2019 and still have the financial effects of that and if I didn’t have a bone dry trackday in 2 days from that wet trackday I would have still tried the wets but I thought let’s leave it for another day, I think what bothered me more were the extreme cross winds , that and rain aren’t best things . Perfect recipe for a low side

Another enjoyable and cracking video as usual Abhi. I'm looking to book Angelsey this year, been dying to have a go! If you don't mind me saying, stay away from road rubber as a wet alternative, my only crash these last couple of years was doing exactly that 🤦🏻 I've recently done Cadwell in terrible weather on full wets and they're a revelation I promise you, they're worth the extra spend. Aaahhh thanks for that valuable pointer there Gareth. I’ll definitely stay away from road rubber then It’s tempting to buy road rubber especially when conditions are mixed but I will definitely go for proper wet rubber now. Cheers for that . :) and thanks for the comment and appreciation again

@@ChasingTenths I know everyone has different opinions but I buy my wets from an ebayer who deals with BSB scrubbed tyres. My last set cost around £160, a HUGE saving and I've had no problems with them. I will add though, I'm lucky enough to be able to fit and balance my own tyres at work, so maybe this isn't as cost effective or easy for everyone, thought it'd be worth mentioning though Abhi 🤷🏼‍♂️👍

If you are racing in the endurance this year you really could do with some wet miles under your belt mate and to learn what the tyres can do. I’ll admit I probably wouldn’t ride in the wet if I wasn’t racing just for the risk/reward factor, but if you think going out in the wet for the first time on a trackday is daunting - imagine what it will be like in a race with everyone flying past 🤣. It’s a lot more fun than you would think, you can brake really hard and its pretty rewarding getting your knee down when its hammering it down. Not every round will be sunny, just advice though - your bike and your money mate

Thanks Sasha, mass damper is still there mate, I used it all last year , I need to make a final video on it. I am waiting for some juicy race / testing data , I really hope I get it and I will make a video and thanks for understanding my sentiments. I was just playing safe , but hindsight is a wonderful thing and this year I am racing and it would be great to get some wet riding experience under my belt

Do tracks at the UK offer 'just in case insurance'? Tracks here in Australia offer this insurance usually for 50 AUD and you can cancel your booking and get a refund anytime before the rider breifing, or if the weather is terrible they will offer a credit for about 75% of the entry price. Pretty good specially when doing double days or booking months in advance.

I was the lad on the GSXR opposite you in the garage for this day, it was the last track day I did. Finally had enough of booking months in advance, doing hundreds of miles towing the trailer, wet days, and dealing with knobbers in inters that spend so much time crashing that you rarely get a clear session any more. 😂 Bike is sold, I'm getting into restoring classic bikes instead for a bit.

​@@ChasingTenths Yeh that was me, I've got a bed that replaces the rear seat and passenger seat, and a set of curtains for it. Used it many many times over the years. Car is gone now too though, unfortunately needed far too much money for the MOT, so I've got a bed but no car it will fit. 😂 I might get back into TDs one day, we'll see. At the moment I'm more interested in building stuff, so just got a CBX in bits to restore and modify.

Hey mate, I tow a closed trailer, if I were you I would get a closed One, it’s really much better and you can sleep in it too lol … and on the motorway when you are towing, you haven’t got potential thieves start following you after seeing your pride and joy :)

26 psi Hot mate on a cold day 24 psi hot on a hot day I always keep it at 25 Psi hot rear 35 psi front hot Perfect combination Never had an issue Also approved by a BSB tyre fitter

@@ChasingTenths Phillip island was 26 deg and sunny..the tyres sat on 26 and 34 and no slipage, stuck like shite to a blanket....only late in arvo cld feel slight drifting out as turning into turn 12....little bit of fun....3rd set, i do like them for my pace ...

I feel for you - sometimes it's hard to justify buying a set of wets when it's forecast to come dry - and you just spent £££'s on some new dry tyres!! but when you are already £200 to £300 in with the cost of the Trackday and transport and fuel what do you do? tyres are getting so expensive it's really putting the pinch on trackdays :-( - riding in the pi55ing rain isn't fun either ! A real shame as Anglesey is such a brilliant track, I love it here !
